You don't need cavalry to counter archers, you just need charging spearmen. When he is using 6 move archers - then you need horses, but I presume he is obtaining 6 moves via horses also. Unless he is abusing stacking compasses.. I have to try that. Also he is talking about using chainmail and platemail.. If the enemy also has chainmail.. 8 damage shortbows aren't going to do anything. On that note.. perhaps there sho

Challenging: Found a city. Murder any beasties nearby by means of magic and mayhem. Grab any heroes. Sell any useless loot and rush build stuff in the city. Build up Leather armor and spears, make a few defensive forces. Tech-wise: Standing army, leatherworkings, some basic civ techs, and then we expand further. And Shard Harvesting. Once the countryside is semi-safe, poineers are dropped to take important resources with outpost. The sovereign goes off and try
So i use Pillar of Flame (overland enchantment) to decimate armies that step into my territory, but although they take massive damage, the units that "die" remain with 0 health and full numbers... easy enough to kill, but not quite right, those undead.
Quoting Kamamura_CZ, reply 11The optimal solution would be if they TALKED! Then they could, even briefly, explain their hostility towards the player, like "Ho, ho, er... give me your... er... salted pork or die!", or "I am your long lost uncle Marrr-Hagma, and I still hold a grudge for the bottle of apple wine you stole from me. Die!", or "I am booored, let's spar a bit. I promise I won't use the sharp side of the hammer... much"<br
Please don't. For a SP RPG its ok, but not for this scale.
I cant even imagine life without Derek... just don't let him know that
The road to failure is posting something on the internet with the comment "just dont let him know that..." ;) Right. Enough talk, back to playing FE. Time to consolidate my empire and kick some more death-worshipping butt.
Ha. Umber did the same, sadly they were all peons. But they did burn 3 outposts before I got them... actually, its not a bad idea, send some dispensables to do that. Of course, ideally you send a single dispensable on horseback with scout stuff so he moves really quick ( 6 moves) and nuke everything in sight, but hey, im not complaining. Resoln did the same thing with a massive army btw. Which I then nuked with Pillar of Flame three times, and then shot with my Archers.
I see it as a way of denying the champion to another faction.
... which is what the AI was doing to me, end result is that I have one sovereign and one champion. I'll be pumping troops this game.
Brokered for peace, turns out diplomatic capital is 100 times more worth than gildars. I have 126 of it right now, that gives me 126000 room to negotiate. Not good.
As for boring... turn x: Oh, Relias is in the way... he's three times as powerfull as me, but its a narrow front between me and him . *declares war* turn x+5 ... ok, that's city number 1. MINE! turn x+7... Aaand instead of two cities I now have one city again, and one less tack of troops, because an Ashwake Dragon stomped into my city, toasted my army and turned it into rubble. turn x+10 Resoln attacks and starts bu
A solution to this would be to make the early tactical battles more involving, like i've mentioned a hundred times already on these forums.
A hundred times? Must have been a few rather boring posts then, you've posted in three threads. All of em fullo f"Tactical battles should be better!"? Your intentions are good, the way you come off, as a know-it-al
As spokesman for the bears I'd rather see the ability removed from the humans, and left to the bears. After all, I can now maul santa's elves ( thats where I got the hat...). Give it to the bears only witha -4 to hit... it should be special, and bear-only.
Backstory keeps flickering in and out on the custom race screen after pressing done, very strange. At first I thought it was deleted.
Because then effectively you might as well not conquer any shards... there's no reason to use them, because you're not getting more bang for your buck.
Well I think A good start would be to give us access to an uncrippled AI to start with and then work out balance and difficulty bonuses/handicaps later as the beta testers 'test' out the actual AI!
Again, as said before, you can set the game to " Challenging" for this. Ignore the tooltips, they are woefully incorrect ( as to be expected from beta's, cosmetic changes like tooltips are usuall
Yes there is much variation. I will see about putting some landscape shots up as well. The visuals are much more appealing than in E:WOM. There, I did cloth map because the landscape was dull. Here, I enjoy looking at my armies and my cities a lot more. My favorite screenie so far is the one from the first section where it shows my entire kingdom, including three Shards... they just look amazing. The location of the City of Pits and City of the Chasm was also just awesomesauce... I love
Tech research at 'normal' speed is glacially slow, even if you adjust taxes. I'm actually playing a game right now with 'fast' tech and... it doesn't seem particularly fast. Dunno, I'll expand some more and see, could be it doesn't show up until you've developed a bit. I'm assuming it's just a % multiplier on the cost of research techs.
Thats because its bugged... <a h
Yep, I saw that bug... funny that I saw it ingame afterwards. I'll keep adding more shots... if anyone else has any shots, feel free to add em as well. I plan to play the Kingdom of Orr untill my armies are size 9, with size 9 units, all decked out in juicy-looking armor and outfits, and then create some different armies just for the looks. And then... we go to war (I made peace with Relias after taking that city, I now have an empire which is shaped like a T, upsid
Ah... that explains a LOT!
The problem with placement, I think, is that on a large map ten empires must be placed, and then there are the Elemental Domains which are effectively the size of small empires too. There are what, five elemental powers? (I met three so far in two different games). Lots of stuff at placement start.I do not mind meeting other empires, but given that our cities tend to be bulky and require lots of room, the fight for resources and strategic placement of cities will intensify rather q
1. More Depth ( more researchable spells, more quests, more variation in city building and race tactics, better cities, more unit variation) so we get more replay. 2. AI. GOOO BRAD! 3. an increased depth in tactical battles Really, number 1 is just a matter of tweaking XML's till they are perfect. And time. More time. The game will be done when its done, so thats at least half a year from now I think. Gives Brad some more time to

Yes. I still dont get why people hate units much. I like the bigger units better, but thats purely cosmetics. I had archers with 225 HP... five units of em. They shot big and nasty things like Morian dead... quick... If the AI were to level his troops I can guarantee you there would be much less of an issue of "Mighty Hero" armies. Yew Longbow, a few levels, and then its armor piercing mayhem. Especially from those 9-man units with Accuray and such. Untill these kinds o
