+1 with prior comment: finishing should feel like an achievement but also leave you hungry for more
+2 on that. There should be unanswered questions, odd behaviors never explained, and other parts of the new universe that make you WANT more story. Star Control II left me wanting more when I finished the game. It was an epic WIN, but I fell in love with the universe and wanted to get lost again and aga
I think logs and ruins are a great idea, anything that continues stkry or backstory. Especially with precursor artifacts, there's a treasure trove of possibility. I'll never forget that initial moment of intrigue in SC2 for discovering that signal on Pluto at the beginning, it was like an instant hook.
Agreed. Finding the outpost was the start of intrigue of landing on planets after that. &n

I would have to say I'm not a fan of the cartoony look of the planets. I appreciate the level of creativity, but I'd like the game to feel I'm exploring a more believable universe. Otherwise, to me, it would be like i'm exploring cartoon land at Disney. Without seeing more, I'd have to say I like the looks of the planets in the 2nd 4x4 photo. Even though they LOOK similar, i'm sure artists could come up with different looking ones for baren, frozen, rocky,

Hmm...not sure I like the idea of no wrap-around and it being just an out-of-bounds area, but then again, I haven't played it. Is there a possibility of a ship being "cornered" in the out of bounds area? If so, will that affect game play negatively? Just food for thought (from someone who hasn't seen anything yet!)

I'd like to see an ability for a "warp point mine" that a ship could warp to instantly, say to either get behind an enemy or escape. Maybe have it slowly charge, limited use, or have it use "people" health. Perhaps another would be a hologram decoy ship, where you could project a few decoy ships and confuse the enemy on which ship is actually yours.

Just one? Well, that'll cut the thread posts down for sure! Hmm...just one. Just one.... It would have to be when I figured out that the Rainbow Worlds made an arrow to the galactic core. My original poster map was marked up with tape and post-it notes, and had stickers for the Rainbow World locations. After so much searching, and a few game restarts, I found the last few ones. When I discovered them, it all came together on the included star map. A FREAK&

I sent my survey. I'm excited to see this project going forward! I'm very interested in the Multiverse construction tools....I'm sure there are a lot of very creative people out there that could do something with the original canon.
^ To be honest, If you remove all the text from that StarDrive video and show it to me, I'd think WOW, is it the next Star Control dialog screens?? And if you show me the talk test vid. I'll think - this looks like some programming student's project. I don't understand why dialog screens need to be 3D and why lip sync is important?.... I really, really wish the new SC won't be like: User: "Guys, we wan
I like the StarDrive alien graphics style alot more than 3D graphics from talk test video...
Ditto. 3D is just...meh. I love the original artwork, and the redone artwork of the HD version. 2D animation lends itself more to the "feel" of Star Control. But perhaps the 3D could be done in a 2D-style with filters. I'd have to see it to give an opinion.
Quoting cuorebrave, reply 7 I think this idea has potential - expanding the number of ways you could find to make upgrades to your ship... basically in SCII, the only way to get a new weapon or ship upgrade that could be produced , was to buy it from the Melnorme.

There could always be the option of having the other ships add "bonuses" to the fight. Have a full complement of ships? 20% bonus in damage to the enemy if its just 12 vs 1. If its 12 vs 12, no bonus. 1 vs 12, well, the enemy gets the bonus. Just a thought.

I should have done this a while ago.... I played Star Control 1 on the Sega Genesis. It was by shear dumb luck that I bought the game when it first came out. I was bored with my current games, went to the store, and saw the clerk put it up on the wall behind the counter. I asked what the game was, he said "Something like Asteroids...probably stupid". I bought it anyways after looking at the back. I was hooked after my first game. When I h

I agree completely. Some side quests to improve your load out can be fun, but tiresome. To affect the gameplay, and perhaps the difficulty (not hassle-factor.....difficulty) of the game with your choices would be preferable. The story and characters need to have depth, beyond a superficial script. I hope the writers are well-equipped and talented enough to produce an engaging, yet changeable and interactive story. EDIT: Also,

Moving onto something constructive and out of the mire... The original Star Control II had a fixed amount of time that you had to get things done. You could lose the game easily enough just by pissing away time visiting planets and traveling, though events helped drive you in the right direction. I really enjoyed that sense of urgency, whether it be trying to get the Pkunk to turn around and not visit the Yehat, or having a growing threat such as the Probes (thoug
