I think the types of pirate attacks should change as you become more powerful. For example, you could have acts of terrorism. Someone blows up a shipyard or something... You could defend against it by moving a security slider to the right which improves security at the cost of lowering efficiency or costing you money. Additionally such acts would probably only be possible on frontier zones... so if a world were deep in your empire they would be generally immune to such attacks...<b

This is a silly disagreement... the distinction between tactics and strategy is scale. I'm happy to grant that the HW games didn't have strategy if the TBS people will grant that most of their games don't have any tactics. Tactics are often as deep and complex as most strategies. They're typically on a smaller scale and over a shorter period of time. But the nature of what is being done is very similar. What's more, planning tactics isn't any easier then planning strategy.

Well, SotS suffered from a lot of problems in the real time portion. 1. Unit cap was way too low. 2. unit movement and control was too limited. 3. It was often hard to see what was going on unless you put the game into sensor mode. 4. It was hard to see what the actual weapons statistics were... I was never able to figure out damage per second on any weapon. 5. And of course there was no 3D movement of any kind... well... sometimes units would go 'ove

How 3D is the movement? Last I checked Sins plantary systems will have floors and ceilings. That is the battle space will be a cylinder instead of a sphere. This could just all be my misunderstanding. I also think ships auto level to some predetermined plane. Both of those aspects are somewhat limiting in what you can do because the ship's weapons are directional. And if the ship auto levels to a specific plane then you might have a hard time angling your weapons properly. <br/

I like real time strategy more because you have more flexibility with what you're doing. I can commonly beat a enemy two to five times my size in real time but in turn based it always seems to be a numbers game... ie whoever has more units tends to win. The thing with real time games also is that it's ALWAYS your move... you don't have to wait for them to do something. Also speed isn't always important... what is important is always doing something. Hi, I took a vacation from all this stuff for awhile and just came back to say hi... and see what's going on. I see you got a publisher, that's awsome... I'll be lurking over the forum for awhile reading everything... so I don't bother you with stupid questions
