[quote who="Nesrie" reply="329" id="2788814"] But hey, i don't think you are actually trying to discuss anything at this point. You're still trying to pit one side against the other as if there are even sides to be taken. Civ V's misstep with MP and other perforance issues and Elemental's generally disasterous release aren't doing the genre any favors, and neither are the people who insist that at this point in time, they're on equal footing. In the future, who knows for sure, but now, t

It's funny how you mentioned multiplayer as being Elemental's serious problems... isn't that what everyone is complaining about Civ V? I think they are both "in the works"... Although to be completely honest, when I heard multiplayer from SD I laughed a bit on the inside (sorry SD, but you guys don't have the most spectacular record in this area), so I never expected much for it.

[quote who="Raven X" reply="186" id="2786693"] Indeed, I found that. It's labeled as a Value. I think it abstracts or multiplies some of the values though. If you look a little further down that same XML and find the Level 5 Castle, it doesn't even give a max population value. Instead it's like this: (Note: I'm taking out all of it but the population part since the rest isn't relevant here) ... You do have me curious though now why the XML shows one t

A much easier implementation of the concept would be to have tech library drain arcane research, and ancient temple drain tech research. This way, you don't have to add new resource or make new effect to achieve the pro/con system. It is also completely doable right now with a mod.

I don't mean to come off as sounding overly negative on Civ V, I never had the intention of bashing it, it was just weird how everyone was saying it was this super well designed game when I totally don't get that impression. There are certainly a lot of things that the game did well, I mean look at what they did with the Civilopedia, that whole google ease of usage is amazing (something I'd love to see in Elemental BTW). But let's face it, there are also serious issues, and saying that someho

All traits are inherited to children of the same gender. So if you're female, all your female children will have the same trait, they also get bonus abilities that don't show up (since they just copy their parent's history/trait). This also work for your spouse. If your spouse has a nice trait, the appropriate gender children also has it (one of the nicer things about the dynasty system). The only problem is some effects only work at the start of the game (warlord, naturalist, etc), so the ch

I've seen the 0 HP mob (usually something that I already killed, but for some reason didn't "die"). I've never been able to fight them again, so I can't confirm what happens afterward. I think the game remove them during turn processing. I think it's just some weird oddity with simultaneous turns. As for the random death thing, nope, never seen that.

Um, I'm not sure what you guys are talking about... Settlements always starts with 0 pop. Pioneers founding cities don't count as disbanding. What I was talking about is training a company of 12 peasants at my lv5 cities, then move them to the city I want and disband them. The 12 peasants would essentially "move in" to the new city. Not sure where the confusion lies.

About the baby champions (ones that have baby card pics), they are actually clones of children who have yet come of age, they always have your spouse's name. Once the actual children come of age, the baby card changes to reflect the new card that gets created. No idea what happens when you don't have a spouse (I usually have one by then) or the real children don't get to grow up (faction killed). Also about abilities, it seems all children has random abilities, but are

Yes, it is definitely possible. I do that sometimes when my capitol is already lv5 and I need an extra boost of population somewhere else.

The reason unit "merging" is not supported is very simple, a stack is simply a unit with an extra number. So a stack of peasant basically has the stat of a peasant and a number, say 12. All other stats are derived and never kept. If you support "merging" you have to keep track of the individual unit stats separately. So a stack of 12 units would compose of all the stats for 12 units, even if they were identical. This, in turn, leads to performance problems, since the game has to keep track of

Um... I'm pretty sure they are deserting TO said town. This is what happens when you disband a unit, the population that those unit used moves into your nearest town.

You can make water tile, it's called "flood" it's in the book of mastery, lv8 I think.

[quote who="Nesrie" reply="319" id="2788038"] You're not listening very well to Civ Fans, at least not the ones on this board. There is a WORLD of difference between Civ V and Elemental in terms of release quality. What that statement does not equate to is complete folish and no complaints for Civ V. There are plenty of issues Civ V seems to have, but that doesn't change the fact that the Elemental is still miles behind. I haven't purchased Civ V myself because MP has taken several

I love how all the Civ5 fans are saying how the game was released with clear design goals, polish and deep gameplay. I honest don't think you guys have actually played the game. It would certainly explain why you are still here, on the Elemental forums, after Civ V has been released. What, didn't you guys get the memo? It's been out for weeks. Before I go further on that, let me describe my last Civ V game in a bit more detail... ... From my previ

It helps that WC3 movies were good enough to make those moments feel appropriately epic. If I understand it correctly, the idea behind high quality (and budget) movies is that they can be used in trailers and other promotional material to generate hype and partially recovers themselves (although how effective is subjective). This is, of course, IF you can pull it off and make really nice movies. Let's face it, even if SD tries to put in some effort for movies in Elemental, it wouldn't be m

No no, that's too much like 1. It has to be different... hence... reverse! Oh, and I forgot to mention, but please don't balance 7, it's completely fine since it's my favorite number.

Empire and Kingdom cities has different reqs for lvl 4 and 5. Both of you are correct. Empire lvl 4 = 500, lvl5 = 1000 Kingdom lvl4 = 400, lvl5 = 1250

Balance! ... and the first thing we have to start with is, of course, numbers! I mean, come on, everyone knows that 3 is OP. It's THREE times the value of 1. 3 should be the equivalent of 1, but different. There's a lot of things we can do to make this happen, but here's my suggestion: 1. Take a sledge hammer and smash 3 into pieces. 2. Gather the pieces and melt it down for materials. ~1. Create a custom mold that is the rev

As of right now, both are useless. Road Warrior has its bonus commented out, and Civilized (I think?) doesn't work because there is no cost anymore (there use to be).

Strength champion makes good archers, it's actually an extremely cheap tactic against a non-range enemy. Go into battle, shoot, then once the enemy gets near, run away. Repeat battle until all enemy is dead. It only because you haven't needed to do this yet that they seem somewhat useless.
