Agree the Magic should be broken down by area of magic. Book of Earth Magic - spell 1 - spell 2 etc. Book of Air Magic - spell 1 - spell 2 etc. In game when you look at a magic user you can't even tell what books of magic they have. I took a break from the beta for 1.5 months to finish my masters thesis. I come back and the game has improved greatly, this game is going to be amazing. To make the game even better something needs to be done about the way the channelers learn magic. The current system for researching new spells is clunky and the selection of spells is arbitrary. I understand that I am posting very late in the development cycle and will fully understand if the following ideas are disregarded out of

But yea, if you're turtling in some corner of the world with no resources, you're going to get wiped out if you try to win through brute force. You would need to focus on quests.
I was not assuming to win through brute force as such a tactic would obviously fail. What I am getting at is what would prevent you from becoming an expansion target? Would quests have macro/micro effects on your nati

Correct me if I am wrong but where not many fortunes made and much influence exerted(through loans) by Italian and Baltic merchant republics in the real world during the renaissance? Through this they where able to exert much larger influence than they would traditionally exert. The world that you described above seems too narrow without this possibility. It seems that the evident strategies would be to become huge control a lot of shards both
These aren't random events. It's noise on the data it receives.
Frogboy, have you by chance read any books by F. A. Hayek? He wrote several highly influential papers on the state and origin of knowledge and information. The concept that you have laid out concerning "noise on the data" fits almost exactly into his theories. I will forgo the wall'o'text expounding on his theories. If you are interested y

The cities that stand out most in my mind from RPG's are the ones from Elder Scroll's III. I remembers pending many hours playing this game and I liked the contrast between all off the cities. Be it the grunginess of Ald'ruhn, "your" house in Balmora, the temples and intrigue of Vivec, or the vines of Sadrith Mora all where very unique and reflected the differences of the controlling nobles. I would love for Elemental to be able to convey similar differences in architectural style and

The weakness of being blunt should apply only to characters that dont have that weakness also. If you are a blunt individual then you most likley prefer people to be very straight forward(blunt) with you too. As such, there should be a bonus at most or no penalty at least to relations between characters that share this weakness.

Ah, yes. I forgot that when your channeler dies it is GAME OVER... I think that is seriously handycapping the games diplomatic strategic potential but that is just me. I also find it a bit simplistic considering that it was previously stated that the diplomatic/inheritance system would use the series, "A Song of Ice and Fire" as inpiration. Then again a full inheritance system similar to EU3 may be a bit much for more cassual players.

That sounds a bit off to me. According to Primogentiture, inheritance passes to the oldest male relative of the primary line. Alternativley there is also Cognatic Primogentiture where the oldest child(male or female) inherits all. Your example does not follow either of these systems. The way you have it set up the AI will always lose inheritance to the player...
Hence, if I marry my daughter off to the first born son of the sovereign of Kraxis and that sov

I had some graphics bugs and RCTD until I started running the game in windowed mode. That solved all of my issues...
You're already doing this to a certain extent with the different mana types. If you start the game sitting next to 3 fire shards, you're probably going to end up using a lot of fire magic.
Why not further use the mana to modify mundane materials to make your magical materials rather than mine them directly?

There are three general types of resources: food, industry, and luxury. Food I believe that the game currently abstracts food well enough that additional resources of that type may just clutter the game. As such they may be able to be done without. Industry As Frogboy suggeste

The reason your card was charged was because all pre-orders get access to the game betta process which began within the time period you describe the charge occuring. This triggers the charge b/c you are getting a form of the game at an earlier date and will have access to all versions between then and release as well as have imput on balancing and possible features...
