do know what would be even better? Have an advanced settings tab where it ASKS you where to save saved games, screenshots, and recorded games. how about that? Say "sure" to whatever MS wants... they want you to put all the saved games on the desktop so it fills the desktop with crap after one play session... FINE... just ask the Player where they want it during install or provide a read out in the game options. Problem solved. MS can't argue with "that player didn't a

the Unit cap should be enforced economically, not with some kind of arbitrary unit cap. That is every ship you build should basically put a tax on your resources. When you hit the max number of ships you should be making almost NO money at all or no money at all. Everything will be going into upkeep. In fact, if you over build it should start draining stored resources. If you don't have enough to play then the ship gets moth balled... which means it just goes dark if
oh come now, even I the pro-capitalist am not this pretentious yes, they benefit, but not nearly so much as we do. besides, they have to take spoonfuls of our culture while we get to remain blissfully ignorant. Schem... back any of that up... immediately... or I'm going to go back to ignoring under the assumption that you still haven't gotten off your lat napoleon kick. I'm tired of you saying frankly INSANE crap and then refusing to ba
Karma, we are seriously not communicating for some reason. Its like you see something of my text, and slide off at some really weird angle, ignoring what I was trying to say to latch onto some subject completely outside my text. I'm sorry... I'm not trying to do that... please restate your point in different words and hopefully I'll see where I went wrong. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/s
how can they demand you do something that no one else is doing? that's just silly.
no the cultural difference is the US is an empowered nation. We perceive ourselves as able to change the world. So does Britain and so does Israel... for that matter so does Iran. the point is that a society that is not so empowered is more vulnerable to terrorism as it will feel powerless to do anything about it. Whether you are empowered or not is largely a state of mind. you can be just stupid and have it or be ridiculously powerful and not have it.
don't people scout enemy systems before sending in a big fleet? I mean... if you send your fleet into a system and don't KNOW there's an inhibitor in there... and enough forces to keep you from both destroying the inhibitor and killing off your ships... you deserve to lose. I'm a bigger believer in tough sh*t rules in games. Rules or tactical settings where if you break the rule or make a big enough tactical mistake... you get wiped out. And that's just
divinewrath, first having an itty bitty system partition is just a bad idea. As a rule of thumb I make sure mine have at least 10 GB. I know, that sucks... but it's just the way things are. I then mod the registry to have my documents and desktop folder stored on a separate partition. That way if the first partition crashes my documents and desktop are safe. You could redirect the whole documents and settings folder to a separate partition. The BEST way to do this is by copying the
if you have a spy or diplomat unit in the game... and ideally you should have both... then you should be able to use that unit to coop pirates... give them a letter of mark... basically deputizing them as agents of your empire to kill, pillage, and cause havoc against rival powers with the same legal authority as your own military. Only you don't have to pay them and they pretty much keep whatever they kill. Though by selling their booty in your territory you get "some" of the loot just through
how do you capture a star?... I mean... unless you're talking about building something "around" it... you can't land on it... or build anything on it... and even if you did build something "around" it the star is HUGE!!! I mean... it would practically take the mass of another star just to build something around an existing star... No... I want gas giants... you can build on them at least in the form of "floating" structures... like huge air balloon structures... or maybe vacuum ba
This is going to sound really cold blooded, but in war there are no innocent civilans (besides perhaps children). A nation or an insurgency cannot fight a war if the people of that nation do not support them. Thus the civilians in a nation that a country is at war with are a part of the war effort and thus fair game. An instance of how the people can end a war by ending support for it can be seen with WWI and tsarist Russia. When the people finally
See, we targeted civilians in WW2. But they were people in factories making tanks and bombers... No, we targeted the factories. No we targeted the civilians. We carpet bombed whole cities... the factories weren't all over the cities but we carpet bombed the WHOLE city. In addition we firebombed Tokyo and then set off nuclear bombs over two japanese cities.<br/
Well... it's even worse then that. See, we targeted civilians in WW2. But they were people in factories making tanks and bombers... The civilians being killed by the terrorists are completely removed from the war effort. They're just normal people trying to live. In addition they're only being killed to scare other people and make the government and society unstable. That's the issue. And that's also why it's important not to define victory as "no one di
whiny little bitch. Oh man your soo right, I should repent Good... do it. I'm tired of the whining. The one conducted in France killed about 50,000 people 40,000 of which were women. Link? Basic christian society fell apart when people bent to sexual urges. Many witch trials were started because some prominent
Hey, remember when there was a UN resolution not to invade Iraq? Yeah, I do. And thus far, while Iran has always postured blowing the hell out of Israel, they've been doing that since time immemorial. It's sort of their thing. Will they actually do it? Well, most probably not. Especially not with their non-existant nuclear weapons. which is why it's troubling that they're building o
example: See the upper left hand corner?... what's wrong with that?
wait a minute... I play games all the time that are brand new that don't put saved games in the application data folder. Then you properly havent brought any "new" games within the last year or 2. All new games put there savegames and settings in those places, heres a few examples: Supreme Commander Sins of a Solar Empire Bioshock Overlord X3 Reunion Sword of the Stars E
wait a minute... I play games all the time that are brand new that don't put saved games in the application data folder. They either put them in the application's install directory or the "my documents" folder. As to changing the application data folder it's not that hard. Just "COPY" the information to the new location, then alter the registry values that tell the computer where to look, and reboot. Then delete the old folder and you're do
Dos can read and write to NTFS partitions so long as you include the right files in your boot image. This sort of thing is rather easy to find around... and worst case you can always load the recovery console which is built into XP and reads NTFS. What's the size of your system partition? I've tried system configs with small system partitions and it's always turned out badly even when I've used the registry to redirect documents, program files, etc to a separate partition.<br/
Does anyone else find it odd that just as we're easing off from Iraq, Iran is all of a sudden becoming a really big "problem"? I mean, cleaning up the act of such nations is all well and good, but I find myself strongly suspicious of the timing . i have the same way. The only reason they sound dangerous is because they wanna protect there country as ev
Is it possible to tease a few away at a time?... or shell them all at long range and then run away? Or do you have to go in there and fight them head on? There should be some late game tech that lets you just murder large numbers of ships at range... give a counter at the same tech level... But that would be the pirate ender.
I'd like there to be gravity... in the gravity wells... Gravity that pulled ships towards the centers of mass... and slowed the velocity of things trying to leave it... and accelerated things going towards it... that's what I think should be done with gravity wells... have gravity in them...
though I'd like to say the Russians started it for calling their bomb the "father of all bombs"... in reference to our Moab bomb... which is "the mother"... I don't know maybe we should call our bomb the rich great uncle of all bombs... beat that biatchs...
I think most of it is actually security concerns... but telling the world we have a bomb that's bigger a couple days after they say they have a big bomb is pretty funny. It doesn't serve any real purpose I shoudl think beyond one upping the russians... No doubt they'll say they have a 500 ton bomb soon that is cool except it's so big you can't really move it.
