Oh, and btw - NO DRM and NO STEAM on Worlds of Magic!!!
Hey, I pre-ordered the deluxe version Elemental War of Magic and have played FE since the early betas. Really like FE, but it is an entirely different game compared to MoM. I have also played countless hours of Age of Wonder SM (including several of the excellent fan mods). Also a very good game, and, as you say, closer to MOM than FE is, but there is still plenty of room for something even closer to MOM. Myself, I only stumbled upon the Kickstarter for Worlds
Still time to get in on this game! Only $18...what do you have to loose?!?!
Agreed - they did an excellent job with the city screen - VERY nostalgic!
Project has been funded - now on to the stretch goals! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/304725524/worlds-of-magic-a-new-classic-4x-fantasy-game
Only 8 days left, and only an $18 investment to support the company trying to make the Masters Of Magic sucessor! Worth the investment I think, just like I beleived (and still do) that Elemental was worth the investment! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/304725524/worlds-of-magic-a-new-classic-4x-fantasy-game/posts
I agree the video does nto inspire TONS of confidence, but if you dig deeper and look at the screenshots and see who they have brought on board (from the original MoM and MoO) and then see that the company has produced several games already, well, I think its worth a few bucks to bet on them. http://wastelands-interactive.com/
Just stumbled upon this. I like Fallen Enchantress a lot, but I would not say it is the true spiritual successor to MoM. Perhaps this one will be? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/304725524/worlds-of-magic-a-new-classic-4x-fantasy-game
Thanks for pointing out this population cost for pioneers changet. I will not be updating to 1.2 if this is the case for exactly the reasons described in the OP. Maybe someone could make a mod that rolls this back to the original no population cost for Pioneers? Please?
I researched Advanced Agriculture (or whatever its called exactly) and when research was complete it did not register that I had researched it. I selected it again, but game ended before it finished.
Yes. Large map, 5 AI opponents, all victory options. Won by casting spell. Along the way had numerous crashes to desktop, but not so many that I got fed up.
No the problem here is that placing lairs under ZoC causes monsters to attack random things period. They should attack only the outpost or city that aggroed them, and anything that gets in their way. Then they should return to their lair. Problem solved. The whole idea of stupid actions across the map by a AI you never met getting your capital destroyed is stupid. The problem has always been those drakes and ogres that get randomly unleashed
+1 OP I like all the weak, medium and strong monsters around to keep me interested & honest, but those epic/deadly monsters need a setting that makes them stay put unless attacked, or perhaps stay put until a particular technology is reached, building (wonder) is built, or spell is cast. Played 3 different games over the weekend and each one was ruined at some point (one after MANY hours of enjoyable gaming) by some uber-mega-unbeatable monster thing that came out o
Yeah, this annoys me too as suddenly a huge juggernaut of a monster comes out of nowhere and destroys a city or three and then that's it, game over as there simply isn't any place else to even build a city!
Completely agree with OP. After 8 hours of playing a VERY enjoyable game, some HUGE monster thing came out of nowhere and destroyed 2 of my cities and my army. Not many options after that but a restart. I too like the proliferation of weak to medium and even strong monsters, but these huge marauding juggernauts really suck. Let them stay in their lairs and sleep until someone attacks them or some faction gains a particular technology or builds a particular wonder or something!

Remember we were just as excited about EWOM from "what we've read" that it was going to be the best game ever. Six months ago I said that EWOM was released six months too early... well it's been six months now and EWOM is still not solid. I don't know about you, but I'm going to be dragging my expectations in on the floor for FE.
Beacuse The
I just hope that this NEW game FE will be the spiritual successor to MoM that we were promised SOOOOO long ago and that lead me to purchase EWoM in the first place. I hope it does the Fantasy 4X game+tactical battles correctly the way EWoM did not.
My problem with this is most likely, EWOM will get some (X) features eventually that FE doesn't get, while FE will get some (X) features that EWOF doesn't get. Then I will most likely choose between which I like more and not play the other. But while the whole time I'm playing It I will be thinking, "Dang I wish FE had this feature like EWOM has, or Dang I wish EWOM had this feature like FE has". Since they both will be continued to be updated, ther
