Wheel, that second one was great! "One of the earliest images of Titan’s surface reveals a spot the size of Arizona with what appears to be the lighting of a metropolis. There is more light in this area than Arizona at night. We can only assume that the makers of this light and activity are enemies of freedom and hate our way of life. Let the enemies of freedom know what Japanese video game designers know: All your base are belongs to us."

Let me start out by saying, no, this is not a semantic debate about the order of rock-paper-scissors, scissors-rock-paper, paper-rock-scissors, etc etc. I want to know if people really think that the weapon system has a rock-paper-scissors effect. Personally, it is my belief that it *does not*. Yes, it is a three tiered weapon system, but it's not like missiles beat mass drivers, mass drivers beat laser, and laser beats missiles. When i think of a fancied up version of rock-pap
Actually, since I've heard DA bonus tiles are a lot rarer, that should make for some improving performance in the planet build AI by itself. In lots of cases, yes, it can just follow a basic "script". However, the scripting still IMHO should be a weighted based on value the item adds to the current planet layout, and value the item adds to what the empire is trying to achieve. (Otherwise they may *never* build the wonders) The problem with straight scripting a planet build is t
Congrats are definitely in order, especially for dealing with fraktards such as your truly oh so well. At 3455 replies and counting, How many of those do you think were "knock it off *insertname*"?
deuterium must be our next fuel source because there's nothing else paraphin wax We're researching this here @ DU, it's an explosive wax, the only problem is that it's not *as* combustible as fossil fuels. (It's something NASA uses in their rocket fuels)
First, you need a very large meat grinder... d00d no way! haven't you ever seen Monty Python in the Holy Grail?
Maybe it's just the roll system that is wrong? Logically, the % should be in some form related to the damage the weapon does, so that high damage weapons have higher chances for crits. I think this is a basic assumption. I don't think you read the post I was replying to very well... there are no crits in his system, just kill or miss Even tho
@gallagher I think you're not understanding the difference between a new AI algorithm, and how an AI priorities things. The prioritizing is a set of values based on other values, and is a data change. The algorithm (which is the topic of discussion) is the actual development end. You could spend years trying to balance values and still not get them perfect for every given scenario. You could spend weeks writing a new algorithm and a couple more debugging it that would have a noticeable
one how did your friend actualy manage to break the wiimote, all of the stories about the wiimote breaking stuff have one thing in common the wiimote survived completely intact that thing is indestructable. Structurally it's indestructible. The thing didn't smash to pieces (although that would have been cool), but the sensors inside are fairly d
Was I asking a question in the manner that endorses renewable fuel? Sorry if I did that, english is not my native! No, you asked your question properly, and it's a fair question. I was just establishing that, no matter what, starships need fuel. I think you can tell by the other's response they don't seem to care what type of fuel. As far
Which fuel would be good for hyperdrive, ion drive, warp engines? I think this is a moot point. Basic principles of physics, in order to move something (gain kinetic energy), you must first have potential energy. Fuel is potential energy, nowadays being chemical potential energy. In any case, it's impossible to have a completely renewable source
@Ken: But what if i play Giant growth and give my creature +3/+3 until end of turn? Oh, what? This isn't magic the gathering? Sorry, got lost in the complex rules. All joking aside, there are a couple things I don't particularly care for about that system: 1) Repair is rendered completely useless. Yes, it is addressed by repair rate, but does not exactly reflect what repair does... at all. It also gives no strategical advantage to remove your damaged ships from a fleet
Hopefully we see new beta tomorrow without beer cannons See, i think the problem here is not the naivety, or the misread of sarcasm, i think it's the idea of wasting beer like that!
Very true, the graphics are not comparable to any other nextgen system or a PC, and they never were supposed to be. Very true, my idiot friend broke his wiimote day one launching it into the wall, along with his nunchuck, while we were boxing... it's true that the wrist strap doesn't help, but, he was being an uncoordinated jackass who was exaggerating his movements tenfold and had not washed his hands after eating greasy pizza... i laughed, hard
Oh, and for some reason, the spell check on FF says that my spelling of okay is wrong. Right click, add to dictionary
Now I guess I am going to have to use Google... Damn. Also, I own a Wii, and despite the GameCube's flaming failure (look, i love Nintendo, but that was garbage and you're lying to yourself if you think otherwise. It only did *decent* because of the games that came out exclusively for it, the console was trash), the Wii is surprisingly awesome. T
The title of this thread is misleading... now i'm off to the bar. And they're right, don't bother building more than 2 farms... It does make me wonder what the value of those triple farming spaces are though. It would be nice if food production provided from the initial colonies was halved, it would actually add some value into researching farms past Xeno Farming
Amazon man Amazon: Deus Ex
I must be way out of date, older than dirt and all that good stuff but ummm... What is Wii? For the love of Google man! Just type it in a search engine, you'll find out in 10 seconds.
My whole beef with this is how accuracy *seems* to be a standard random odds roll that is the same across the board. I think there should be things that change the odds. -If a ship is faster, it is harder to hit -If a ship is smaller, it is harder to hit -Advanced computing should allow for better targeting systems, and more accurate shots -There should be a branch off of this, instead of going right into miniaturization, that works on targeting systems -It'd also be nic
Hey, does anybody know if you can mod the deep space background? If so, you potentially could create a mod that had nothing to do with space. Like, you could have island wars with stars being the central volcano or something (lame idea but I'm just trying to get you guys out of the box). I really would like to see somebody create a mod with some real creativity. The game mechanics are really the only thing that's hard coded....
I thought it was a rather clever idea, the micro-management aspect of it would be an extreme headache though. He is right. Say you've made a fleet with ships of different speeds. Getting all of your fueling right for maximum movement would be a real headache. Plus figuring out the most efficient way to cross a galaxy... arg. But
if you've any sense left, put in proper tactical - turn based - battles (straight out of MOO if you can't be bothered to write any new code) and release it as a free update to GalCiv2, ASAP. Besides Donfield's obvious point... That statement alone is so ignorant, and sooooo sooooo soooooooo stupid, that you deserve to have your money ta
Your strategies could be written to disk and then analysed in future games by the AI AAAAccccuuuaaallly... this is conceivable on relatively light hardware if done right . Here at Drexel University, there is an AI professor doing research on this exact
with a revenue of 284149, spending of 63408 and income of 228896 the resulting balance (i.e. next turn) was -4130 Yeah... oops... now that i look at it again it seems right if that is your *current* balance. Thank goodness for curves or I would have failed accounting... Just cuz I can do integral calculus doesn't mean I can add and subtr
