I've gone through this thought process a few times, but I admit that I've not been very consistent in following through whenever I did make a decision. Often, just when I have decided to not buy any newly released games and wait until they hit the discount bin, an exciting title comes out that I just have to play. Even when I plan on buying only major titles in the genre, some never heard of game pops up that sounds so good that I simply must have it. But sometimes I do succeed, and t

Excellent post. As always, thanks for the candor and the planned time line for the remainder of the year as far as Elemental is concerned. And having done the sysop thing in FidoNet and MausNet, and later as a paid "wizop" at CompuServe, I entirely agree that it only takes a few permanently nasty people to spoil the whole community. Negativity catches on quickly, and even moderate posters get caught up, precisely as expected and intended by the trolls. Attention is a reward</s
Well, I preordered Civ5, and I'll probably give it a whirl, in spite of the Steam requirement (which I have a hard time supporting and I'm still pondering to cancel the order). I've played all previous Civs when they came out, so it's almost like a tradition to play the newest version as well, though I generally prefer fantasy settings over historical ones. But we don't really get many TBS games anymore, so I can't be too picky. ;) (I'm actually more looking forward to King's Bounty: Cr
This is probably unpopular, and maybe it's just me, but I feel it's time to move past this "blame" stage, because it does not matter . The situation is as it is, and there are two options here: 1) Stay here and keep on lamenting and dwelling, or 2) move on and contribute constructively.
Legends' downside was, at least for me, the partly tedious backtracking to restock on monsters.
I think the studio is currently working on an action RPG that will be announced closer to the end of the year, so another King's Bounty "main game" doesn't seem likely at least for a while. But with the development tools released, there should be plenty of user-created content to look forward too. :)
Yes, it is an expansion, not a sequel. There will be two versions of it: only the expansion (requires Armored Princess) and a stand-alone GOTY version that comes with Armored Princess included. There are new missions, the editor, and generally plenty of new content. The site that the original poster linked has more information. :) The expansion is fairly inexpensive (under 20 dollars/euros).

One of those things you learn when you are around for a while is that whining and complaining and nonstop criticizing doesn't yield positive results. People don't like tha
GamersGate and Steam both have it for pre-order (and a 15% discount at GG), so it seems likely that Impulse will also have it - seeing that they have the two previous games as well :)Might also want to ask over at the publisher's forum ; they respond quickly. I'm very much looking forward to it, too! :)
Has anyone here played Grotesque Tactics? If you did, what were your impressions? How well does the AI play? It looks like an interesting SRPG, but I haven't been able to find really insightful reviews so far. Might end up buying it anyway, but if the AI doesn't offer a fair challenge, I may skip it.
I don't see the value in kicking people who are already down. It doesn't add any value to these forums, it doesn't make anyone feel better, and it doesn't contribute to a positive atmosphere. Brad has already claimed responsibility and admitted to mistakes. Going on and on about it doesn't really change the past, but it may very well make things worse in the future.
The poll, however, offers more value and insight than mere speculation and assumption.

Though I understand the trouble of developers or publishers of niche games. The games need to be released early to recover some of the expenses of the development, and to create the funds for continued development. Risen is a lot like the Gothic games. Well, it really is Gothic 4 in all but the name. :)

Thanks for the patch and, as always, the late nights you guys put into working on improving the game. It's appreciated. :)

I have the manual for Dominions 3, and a serial key, but the CD got scratched by the cat, and Shrapnel has been most unhelpful when I tried to get a replacement a couple years ago. From what I gathered, this was mostly because I had purchased the game from a German retailer that they apparently didn't "like" (or had issues with, i.e. didn't provide Shrapnel with customer information). It didn't matter that I had the actual manual *and* the serial key and really only needed a download link. :)
Is telling people to use the "cloth map" (no graphics) really supposed to be a "solution"? Stardock might as well have added a text mode interface, as visually appealing as that "cloth map" is!
It's certainly a workaround that is sufficient for a little while until the issue has been addressed. The cloth map mode isn't that terrible, and not quite comparable to a text mode interface. :) (Hey, I still play text adventures!)

I really like these forums, too. The level of maturity strikes me as higher than average, there's plenty of good discussion going on, and I often spot posts that crack me up. :) I also like the technical aspects -- the board's accessible and usable, and it loads quickly. You're all appreciated, and you don't need patches!
