Why won't Starcraft II live up to the best RTS of the past decade? Because the best RTS of the last decade was Total Annihilation. Okay, okay, yeah, TA came out in '97, but you know what I mean. Starcraft II looks like it will be a carbon copy of Starcraft, except with better graphics. If you want to improve on a game with a sequel, do what Chris Taylor did with TA and Supreme Commander, even though SC isn't an official sequel. Frankly, the second best RTS (or at least the m

I suspect that a level 1 Jarrasul Evacuator with nano-disassembler and bombers is capable of defeating any other level 1 capital ship. Anyone want to give it a shot? I don't find it surprising that some ships are, 1 on 1, more powerful than battleships. The Marza may win, but how readily can it target enemies assaulting it from all sides? The Radiance and the Kortul certainly do not have that problem. They may not be more powerful one on one, but I suspect that versus frigat

This is a stretch, but this game doesn't take advantage of multiple cores. Might your processor be a bottleneck on a large map like that? Just a suggestion. I am limited to the size of map I can play because my C2D can't quite keep up.
I can run it on medium at 1280x800 on a dual core with an 8600M GT. If I had to guess, I'd say you have the resolution pumped way up. Drop it down and try again. It should run at least decently, and contrary to what people are saying, it is an enjoyable game. Really!
Really interesting. I look forward to hearing more.
Vanilla SupCom supports both DX9 and DX10, where as the expansion supports only DX9.There is no graphical selection like in other multi-DX games, you either run DX10 or you dont. They also stated, which made me a bit wary when I saw the "high-res" videos of the expansion, that they will no longer be supporting DX10 (since the market was so small)
This . . . just isn't true. Look anywhere, and the only mention of DirectX 10 in regards to Supreme Commander will be that it w
For further reference, Supreme Commander (Orignal, not the expansion) runs DX10 & DX9 as well - and the difference between the DX9 and DX10 versions are dramatic.DX9 on SupCom *vanilla* is a lot slower on my system, and looks like Empire Earth 2.DX10, with the graphics turned all the way up, looks like some divine entity came down and said "you are not worthy - but you will TASTE MY POWER UNBELIVER!"Its a very big difference, infact the difference was so big that when I picked up SupCom :
DX10 is a resource eater. Also: why do you have a quad core, 3gb of ram, and an 8500 GT? I'm not trying to be rude, but your video card is a bottleneck.
Whoops, double post.
Dirty, dirty Advent. I think that I like them the best. Excellent story. I'm looking forward to more.
Galactic Civilizations II, and Heroes of Might and Magic II and V. I haven't played any of the other HOMM games, but in all seriousness, give them a shot if you like fantasy 4x. Really fun combat.
I realize that this is bad manners, but . . . . . . bump.
I think that this may be a problem, specifically, with fleets, although I'm not sure. I'm having an issue where ships (a fleet) will not move when I select a destination that is more than four or five parsecs away. I know it's not a range issue, so it's pretty strange (for me). I can move them a few squares at a time, but never longer distances. The destination marker simply doesn't move. When I click a space, the ships will actually show in their statuses that they
I noticed the first bug this afternoon. It happened twice with a scout on auto-explore. Never seen it before.
Dread Lords. I would love to see a tie-in with Galactic Civilizations here.
I don't even get any noticeable graphical issues from this. It is, for me, a matter of performance.
Constantine and Fate, I love your ships. Please post more! The Terran Allied Systems Europa is clearly most powerful vessel in the Terran Defense Navy (TDN). Eclipsing previous designs, the Europa utilizes an advanced modular hull system, allowing for multiple configurations and faster construction. Additionally, the overall shape of the ship is sleeker and less cluttered, providing an opportunity for
https://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/307669 Here's a thread addressing this issue generally.
This is described in the link provided, but I thought it would be useful to actually create a thread requesting this. To put this in perspective, here are my specifications: 2.2 GHZ C2D 160 GB 7200 RPM HDD 8600M GT 512MB DDR2 3 GB RAM I run the game on max settings, excepting anti-aliasing and bloom, at a resolution of 1680 x 1050. I will happily say that this game runs spectacularly, and with beautiful graphics. Beyond that, I simply love it, and will c
Someone should make a thread requesting that these effects not stack. It's the main (only?) cause of graphical slowdown I face. Especially with the Advent's tentacle starbust effect, multiple instances of it occurring at once destroy my performance.
[q
I like the evacuator. It would have been cooler had they made the city structure visible (eg. buildings) through a transparent cover, but I'll go for a whale.
You can see a city at the top rear of the ship.
Worst ship designs? It's got to be the Vasari capital ships except for the Vulkoras Desolator. The Jarrasul Evacuator is absolutely the worst design in the game.I'd say the best ship designs go to the Cobalt, Kol, Radiance, Rapture, Disciple, and Dest
That would be terrible. I am all about this story. I'd pay a few bucks to read the whole thing, if I had to.
As exciting as this is, I have to point out my ardent hope that Stardock can keep Demigod from being an insane resource hog. Because, well, Supreme Commander (and Forged Alliance) sure as hell are, and if its the same engine . . . bad feelings abound. Still, this is very exciting. I read the interview on Gamasutra the other day, and Impulse and the (new?) business model look very promising as well. I'm surprised to see Chris Taylor working with Stardock after his recent state
Can you do that in multiplayer though? After all you are assuming the enemy will try to run away.....if I saw a fleet with 2 evacuators I would jump for joy and attack instead of retreat...evacs are weaksauce if they didn't have Colonize i would never use them.
Evacuators are weaksauce? This is news to me. Last time I checked, they could kill a heavy cruiser in one shot with nano-disassembler fully leveled-up.
