Hmmm... I would think they would want it out before black Friday. If people know a new OS is coming out just after x-mas it will likely kill sales for PCs again. Did they not learn the lesson last time?
I'm not sure about Gears of War, but with Grand Theft Auto IV it explicitly states in the EULA that the license is valid until such time that the owner (publisher) decides it is no longer valid. So any time they decide that you do no longer own the licence it is gone. It may seem odd, but that is what you sign up for/pay for, you 'rent for and undefined period'.
I think the first-sale doctrine precludes such blatant assfu
No doubt. I'll likely hang with Vista64 if they dont remove the DRM crap to be honest. Vista has that same DRM so does it really matter?
I'm not talking about the DRM for Vista activation, which does suck, but the media DRM layer M$ built into Vista for third party hardware and software.
That doesn't sound plausible, since anti-cheat systems should prevent people logging in on-line, not prevent startup of a game. That said, both anti-cheat & DRM require trusted executables, so some of the technology is shared.
I was thinking the same thing but I'm not a programmer so my consideration is meaningless.

@Pigeon - it appears you are correct. Sadly these early AM readings sometimes dont fully process it seems.

It appears that the issue was some anticheat system cert and not DRM according to some posts regarding Epic's comments.

I thought we had this chat some time ago and were waiting for SD input. Anyway, I'm all for a custom heraldry system to be sure.

I would wait a while to get it. CA has never been very responsive with the patch action or even correcting blatant errors within the game mechanics even when modders send them documented errors and the changed files correcting the mistakes to the tune of hundreds. Oddly enough, it is lighting fast with the DRM and IP protection action however. Things that make you go hmmmmm....

I hate consoles and will never support them. Restrictive DRM is pure evil. As far as I'm concerned there is no reasonable argument which can be made to change that simple truth. BTW: Since we are on the topic... Let me introduce you to the very meaning of EPIC fail. Recently GoW produced by [wait for it] [wait] Epic Games - expired on the PC! I understand that the window itself needs to be square/rectangular, but why can't the frame around the window be something like this:WB supports that. But how would it be usable?
I'd also be in favor of releasing stand alone components, similar to Spore: *Creature builder *Hero builder *Spell builder *Building...builder *Race customizer etc. Even just starting with these individual ideas would seem pretty helpful, as they'd be sub-screens of the main game and could be more easily individualized.
I have to concur. I'm all for the gimped painful mechanical action with a Zen approach. I think it is best for testing the core elements and getting people to focus on them and not the bling.

I have to agree with Annatar yet again. [e digicons] Hell as long as consoles are a big market factor then B&M secondhand shops will rake in the cash. It is a good thing I'm a PC only guy.

It should happen in a few months methinks. Stuff like this has to be worked out. Otherwise gamers will get highly irked and not want to buy titles until an "ultimate pack" is offered.
