Let's see.... I've had 2 video cards since I built the machine, about 3 years ago. The reboot thing is recent though. No I haven't removed a card... yet, but if it continues I may do so. Also, I haven't tried unplugging the machine afterwards, I'll be doing that next time. Nick - I am indeed using a power strip, but it's only been on the strip a couple of weeks, the reboot thing was happening before that. BUT the UPS it was on before had problems I think.&nbs
1) Since supcom I use zoom out-zoom in to move the map. Sometimes I click-drag. No need for cursors I think. 2) Like Wizz2mo said. Even if the icon is a sword, don't be afraid to left click, you'll have the option to hire the npc. The npc needs to be in your territory or next to your sovereign 3) Like Wizz2mo said. If you click on the little shield next to the medallions you'll have a list of all your units in the town. When
Yeah, I had considered the PSU... My boss at work mentioned it may be a virus stuck in the Bios, so I removed the battery to clear it. I only got the blue screen once, after Elemental crashed it. There was a dump on the screen, but it went by so quickly I didn't see much. Anyway, getting to the Event View after these crashes is impossible since it won't boot at all, not even in safe mode. This may be related, but the system restore feature doesn't work either, no
I think it would be better if, when you click on your notifications along the right side of the screen, that a left-click simply removes the message, while a right-click removes the message & centers you to whatever the message was about (city, hero, etc). So after being told your Mine is done, you can either clear the message or clear it and zoom to the city. Also, it would be great if you could TAB to the next city or unit with the city production window open, without havi
Just want to run this by the techies here... I have reason to believe that my IDE drive may be going bad. I loaded Windows 7 this past weekend, and have just finished reloading my system for the 4th time this morning. The first few reloads were caused by Windows not liking my version of ZoneAlarm, and then Office. After loading each of those, the system refused to boot. The last reload was caused after a crash while playing Elemental, again it wouldn't boot.</p
Thanks man, didn't notice that action section down on the bottom left. Things just got a lot easier.
The game crashes when I alt-tab out. It gives a "Fatal Error. DX Error, invalid call". Windows 7, 2gb of ram.
Just started messing with the Beta! A few questions... 1. Is there another way to scroll the screen besides moving the mouse to the edge? I'm finding that I keep wanting to scroll by using the cursor keys, and I end up moving the sov. Click-drag works, so maybe I just need to get used to that, I've never really used that method before; the cursors are like second-nature to me. 2. How do you talk to the npc's, instead of just attacking the
Dude, you're awesome, that fixed my 'white cloud' as well. I still see a bit of it, when I come across an npc the portrait on their card is whited out.
Dude, you're awesome. Thanks for the quick reply. You know, I can't for the life of me remember doing that when I dl'd it this morning, but obviously I did. *shrugs*
Man, I am having the worst luck over here. I ordered the game this morning and it didn't run right. My pc has been acting up lately, shutting off randomly, text boxes disappearing from websites, etc, so I figured a reload was in order. After blowing away the partitioning, my xp pro cd is refusing to format any drive (I tried 3), and won't recognize a drive formatted on my 2nd pc, which was loaded from that same disc. Looks like I'll be upping to win7 tomorrow :(&
Edit: removed obsolete issue - the pc with the issue went kaput.
It doesn't... I didn't realize Steam had a mp service that checked for hackers & banned offenders until I read this thread. Afterwards, I incorrectly assumed that since MW2 uses Steam, then Steam must be running their mp service as well, and that's what made me laugh because here I read someone got banned, yet I used to see hackers in almost every game I joined. But now I've been set straight. Still hate the service though, probably not Steam's fault but more becau
I'd get a lawer, one of those small civil-suit ones. You paid for the game, you should be able to play it. Period. Anyway I'm adding Paradox to my blacklist, right under Blizzard, EA, and Activision, because of what I read on this forum. And so the list grows... yay. At least you accomplished something with this vent. Damn man, at this rate the only developers I'll still be doing business with will be Stardock & Firaxis. I really can't see
So what does the game use it for, just managing updates and contacts? I guess that explains why so many hackers abound in multi.
Funny seeing that banned message from Steam... so they actually do check for hackers eh? Do you know how many hackers I see online in COD6? Or used to see? I quit playing it. I hate Steam, I hate the fact I have to install 3rd party softare to play something I paid $60 for, even in single player mode. I got ticked off at Steam the other day and removed it from the computer, and whala, Cod got removed too. Had to put it back, because right now my 11 yo. so
^^ I am :) I currently have a game of Pirates running now, matter of fact.
So many worlds, so few modders.... I would love to see any mods from the D&D world, be it Greyhawke, Forgotten Realms, Ravenloft, Dragonlance, etc etc... I'd love to see one based in Starside, home of the Wamphyri! For those who don't know the Wamphyri are vampire lords from Brian Lumley's Necroscope novels. I wonder how feasible it would be to break out of the fantasy genre and do a sci-fi or cyberpunk mod. All it would need is a different tile set &am
Sorry if this has already been answered, I only read the first thread. Does Stardock have to wait until the retail release date to release the game via download? Seems to me if the game is finished well ahead of Feb, but too late for August, they could still release the download, at least for the preorders, while everyone else waits until Feb to get it at the store. Or doesn't it work like that? I guess if you're in the beta then you'll have some version of the game
wow, that looks great. someone needs to make a sins of a solar empire mod.
Hell yeah, especially since I can't Sins to work on my pc. Have no idea why, either, because it worked just fine in the past...
The tech system will take some getting used to, but I think I like it. It kind of makes more sense, since you are playing the part of the 'king', and not directing every little thing. Instead of funding your scholars to 'discover archery so we can use bows!', like how the hell do you even know what a 'bow' is if the knowledge has been lost, you are paying your scholars to 'find ways to improve our military'. Maybe they'll come up with bows, maybe not... </
I'd like to see the AI have some intentional personality flaws. Like maybe an AI who holds a grudge way too much, and expends an inordinate amount of resources just trying to get revenge against an enemy who killed one of his offspring many years earlier.
Who says that's a flaw? I know if someone killed one of my offspring (interesting way to think of them), I'd hunt them down to the ends of the
Just want to add that it would be nice if the option to 'auto resolve' a battle was available at any time during a fight. If the battle is a bunch of weaklings you don't give a dang about, then you can hit it at the onset of the battle and skip right to the end. If there are several strong units, you can fight it out yourself, then once one side has effectively 'lost' before it's over, you can hit it to avoid having to mop up the remnants manually. Havi
Random, random all the way! Jeez, just imagine how bland the tactical combat would be, once you've played through the game enough to see all the premade maps. "Oh, this one, I know just what to do on this map!" As far as withdrawals, I vote to allow them, but why not do both ways? How feasible would it be to simply add an option "allow withdrawals", doesn't seem like it should be too complex to me... As far as handling retreating, I'd like to see the units' com
Anyone here remember Demon's Winter? In that, each character had a base class, but when they levelled they received points to spend towards skills. The cost of the skills depended on their core class. A wizard could learn to use the sword, but it was expensive and cost a lot, just like a fighter could learn to use some magic, but again it was expensive. The sword skill might cost a wizard 10 points, but it cost a fighter 3 (sword being the most expensive combat class,
