Ah shucks... I'm going to have to say something just to get it off my chest. EWoM is not a 7 nor will it be an 8 when 1.2 comes out. Gal Civ 2 in it's final state is an 8 out of 10 and you're saying that EWoM 1.2 is going to be as good as Gal Civ 2? No freakin way! As a point of reference, I'm suggesting Gal Civ 2 is an 8 based on games like Diablo 2, Civ IV, Starcraft, World of Warcraft, and others being better than Gal Civ 2 and would fall into the 9 or 10 out of 10

[quote who="Frogboy" reply="14" id="2861794"]With the benefit of hindsight here's how I'd rate the game: v1.0: 4 out of 10 v1.1: 6 out of 10 v1.11: 7 out of 10 It's getting there. I'm thinking v1.2 will bring it to an 8 out of 10. My biggest pet peeves are the AI and the UI. The diplomacy part of the game still needs a lot work to get it to GalCiv II levels. The UI is still very obscure. Jon, Derek, and I have spent some time going
Jon Shafer is going to love me. I like playing Civ 5 and EWoM at the same time... Late in the game, when it starts to take 30-60 seconds between turns on Civ 5, I can usually get 3 or 4 turns in on EWoM. (Remember my post asking Brad to teach Firaxis how to write multi-threaded AI?) Oh, but that's not what you asked. I'll just say "friends don't let friends buy this game ... yet" and leave it at that.
Sorry bootrick. They already announced who the third hire is. Nice try!
I nailed the Jon Shafer hiring earlier in this thread... now we just need Heavenfall to fess up. When do you start Heavenfall?
[quote who="Derek Paxton" reply="16" id="2859373"] Toby and I were making fun of each other in skype today until one of the new hires laughed at both of us for all the back in forth in skype when we were sitting right beside each other at adjacent desks. You mean the one about Heavenfall joining Stardock? I figured that one out a long time ago. Or do you mean the one about Jon Shafer (ex-Firaxis) joining Stardock? Those are my two guesses.
Does anybody have any extra chill pills? I could use one.

I tried out 1.1D last night and the first city I found was Tarth. Guess what they were building? Yep, you guessed it. Pioneers. No defenders at all and building pioneers so I killed them. Freakin wussy AI!
Unfortunately, we've all asked for the exact same things 100 times but Stardock hasn't said a word. I know they're all sleeping over Christmas break so maybe in January they'll say something. In the meantime, I'm just going to have to play some new games, old games, or get a new hobby.
Hey Frog, Are you teaching the AI to go after alternative victory conditions?
Ok now with GW Swicord's post it's summed up right? ;-)
By the way, does this mean there is an 11D out there?
Hey Frog, You mentioned population in your post. I've mentioned this several times that the first building AI/players should be building in the current game is a hut if you're a farmer (i guess you needs farms first if you're not a farmer). AI/players are not putting enough value on population right now. Population drives your economy and higher end buildings. When I see players/AI stopped at a max population limit, I just shudder. That should never happe
Thanks Frog! So now I'm asking for it. 5 opponents (all Empire / all ridiculous). I'm the lone Kingdom faction on a medium map. This will hopefully give them some time to build up and kick my bumper. Unfortunately, here's the first stupid AI trick. Magnar did not bring his best troops to attack me and so he died. <a href="http://content.screencast.com/users/trojasmic/folders/Default/media/92dcb9ab-84c7-47f6-99b3-09a1a98cfc02/AI_didn%2
So I take over the second city and Relias steps into my ZOC...game over. Aside from the obvious mistake (stepping into my ZOC alone), Relias did some thing else that was a little strange. When I first moved towards his main city, he came out alone and attacked me. This is possibly a good strategic move if the enemy sovereign has lots of magic he can do to soften my troops because even if he dies, he just respawns in the nearest city. The problem was that he onl
Hi Brad, I thought Altar's first city was pretty well defended so I decided to walk past it and see what other cities they have. So the AI made a pretty good first city on ridiculous, but look at the second city. Max pop, no production, no defenders, and building what troops? Yep, you guessed it pioneers. Argh. The other thing is that I walked right passed the AI city which had 5 guys (armor class or whatever you call it) of 62. My little band is
Ok so apparently Altar is the only AI I have on ridiculous. I was happy to see they had built two observers and had purchased new weapons for the spouse and recruited champion before building a pioneer. Excellent! Discretion is the better of valor. I will have to come back to fight another day. I'm going to keep my eye on that pioneer though. Watch out! ;-) By the way, the resources this city is producing on turn 39 are ridiculous; hence, the

[quote who="Frogboy" reply="17" id="2854300"]World Difficulty has nothing to do with AI difficulty. It just determines the placement of resources and how many monsters there will be. As you can see, in your screenshot there, the city is getting a lot of resources. Certainly, if you're on a tiny map you can rush the AI. There's not much that I can say about that other than only you can decide if you want to do that or not. But if you think you can take th
As luck would have it, I found Umber next. Take a look at the differences. So is Altar cheating or Umber sucking or both?
Ok maybe third time is the charm... just found Altar on turn 7 and they already have +9 gildar, +10 research, and +10 prestige ... LOL! that's more like it! obviously, they must be getting some crazy bonus on ridiculous which is fine. The only problem is something I mentioned earlier... they are stuck at max population because they haven't built a hut yet. Build a hut first thing dude! So maybe it is Umber that has the problem. Can you double-check Umber?
