An easy fix for this would be to have a status effect "Defending" that floated from the unit anytime it applied, like all the other status affects that can happen due to magic & abilities.
I don't think it is a problem. A shield icon appears on the unit as soon as the defense bonus gets applied, and stays until the next turn. This should be enough of an indicator. At least in my opinion. However, I don't think the Defendi
#2. What is this defence stance? A shield icon over the units in tactical? What it provides and how to activate it? I`m quite new to the game, so i`m unaware of some things.
If your units does nothing but move during its turn, it is considered to be defending. This grants it a +5 bonus to defense. You can increase the bonus further by using shields and getting certain traits.

Nor any other game-client.
Yes, it is a pretty big oversight that it is not mentioned anywhere. But basically it means, that the XP gets divided by the amount of champions in the party. Two champions mean, that you only get half the XP, three champions mean one third, and so on. Regular units always get half the

You probably need to click on the little arrows on the right side of the 'Rename' button. They say 'More Options', if you mouse-over them, and should bring up the 'Raze' button, if you click them. Another possibility to destroy a city is Curgen's Volcano. You need to research Third Book of the Magi in the magic tech tree to unlock it. It costs a lot of mana to cast, but it will destroy the target city and the surrounding area without fail.

You can't. Non-aggression pacts, alliance and tribute treaties work a set amount of turn. The rest work indefinitely. There is currently a bug, which allows the AI to end treaties before the expiring date, but that gets hopefully fixed soon.

I guess the mechanics might have changed then.
I played Yithril in my last game and had nine towns with the guild grocer. My Tough bonus was at 100%. There seems to be no limit, as far as I can see. I also never noticed one during the beta.

Just how much influence is needed for henchmen to appear so you can select to build them?
You need 50.
So I have to custome design a henchman unit for any to show up?
Not necessarily. Having even one point of Influence is enough for the standard designs to appear, and you would still need it to train your custom ones.
In one of my games, I researched the tech for getting henchmen, but I wasn't able to get any. How do you get them? Are they attracted to your city from your city influence/prestige, or do you have to go out and find them like a hero?
They need Influence to train, and if you don't have any, the standard designs won't show up.

For raising land I didn't try it personally but I read you need to do it twice on an ocean tile to go from ocean->beach->plain. You may have to start on the coast and work outward.
Raise Land doesn't work on ocean tiles anymore. I just tested and confirmed this in my game.

This is definitely a bug and has been reported before. I experienced it myself during the beta on challenging difficulty.

I don't use auto select in my games, but manual selecting with the Tab key does not work if units have a move/attack order, are guarding, or are stationed in a city. My guess is, that auto select works the same way. If that is not what you experience, could you be more specific?

The more champions, the less the base XP. If you are playing Altar, however, you can train Henchmen. They work similar to champions, but count as regular units for XP-splitting purposes.<br
