You can definitely play the game. It ran smoothly on my Surface Pro 2 (at least the first few dozen turns) and looks just as crisp as on my PC. But playing on the Surface sapped all the enjoyment I had for the game. The interface is too awkward (lots of right-clicking) that it's not enjoyable. I was constantly sending units to the wrong tile in both the main map and the battle map. IIRC, I also ended up having to zoom way in to have any accuracy which then resulted in making the experienc

Things you need to do to win in the Console game: 1. Have a better controller than the Microsoft or SONY 2. Have more/better titles than Microsoft or SONY Hardware & OS are largely irrelevant. As far as I can tell, the SteamBox has neither. It's a niche product for people who want to pay $1000 to stream games from their computer to the TV. That's some niche. [e digicons]:(O[/e]

Things I wish I knew when starting out. When to just start a new game. The random maps can sometimes screw you. So scouting early on is very important just to determine whether your start position is viable. Reading the tea leaves, but I think Stardock has expanded in size to the point where they can actually develop multiple games at one point. So when Frogboy says
Fallen Enchantress will continue to go forward with meaningful updates that we’re funding with the DLC purchases.
He means that they're making enough money from DLC sales to continue investing money in development for the franchise. They can keep staffing the game, and putting resou

Lol @ the piracy thread hijack. @Simegall: Well played, sir! Piracy is just a reality of game development. Pirating games is not ethical, but it is not stealing. And a pirate, by definition, would never pay for the game, so it doesn't affect game budgets or take food out of the mouths of developers.

Any project that requires division of labor is susceptible to the issues you're pointing out. I don't really think that using helper functions written by others is the issue (after all, the graphic designers use helper functions -- and the UI team and the audio team...). If it is pathfinding, I would guess that it's trying to pathfind to the other side of the city. It can't do that because the city takes up the tiles between the ocean and the gorge. So the monsters just stand there scratching their butts. Hmm, could it be that AI improvements are somehow blocking monsters from pathfinding into cities? So when the player takes the city over the improvements are destroyed and then the pathfinding succeeds and the monst
