Spears used to do more damage, but they were nerfed. Swords used to do more damage (with counterattack), but they were nerfed. Predictably, some think clubs are clearly superior (though that is debatable). If Stardock agrees with you (I see no evidence that they do) their solution will be to nerf clubs. At which point I imagine we'll be flooded with posts about how axes are OP.

I'd be OK with boats if they were very abstracted. Like you could sail from one city to another and it would take a set number of turns. Crusader Kings style. The map could also have resources for "port towns" that you could sail to and from. Idon't really care but the less I need to manually control boats the happier I'll be.

And yet, for all its polish, Civ V is still an utterly boring exercise in button pushing. They should fix the save bug. They might address some exploits (not requiring resources to upgrade units) -- though I doubt it. I think, in a few weeks, we'll see a patch to upgrade the AI and maybe a couple more like that over the next 6 months as long as Brad's interested and then Stardock will move on and leave LH to the modding community.

I agree in general with everything except #5 Crushing blow is not at all OP. It's just not. Yes, it allows weaker units to punch above their weight class. But the crushing blow weapons come with a significant initiative penalty. So you're almost guaranteed not to get first strike and if the target survives (or dodges!), your unit is likely to be swarmed and destroyed before it can move again. That's the tradeoff. If you can&#3
City militias might play an important role at the start of the game, making it hard to instantly overrun the AI factions, but later on they are too easily overrun.
Which is exactly what Stardock wanted. City militias are supposed to deter early game rushing. By the mid-game everyone should be able to build troops and defend their territory themselves.

The AI figured out how to cast strategic spells in real life . Now our only hope for salvation lies in the hands of the one man brave enough to lead us: John Connor. (Fortunately, Dereck never designed a "time travel" spell for the game, so I think we're gonna be fine.)

#2 on city location, I suspect that sometimes the AI hasn't scouted the entire area when it sends out a pioneer. The pioneer may reveal a better spot while it approaches the target location, but the AI wont change targets. #5 on stacks, I think the AI doesn't grok what happens when a Tornado hits its stack. When that happens the AI forgets what it was doing with that stack because it forgets the stack ever existed. From its perspective it's got a bunch of

Monster level is important. So even if the threat level is the same if the mob is higher level it will give more xp. On top of which the base xp a monster gives is defined per monster type so it's possible that the monster your sov killed is just not giving out an appropriate amount of xp regardless of the other factors. Ialso kinda suspect that the length of the battle also plays into the resultant xp. Could just be be coincidence but I wouldn't put it past Stardock at

lol. that is a goofy bug. Probably related, but I noticed playing the Scenario that the icon for henchman changes when you change his equipment. If you buy your henchman a horse, the icon when training another of that henchman will show a horse even if the unit doesn't actually start with a horse.

Hmmm, thank you for posting a screenshot. I had seen people reporting this but didn't know you could look for that information on the Foreign Relations screen. In my game Hard/Hard, turn 161 I see that Yithril has -210 iron, Magnar has -21 Mana, Pariden has -30 Crystal, and the three other AIs (Tarth, Kraxis, and Resoln) have all their stats above 0. I have never seen #1. Does it show negative amounts in the Trade screen? If I had to guess, I'd bet it's a bug in the way the AI upgrades its units (in that it doesn't check if it can afford it, it just does it). Edit. Ah, I see the other thread where someone posted a screenshot. Honestly, in the game I am currently playing, if the Yithril weren't cheating I would have already won this game at turn 100. So, kudos to Stardock for cheating!&

Don't worry that someone might pirate your game. If it's good enough they will. DRM should be the last thing on your mind. What you should be worried about (besides making a good game) is how your customers will find your game and buy it. How will you collect feedback from players and communicate news and distribute updates. It's possible to do all that without Steam or any other service, of course. It's just that Steam makes all that and more effor
