Been a few months since I've played a game of Elemental. 1.3 seems as good of time as any to jump back in. Keep kicking ass Stardock!

I think I might be one of the very few that have had a lot of fun playing this game. The design is unique enough that it has held my interest. The problem I've had with it is the game crashing bugs, not the gameplay. I've had fun playing comp stomps with my friends, but we always have to find ways of keeping it from crashing. To me, once most the bugs are worked out then War of Magic will be a game I'll keep coming back to, as long as the o
I own GalCiv2 and all expansions but couldn't really get into it either. I'd play Elemental over it any day, despite all the issues. I am however hoping that someday there will be a GalCiv3 and it will be a worthy replacement for the horribly ancient Moo2 which I still play now and then.
As wary as I still am about the Gamestop deal *proceeds to beat the badly beat dead horse* I am very excited to hear this news, Brad. :) I like the Stardock games very much and would hate to see them soured to making games from our backlash about Gamestop. Keep it up guys, I'm looking forward to Fallen Enhantress (and Rebellion)
Another multiplayer problem is that it always fails to save the game now, where it'd sometimes save in 1.10.
The only speed change I've noticed is it seems to take longer for the AI to take their turns. Graphically it runs about the same as it used to, on both my i7/5970 and my e3300/GMA-X4500. I was however a bit disappointed that the game still sometimes doesn't advance to the next turn in multiplayer even though it says everyone has ended their turn.
Thanks Frog and SD! I'm excited to dig in to this new patch. [e digicons][/e]
Xia/aeligos, The strange thing about Elemental as a 4x game is that I have friends who normally weren't interested in playing 4x games playing this one. There is something different at the heart of Elemental, in a good way.
It has many flaws, bugs, shortcomings etc. But I find myself playing it for hours on end. I even slog through the even more buggy and incomplete multi-player with a a friend. I find it very fun, but I want more.
I miss those armor types too. The world felt more fleshed out with little details like those armor types. I know they were redundant but it added to the feel that this was another world. I completely agree with Xia on this.
Indeed, welcome Dave! I look forward to the talent you will bring to our beloved game, book, and universe. :D
I wish they were. I have friends I play with and we love to watch each others battles or even have fun battling each other. Please do add it, but obviously make it optional.
Frogboy, I'm only a couple chapters in, but I like your writing style and I agree with azzaron, the characters and story are interesting and engaging. I bought both editions of the book but I too am waiting to hear about the ebook code, as the paper book's code is for my wife.
Thanks Brad and team! I indeed have had quite a lot of fun and have gathered some more word of mouth interest from friends who have watched me play! It is a fun game.
I'd like to know the answer to this also. I bought both the paper and ebook versions. My wife will want to get a copy of Elemental when she sees me playing, and it would be cool to have a code for her already. (She's going to read the paper version while I read it on my Kindle)
Speaking of netbooks, will the game support the rather awkward resolution of 1024×600. It seems that a lot of games can't, or perhaps it is just the older games I try installing. The next beta looks, fun, I'm looking forward to the mod tools. I'm assuming the mod tools are bug free, it's the content integration we are to be looking for?
I too would like to play the awesomen
Yeah it complains about resolution. :(
I saw in an earlier post it was stated that Elemental will probably have support for the 1024x600 resolution. Is there a chance that could be added to the betas before release? I'd really like to test Elemental on my netbook.
Long-term spells could require some sort of "spell slot" for their upkeep, so they don't affect mana beyond the initial casting cost. This would cut instant effect spells out of any micromanaging, and make it so the player can tell how many long-term spells they can have active at a glance, without the need to do any math regarding mana regeneration. Max mana and slots could then represent two separate research/questing branches: Some players would e
I am guessing this is a bone for us to gnaw on since Beta 2B won't be out today. Nom nom nom nom Glad I too bought the collectors upgrade. :D
I've been wondering this myself. I really hope we will be to actually explore dungeons.
Having played a game of Elemental beta 2a multiplayer, I cannot find an obvious indicator that either of us have hit end turn. Also when one of us hits end turn it appears that it hits end turn for the other player automatically. (maybe why there isn't an end-turn indicator for the other player)
EVERYTHING in Elemental is overpowered. You start out with a shard in your area but maybe no food. Or maybe you have food but no metal in your area. Or maybe you have metal but no horses. Or maybe you have a shard and horses but you have no crystal. Or maybe you have a shard and crystal but no good NPCs. EVERY game of Elemental should be a roller coaster ride of imbalance. But Fun. Though, NOT until rel
I am really liking the rarity system I've seen/heard about so far. Having the basics as research options you can rely on while having more and more rare ones that you hope for (if you know about them) is really neat. I think it is a fantastic compromise of all our ideas we talked about months ago. Very happy with it. Some ideas for rare resources I'd like to see are: 1. Oil. Oil could be used for things like increasing the
Stardock, Since first playing Homeworld back in 1999, I have yet to find a game, movie, or book that has drawn me emotionally into the story as much as Homeworld. I am hoping that the campaign of Elemental is as emotionally engaging. I don't know what it will take to make that happen, but having Random House backing Stardock, maybe it is a possibility. Any thoughts that Stardock can share with us in this regard yet?
