Ofcourse I get this, but I'm just saying that if their plan is to support a lot of old machines they should keep this in mind.
Jorn, your machine is newer than mine, and mine works, so I don't think it's a new/old situation. In developing programs (especially games), there's lots of hardware/driver combinations and issues that just don't come up on every machine, hence why they put out non-fun betas like this.

Hmm, Well yours looks a bit different than mine. For mine the imprints don't appear on the map or follow the contours. It isn't part of the 3D engine. They are projected straight onto the screen, like a menu or something.
@Horemheb, just checking to make sure your issue doesn't look like this , which seems to be different (and on an older Nvidia card too) Also noticed everyone has Windows XP Pro. Not sure if that matters or just because it's a popular OS still :)
Does a lower resolution fix it for you too? I'll also add that the patterns are still visible when the Kingdom Info screen is pulled up, though it is a bit dimmed. The patterns also don't change at the angle of viewing. Finally, going to the main menu make the patterns disappear, though they reappear when you go back to the current game.
Hi! Screens would be nice (Hitting the PrintScrn key puts screenshots in the Elemental/Screenshots directory). Also, upload your debug.err to pastebin.com (or some other site) and link to it. A new debug.err file appears after each game run in your Elemental directory in My Documents\My Games (on XP at least). Edit: I see ghoulas' thread contains lots of pics, so you can ignore that part.
Is this the same issue as this ? See the pics there.
When I set the resolution to higher than 1024x768, I get weird black symbols 'imprinted' on the screen after world creation and after the map is moved once (zoom, scroll). It then remains this way until the game is restarted. On game load: After zooming the camera: Moved the camera
Try what keithburgun says and just keep trying to run the program, maybe fiddle with some prefs.ini preferences (like turning the resolution lower). Not guaranteed to work though. Also, a suggestion: upload the relevant debug.err files to pastebin.com or some other location and just link to it from here. It's much
I've had some hard-to-guess-but-always-around crashes after having modified a value in Prefs.ini by hand. I've usually tried changing GfxForceNoBump, GfxForceNoPointSprites, GfxThrottleFrameRate, and FullScreen to name a few. Sometimes when you toggle a feature, it works once, and then crashes continually each time after the splash screen. Sometimes it crashes once, then works continually after that. Changing a value so it works once, then going into the options panel in gam
Same bug as this one , Though I can't see your sovereign like in mine. Posting your debug.err file might also be helpful ( do it on pastebin.com or something like that).
uplift17: Do you have fullscreen on or not? I've also had some weird graphic effects on non-fullscreen at higher resolutions, so try the lowest resolution you can get. Zolton:Yeah, I had that happen to me too (see above ). I tried restarted the game a few times though, and it seemed to work the kinks out somehow. Maybe just switch the mipmap level in the options, quit the game, then restart.
Guys, post your debug.err files on pastebin or something. That's much more useful than dxdiags. I'm guessing though that loading saves wasn't one of the things SD required to work for this initial beta.
Nope, mine's a different issue. Here's what I still get with disabling full screen mode: You've got an nVidia card, whereas the people who have the same problem as me all have ATI. Edit: we've had a nvidia card with the same problem as mine, so its not an AT
Seems to be an ATI issue, and most are R520 cards, except Dopplex's FireGL. Zoston and uplift17, did you try setting the mipmap level to 1? That worked perfectly for me. Also, screens? There's a similiar issue here , so it might be nice to make sure they are the same case.
Confirmed same issue. Before save: After quitting the game, starting again, and loading the save game file. Note the missing gold pouches, city, cityname and field icon. <img style="margin: 10p
Same for me. Examples: Dxdiag at <a href="http://www3.tel
That's somewhat similiar to my problem here . Try setting the mip-map levels to 1 and see how that works. Btw, a suggestion: don't post your dxdiag inline. Upload it to pastebin.com and just link to it everytime you have an issue. Cleaner, neater, and more helpful. Also, post the debug.err file that appears after each game run in the game directory. It has a bit more game specific info than the dxdiag.<
At the very start of the intro video playback (before the "Welcome Brave Adventurer" text starts to brighten, but after the splash screen), click the LMB 2,3 or more times in rapid succession in order to skip the video. The game will CTD instead of going to the main menu. I'm guessing its overloading an input loop or something. dxdiag at http://www3.telus.net/scottrycroft/dxdiag.txt Debug.err at <a href="h
I've also noticed the map distortions take place as the "Welcome to Elemental" splash screen starts up after creating the world. Some screen examples: Before: (note also the lack of FOW) After the welcome screen: <a href="http://img269.imageshac
Lines have returned at mip-level 2. Debug.err at http://pastebin.com/m18c60ec0 Lines appear at all mip levels so far. At level 6, the lines turn into black segments. And generally the map looks several pieces are in the wrong positions.
Looks like it was the mip-map levels. I reduced the mip-map level to 1, and the next time it started everything looked fine. However, after changing the level to 2, things get messed up, and the game looks as so... Debug.err was corrupted, w
I know the cloth map isn't suppposed to be pretty, but it is supposed to be somewhat functional, right? Well here's my map, on a few seperate starts. <img style="vertical-a
Looks like this is a big bug atm. I just posted in another thread concerning this. Alt tab can result in BSOD. Has anyone actually been able to get the game to work even after reboot?
I have. No problems as far as I could tell.
I'll add another to the alt-tab gives black screen and no recovery. I was trying to do the el'cheapo screenshot method of PrintScreen + MSPaint, but the alt-tab situation kinda makes that a crappy choice. DxDiag at www3.telus.net/scottrycroft/dxdiag.txt
