I find that laptops are unpredictable in terms of how well they can play games. Mine can play Sins at max, while struggles with ETW at low/medium. Not that this is much of a problem given that my old pc was such a pile of junk it lagged on low with Sins.
Um... isn't that taking double posting to an extreme? anyway, since you mentioned TW, I remember a game called Imperial Glory that was released a few years ago, that was basically an inferior TW clone. One thing that really sucked was the land combat, because there was no moral system or routing. This meant that units always fought to the last man, and since battles were limited to about 6 or 7 units a side at most (can't remember exactly) it basically meant
I'm playing the Europa Barbarorum mod of RTW until there's a few patches out (which there will be soon). If you think the fallout from the Demigod server issues was bad, you weren't on the ETW forums in the days after release.
$80 is ludicrous. Where did you get that figure from?
That's quite an old Graphics card in PC terms. It may be that NVidia didn't check compatibility very well with old cards for their new drivers.
Spore was very much an experiment, and some experiments just don't come off. The main problem I think was that in order to appeal to more hardcore gamers (like the people reading this as opposed to people who occasionally play The Sims), it needed to not have EA on its back, but such was the technical undertaking, it needed EAs money to work. I don't consider it as bad as some people say it is - they are trying to compare it to 'real' games like GalCiv, SoaSE etc
Should be the 14th. They could get in a bit of trouble for that.
Probably a bit too far IMHO. Spore suffered from trying to do too much, it tried to have so many features that in the end none of them were particularly good. Games like Sins and GalCiv work well because they don't try and do too much.

I won't claim to understand this thread [e digicons]>_>[/e]
It has been mentioned by the honourable Frog himself. I can't see it being released before Demigod is launched for obvious reasons. So hopefully late April or May. Apparently its going to be a very basic beta to start with, it will be on a basic cloth map while they make the make graphics engine useable. So it will be a real beta-testers beta without much of the functionality. I wouldn't expect the main graphics and the like to appear until later
There is no limit on the number of downloads. Aren't Stardock nice? [e digicons]:inlove:[/e]
Hmmmm... I only have one gripe. The black egdes around every object makes it look a tad bitmappy, or maybe like stickers on a frigde. The french diablo clone silver fall had the same cartoonish effect but to me it seemed like all objects where sort of not part of the enviroment.
Read the disclaimer. It won't look like that when its released, those are probably just placeholders until
I remember an interview with one of the cast of Lord of the Rings where he said "our biggest fear was that sometimes depite all the right ingredients being there, a film just doesn't quite click. But when we first saw what Peter had emerged from the cutting room with, we knew it had" If this was being completely internally developed, I might have had that very fear. But given the massive betaing EWOM is going to have, I simply can't see that happening.
I agree - change the thread title
I wouldn't mind a council of sorts, maybe a council of men and a council of the fallen. Perhaps the best way to implement it would be after each eampire is developed to a certain extent and everyone is aware of each other - maybe a race could develop the ablilty to summon a council, where you choose whether to attend or not. The main thing that annoyed me a bit with the UP in GC2 was the fact that it only included races you'd run into, which seemed a bit wierd.</p
Lol it could only be a Stardock forum when a) The CEO starts threads in OT and b ) the CEO's wife posts on it [e digicons]:P[/e]
If SD can pull off this sort of thing then it would be quite an achievement, because there is a very fine balance between a) giving smaller empires a chance, b) not doing this in such a way as to make it pointless to attack so nobody does anything the whole game and c) not making it too much a game of luck, which can be spectacularly frustrating.
RTS, TBS, what are you looking for. If you want a TBS then look no further than GalCiv II. RTS, there isn't anything bigger than SoaSE as far as I know

There are different ratings where I live (UK) but I don't play any 18+ games and only have 2 16+ games. My parents haven't banned me from playing them (or hadn't banned, seeing as I'm now 18) simply because they seemed to have decided years ago that I'm perfectly capable of working out what I should and shouldn't play. But its up to individual parents. Admittedly I played almost no games until I was 10 or so, mainly due to parental influence - they had figured that there wer
