I'm really excited about the modding tools, if they are quite extensive. There are so many talented people out there, many with their own story in mind about the Star Control universe. That's about as good as its going to get without Paul and Fred doing their own game. Hell, there's probably some really fantastic stories out there better than the original (GASP). I'd love to know a lot more about whats being planned with those tools. Foun

[quote who="Meleemike" reply="94" id="3593075"] please tell me, this new Star Control game will be on a gaming platform like ps4 or Xbox1 or something other than just PC. SC3 didn't fail because Paul and Fred didn't make it like the first 2. It failed because PC games are god awful compared to a gaming system. I would rather this new SC be made for the original 3do with old graphics, than PC with the best graphics money ca

Stardock is stuck with a dilemma, how do you make a video game that can be apart of the Star Control franchise. BUT you cant use any of the already established lo

Also, the tools talked about might allow the community to come together and pro

I'm hoping its a great game and that the "super fans" like you and me will be able to enjoy it, and perhaps even help shape the new universe. I almost look at this as a community project with the modding tools involved.

Oktoberstorm, you could always just hide the "Star" in Star Control and call the game CONTROL. All kidding aside, I was a little upset that the original story line and creators weren't involved with this project. I mean, take a look at Star Control 3. However, after thinking through this I finally conceded that its time for a new Star Control regardless of the faults. I for one, don't care if its called Star Control, or "StarDuster 9 from Planet X, th

That's awesome to hear Frogboy. I just watched the GDC 2015 Postmortem of Star Control where Paul and Fred were interviewed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Napx0MjivCM That really shows light into how they both started the idea for Star Control and some of the very interesting insights and influences during its development. There were a lot of things that there were very influential, like the game Starflight

Just to give a little bit of a background, I would consider myself a "super fan" of Star Control II. I have played through that game countless of times. I usually play through once a year. I love it that much. Saying that, here's my two cents: Challenge #1: IS Star Control Star Control without the Spathi? No...its not Star Control...at least, not Star Control CLASSIC. I'm not too worried about this being th

Yeah, I upgraded...but still not listed. Oh well...i'll take a look later on today. Glad they finally came out with a 2.0. EDIT: and yes, I do have the Show Pre-release Versions options checked.

I LOVED the alien space crystal in MOO. If it appeared early in the game, it could wipe out 1/2 of your colonies. It was awesome to drop everything you were trying to do, and manufacturer/research enough ships to take the crystal out. I have yet to see anything like this in GalCiv II. The only thing is if a diplomat is murdered, and then a billion ships appear. But they're worthless little fighters that are easily fended off. This might add some flavor if you're playing a large m

Bump Ok, all of my old custom designs can NOT be upgraded and keep the design intact. It just leaves the plain hull after clicking "UPGRADE". However, if I make a new design, and upgrade that design, it keeps the design. What the!? Help! I have a lot of cool designs I want to keep! -Shaun

Ok...the option for "REMOVE FUNCTIONAL COMPONENTS..." is clicked off...and if I click it on and click "UPGRADE" the ship design is entirely removed leaving the plain starting hull with the functional components randomly placed on it. What gives? All I want is it to remove the functional components but keep my designs intact. I have beta 1.2. thanks for all those who have replied, and yet will reply. <img src="http://images.stardock.com/gc2/T_DL/smiles/Smile.gi

I like the way that you can only build the latest version of a building. As well as offering an incentive for keeping planets largely intact when invading, it also means older established planets with a built up infrastructure become increasingly essential as the game progresses. amen. Tidalwave is a very COSTLY way of taking a planet and e

Why not have the class 0 planets only habitable to minor races? I swear they're there for no good. 1-3 planets, and they're always complaining about my super-duper planet-sized battleship hovering over them. Say their planets are class A0...not habitable by other races, but they can make good use of them. That way they're able to expand, but no one can "take over" the planet, only outright destroy it. Its they're own atmosphe

You know what i would love? Defensive anti-invasion modules for a starbase! Have the starbase able to repel invasions for surrounding planets, but limit that starbase to a few upgrades. That would have the need for an enemy to take out the starbase BEFORE able to capture the planet. Very hard if the starbase is maxed out, so limit the number of additional modules (module "size" points?) or lessen its ability to defend itself. (eg, defens
