Refund because you disagree with the expansion pack thing? White Room ----> At least you are considering to ask for it politely, which is a very nice thing.

Welcome!
I think most people are disappointed with the game, even now with the new patch, because there was too much hype in the beginning. People were expecting this to be the holy grail of fantasy strategy game. I come to the game without expecting anything.....and wow.
I took a carefree attitude very early so I have never been dissapointed per se (that doesn't mean that some parts are not "meh" compared to what I would p

Whats the point of customizing your appearance if it changes everytime..
They mean the Sovereign creator, when you enter it and start browsing the different races.
I am relatively sure that WoM won't get much beyond support patches after 1.2.
Except for improving the AI, bug fixes, performance issues and tweaking some things, I don't see War of Magic "needing" much more. At least that's what I think and somehow what I infer from Frogboy's comments in the past. In any case, Gal Civ II reached 2.0, so why not WoM?

O_o I can play Dread Lords (Galactic Civilizations II). Or I can play Dark Avatar (not standalone if memory serves), which alters stuff of Dread Lords (like spionage) in addition to add new stuff. Or I can play Twilight of the Arnor (not standalone if memory serves), which alters even more stuff from Dark Avatar and/or Dread Lords (like spionage, again) in addition to add new stuff. 3 different games. Pre-1.0: Sovereign imbued land with his Essence. The "ZoC" increased as that Essence's effect grew, altering the landscape based on the alliegance of the Sov (life/death stuff). Now: Mundane pioneer starts a settlement. It "magically" alters the landscape despite no Essence or any magic being involved. Because pioneers don't use mana when creating cities or when recruited. It seems to be just the Sovereign's will for it to happen. From a "lore" point of view, a pity.
Also , this game isn't going to do everything. I mean, you don't get a pony just for playing Elemental. Some things are going to have to be left out/abstracted- just to avoid an overbloated design. If you're really into dynasties- Crusader Kings might hold you over for a bit. (Sequel to that comes out soon also)
With All Mighty Jon Shafer a

If everything were fine, multiplayer would have higher priority but as things are, doesn't make much sense to prioritize it. That said, and as someone that has paid for that part of the game (d'oh, like anyone who has bought the game), I hope that with 1.2 things start getting well for multiplayer. One of these days when I have time for a TBS multiplayer game, I'd like it to actually work and be fun. XD
Stardock has a history of creating amazing single player games. It is not the best company around for a multiplayer experience.
They cannot learn to make amazing multiplayer games if they don't try making them. If Society is ever to be done, they need good "multiplayer skills".
You can always find something to disparage people for if you try hard enough.
I cannot wait for someone buying the game in 2012 and complaining that he should get the first expansion for free because it's not his fault if he didn't get the chance to know about the game and the deal in time for 2010/12/31.:P
