Derek, I know you don't always take my ideas but I would really like white cake with white frosting (and not that crappy-tasting, good-for-you cream cheese frosting)... I want the frosting mom used to make from Cisco shortening.

Think of Civ 5 like Chess. It plays more like a game of Chess to me than Civilization. That's how I personally got over the "why did you kill Civ 5 Jon?" attitude myself. I think they should have called it Civilization Chess I instead of Civilization V.

Hi Derek, Will you please add a highlight to the active city/army on the left-hand side of the screen? Whenever I'm scrolling through each one to manage a city or an army, it's easy to lose track of where I am in the list when you have a lot of cities and armies that all look alike... which reminds me, it would be nice to have a scroll bar show up once we've gone past the limit of visible cities/armies in that list. Let me know if that makes sense; otherwise, I can send

I'm sorry you guys lost 4 hours of your lives that you'll never get back playing the campaign. Lucky for me, I haven't played it yet. The fact that Lord Xia got crushed the other day gives me hope. I might have to fire EWOM up again in a few weeks.
If you do not like a particular facet of the game, then use the tools you have to try and fix them.
Unfortunately, most of us don't have the modding skills like you guys. I'm really glad you guys have done a lot to try and fix the blandness, but a lot of those things I would have expected to be in this game already (interesting and distinct factions, interesting items with prefixes and suffixes, more heroes and champions with unique skills, better spells, techs, q

Here's my fear... If 1.2 is only going to address AI, UI, and defects, does that mean ... ? a ) the hero/champion system in EWOM is finished? Will there not be any more updates to the way this works in EWOM? No skill trees? No new heroes representing each of the EWOM races? No new hero abilities? I've heard you say that you want the focus to be on the sovereign so will there even be any changes to the hero/champion system in Fallen Enchantress? b
Quoting TheProgress, reply 16 Quoting Derek Paxton, reply 8 Yes, this is the 1.2 beta. If this is the beta for 1.2, what are the big focusing points for the 1.2 patch? Is it all fixes or are there new additions / overhauls? 1.2 is about UI, AI and bug fixes. It is not a feature patch (at least not on the big level for things like Global Mana and changing to a Population economy).
<

Dear Jon, Are you in charge of polish for 1.2? Can we put some Civ V polish on this bad boy?
It is now time for people to place their bets on how many letters there will be in the 1.19 series. What did we get up to in 1.09? Anyone remember?
I think it was "p" (just a guess...can't remember). My bet on 1.2 is "t" for Trojasmic.

If this is 1.19, then 1.19a must be the first beta release of 1.2 right? [e digicons]:D[/e] By the way, what changes are we making in 1.2?

Don't build a beacon of hope first because you end up with it just sitting there being useless why your pop cap is maxed. Your build order should be something like workshop/study/farm/hut/beacon of hope, workshop/farm/hut/study/beacon of hope. You change the order of workshop build if you find materials in a goodie hut. You can start with hut first if you choose the farmer trait for your sovereign. Growing population fast is the name of this game. I try to never

I have to admit that reading/writing in these forums is a lot of fun and I'd give that part of the game a 10/10. :-) It's fun to suggest really cool ideas and then have the community or someone from Stardock say "yeah, that's a really cool idea". It's fun to bash the game for all its flaws knowing that it's only going to help the game get better. It's fun to bash the trolls who try to stir up trouble. It's fun to see what Lord Xia is going to write next.<
GalCiv II in its "final state" has a 93 metacritic score. I'm pretty familiar with how PC games get reviewed and what kinds of scores they can expect. If Elemental:War of Magic v1.11 was reviewed today, I'm pretty confident it would get reviews ranging between 3 and 4 stars depending on the venue. v1.0, which I gave a 4, got a 4 from Gamespot but other than obscure websites its average was betwe

I'm all for city specialization, but I'm not a fan of its current implementation. Making one city with 20 +1 research buildings and another city with 15 +1 arcane buildings and another city with 10 +1 workshops and great mill, etc., is just not all that interesting. Here are some ideas to make it more interesting: Cities specializing in research could do something like this: +1 research study (applies to general research ... this already exists today) +1
Played some game now. The AI was obviously outexpanding me (I'm slow ) and then Altar and Capitar declared war on me. That was in turn 120 or so. AI had about 6-8 cities each, while I had 4. What it didn't had though, was good units. So I built my 14 attack, 9 defense on Worgen Battlemaidens. Each city of mine built one of them and then I grouped 2 of them up each and went out, slaughtering about 50 enemy units in total and conque
