I haven't posted for the longest time, but just wanted to throw my 2/100,000 of a cent in. I love Star Control I and II, and most like everyone else here, those games are part of their childhood. As much respect I have for Paul and Fred for making the games, I find it a dick move for them to be doing this NOW . Fans have been screaming for a proper sequel for the

I haven't posted for SO FREAK'IN LONG. But decided to see how this project was doing. Been very busy with life and haven't had time to chime in. I agree with taking time and making sure this game is done correctly. This is a franchise that needs to be healthy again. Don't screw this up. =) I am anxiously awaiting tools to create our own universe (scripting tools) and other modding tools.
There's so many factors in that question.... Here's a few questions I'll answer back to illustrate that point. 1. How many times will I be just twiddling my thumbs in traveling from one end of the star map to the other just to accomplish a mission? If you have jump points that allow short-cuts, then will those be too easy to use, or will there be a certain amount of risk in using them? (Maybe have a chance to damage your ship each time you use
Playing Genesis Starflight on my phone with bluetooth game controller. Awesome!
I need to see more art and designs of the game to make a concrete opinion. They can mix in more realistic and threatening-looking aliens while keeping the fun, cartoonish characters. That was part of the fun of Star Control II, some of the weird races were really really fun. Zok Fit Pik comes to mind. Then the Ur-Quan and the Mycon, and a few others, just freaked me out when interacting with them. Again, this isn't going to be Star Control II HD 2.0. I just hop
Tsk tsk tsk...you are such a tease Vaelzad! Sounds very good.
^ I'm strongly against multiple ships per race for various reasons. Two of the main being: The striking ships difference makes races unique and distinctive. If you're gonna make multiple ships per race - it'll turn into a massive blob of unoriginal mediocrity. Labor and time involved in creation and balancing multiple ships isn't worth it gameplay-wise.
I agree. N
Aquatic....hmm...submersible landers??? Or just floating ones?
I'm still not liking the cartoony design. I understand if in the lander game you can fly down onto the planet, and the planet can't be to scale (~200 million square miles for Earth) so you need a smaller area to scout. I'm just not sure about the art design. I guess I'll have to see it in action to make a better critique of it.
^ That is correct. I'd rather make notes on paper if I wanna make notes. If anything, it'd be cool for the game to keep a searchable Personal Diary type of events log. Ex.: Dec 2 2015. Left Sol in Gamma Pegasus direction. Had to slow down to fight off a pack of annoying Tywom. Need to visit their homeplanet (coord.: 4234,6351) to sign cease fire. Dec 7 2015. Somebody
Entering a solar system, with haunting background music, made the hairs on back of my neck stand up. Hearing the music while flying through hyperspace was like feeling the wind on my face while sailing. Feeling the pounding of the bass while talking to the Ur-Quan made me feel their hostility. All of these experiences were because of the music. It gives a superb feeling of the atmosphere and vibe of your current situation. I'l
Funny thing is, automated quest markers have become such an integral part of some exploration focused games that the NPCs sometimes don't even bother giving directions anymore. Most recently this happened to me in Fallout 4. It goes more or less like this: NPC tells you to retrieve an item from the Juffo-Wup military base. Gee, is the base to the n

No, but I don't like hand-holding during a game. Mass Effect's "QUEST" list made the game MUCH less challenging IMO. Go to POINT A, talk to PERSON 405, SHOOT, RINSE and REPEAT. BLAH!!! Automation can be good and bad. It depends upon to the extent on which its implemented. Mass effect, you didn't have to THINK...you just pointed yourself, like your gun, to the next step. There really wasn't much actual exploration of the universe, it was just following
I wonder if there will be something like a quest compass in the new SC. If so, I hope we'll be able to turn it on or off, based on preference. It would spoil the feeling of blind exploration for me. That said, I would LOVE a system enabling me to leave little custom notes and markers in the game itself. Also, in SC2 I sometimes lost track of which planets I had explored and harvested before, especially in large solar syst
For me, its difficult to start or get involved with threads and have much of a voice/opinion until I see more of what Stardock has planned. As soon as I see what Stardock's team has come up with that they think is a winning formula, then we'll all have a much more defined opinion of constructive criticism on how to shape the development.

A proximity weapon I'd like to see is one where it blinds your opponent for a 10 seconds, where the whole screen blacks out except a small immediate area around the ship. The enemy would be basically flying blind, and could crash into a planet, asteroid, or your missile/etc.
I like the idea of MAJOR upgrades. One thing I didn't like too much about Galactic Civilization II is that you had lasers, then lasers II, III, IV, V, VI, VII....I mean, come on. I want lasers, then HELLBORE canon, then SUPER GRAVITY MELT-YOUR-FACE Quantum Gun, then WTF-did-I-just-ruin-space-time-by-firing-this-thing-Blaster.
