I'm sorry, but I don't think this is enough information for us at the moment, and have posted a more detailed comment here https://forums.elementalgame.com/396951 Considering the status of the game I could not care less about converting my unbalanced resources! [e digicons][/e] There are more important things to address urgently, like giving the game more content and some balance for Christ's sake. A
I was going to post this as a reply to Frogboy’s “the Elemental all-purpose mega thread”, https://forums.elementalgame.com/396905 , but saw that these comments go beyond being only a reply to that post, so here we go. I will try to make this as constructive as possible, but please bear with me if/when I start to rant. I am slowly but steadily losing faith in Stardock’s
The hilariously bad Chapter 1 has convinced me to 100% that no new campaign Chapter will be really great. So please just go for sandbox and get the game and its balance together. The modders are already doing much more interesting work than what Random House ever came up with.
I'm all for this kind of epicness. [e digicons][/e] At least increase the number of troops in the biggest stacks so that battles look and feel more epic.
Wow, I'm really impressed by this mod in the making. The backstory is great (in fact, better than the official one for Elemental if you ask me! [e digicons]:D[/e] ). There seems to be a coherent style and fresh feeling to the world - and special credit for referring to Zothique! [e digicons][/e] It is certainly something to look forward to. As noted above, I just hope it won't be overwhelming for you to mod all of this into "existence". But if you take one thing a
Don't really know what you're after but as for magic: - Necromancy, creating undead. Vampires. Turning your sovereign into a lich. (some of this about to be modded already) - Rituals demanding several turns of uninterrupted casting, with truly global results, e.g. wrath of the (sovereign), meaning a chance for a rain of fire over all enemies at war, on the cloth map, each round ... Breaking the Law of Life: for the next 50 turns all killed units become undead ...</p

Couldn't disagree more regarding "pointless". Just because one could save/load after sov death does not mean it would always occur. Saying it's "poi

@ Eisenhound: thanks for explaining a lot more in-depth on the lore and background. As regards the factions needing to be more diverse we are in full agreement. I'll commnet a few specific points "The second thing I think we need to note is that the way the book tells it, though it doesn't really give a lot of examples, the races are fairly different." - That may be, but many players have not and will not read the book. I think this was actually part of t

A lot of good comments and ideas in the replies above. I try here to sum up a few points that Stardock can hopefully take into consideration in the future development of Elemental on this important topic: - We can’t get away from the factions and races immediately, so instead they should be seriously revamped in order to make them more unique and play differently. This can be done (hopefully rather quickly) through coming pat
@ Istari
EWoM has had obvious problems at launch that could affect its overall success via unfavourable reviews and negative internet chatter. Consider this image problem to be an illness, and the treatment to be the positive spin and friendly communications with the community.
Why don't we just cut the crap (sorry for language) on this. Did you read Frogboy's (Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock) own comments on the launch in the thread on Why everyone is so upset? I
(I'm up north on vacation typing on an extremely slow connection so bear with me) I don't think people yet fully realize the completeness of Stardock's fail on Elementa's launch. I'm going to write more about this but not only did we think v1.05 was ready for everyone but we felt v1.0 was too. That's the level of disconnect/poor judgment on our part we're talking about. If the game had come out in February, it would
As an employee of Stardock that worked on a product that many customers find sub-standard, I apologize.
Thanks a lot for quick and direct reply. It is much appreciated. And now we should better get back to pitching the game towards the 9/10 mark, indeed! [e digicons]:P[/e]
Tell me something. With all of things on that huge master list that need to be fixed, how in the world can anybody give this game a 9/10? It doesn't make sense. This game has potential but you can't review potential. You have to review what's there and there's no way that reviewer can honestly say that what came in 1.0 and is now in 1.06 is anyway near a 9/10. Maybe a 5. A 6 if you want to be generous. Stardock should be ashamed to advertise or

We eventually will have to face it: creating a GREAT game takes more than good or even great mechanics, logic and balance. In the end a great game is also an expression of ART. If there is no personality to the game it won't capture you like MoM captured a lot of people. That's why people keep playing MoM despite of bugs, bad graphics and some balancing problems. All that can be forgiven if the game has a SOUL and is a real expression of art. Just like making a good movie takes more than a go
I strongly agree unis needs MORE HP - it is just too much randomness when a mighty hero is killed by a single arrow because he has so few HP and got unlucky once. More HP, and please less retaliatory attacks, which makes it even more necessary to build and then stack troops so that they kill the enemy on first strike. A melee fight should take a few rounds so that tension mounts - not like in Elemental where even your sovereign might die from a spider bite early game.
Great post, short, inspiring, simple and constructive. [e digicons]k1[/e] It is not about doing a MoM2, it is about taking the best game concepts and inspiration from MoM to make EWoM into a much better game than the current completely unbalanced and empty-of-content version. One thing I second and want to underline is world-changing spells (rituals really) taking several turns to cast. A lot of this could be implemented in a revamped EWo
