Expand quickly with pioneers, and make sure to build basic troops to enhance your score and to use as meat shields in combat. A good basic unit is the club militia the game starts with. After you research spears, use spearmen. Don't pair up your sovereign and champions in the same army, they get their exp divided between them, and level up slower. If you start really close to another enemy in the early game, build a quick army and rush them with all c

The only good reason to use a mace is that it doesn't require metal or crystal. Or if you are Gilden and have the one handed sledge that does 28 damage. That's a lot of damage one-handed.

They don't ever seem to miss. I might be way off, and I don't know for sure, but they don't seem to miss. Now, to be fair, the last group I created were from a well upgraded fortress and a faction with lucky, so they had a starting accuracy of 120ish I think...so I can't tell if it's because they would never miss anyways, or if mine are just so skilled.

There are a tone of games that I absolutely love that got a 7 for reviews. I don't find single reviews all that meangingful, but I do pay attention to things like Metacritic, as a truly broken or awful game will not get a high score, and a game that has some merit will not get a low one, things tend to even out with a lot of reviews. I see a 7/10 as a perfectly good score. If a game in a genre I like is getting a ratings of 7, I will look more into it and decid
Only getting resources from the single tile you settle on is counter intuitive.
It's not actually what is going on, the score the tile is telling you is the sum of all the adjoining tiles. So when you see a tile that says 4/3/2, it is adding up all the tiles around it to get that number.

I think anyone can get swordsman. I wish the others were more widely available. I would like my spear using warrior/defender to get some pierce love.

I really don't want "taunting" of any kind. It just doesn't make any sense whatsoever. I can believe a world has dragons and magic, but to believe an intelligent opponent would constantly attack the enemy he is least capable of hurting and in return the least dangerous, boggles my mind.

I'll admit when I am wrong, I learn new stuff about the game all the time. I admit when I am wrong all the time, I don't claim to be all knowing, and I don't get defensive when someone does point out something I have been wrong about.
Quoting Sentinemodo, reply 20Maybe he put outposts, not settling the area? Outposts do not have defenders.... Did I say outposts?
There is no reason to be defensive, yes some of our questioning might sound a bit condescending but that is because you are obstinately defending that you don't have a part of the game that everyone else has. We are trying to figure it out.
Maybe he put outposts, not settling the area? Outposts do not have defenders....
I would hope he knows the difference, and even then he should recognise that his first city has defenders. It crossed my mind though, but it's really hard to believe he would mistake an outpost for a city.

I want sea travel. I would like dynasties. I am glad the snaking is gone, and I prefer injuries to permadeath, as it hurts the ai too much.

You must have some kind of bug or something. I can't imagine you not noticing cities having defenders if you have played more than a few hours. It seems impossible to not have noticed, so it must be some kind of rare bug.

Yea, axes. They are weapons I use the absolute least. I even use those monk staves more than those. The two handed axe only has an attack of 15 with backswing. A spear has 11 at the same level, and has armor piercing and no counter attacks. A broad sword has bonus to initiative, 12 attack, and counterattack. A mace is slow as shit, but has 16 damage, and requires no resources and is one handed.
Ah, kk. Hmm, but what about the Spiders you can make with Wraith's spider trait? Shouldn't that trait allow you to buy spider mounts?
That's not a bad idea.

Govs are good, but I never choose that trait. Maybe on a sion, (never had one survive long enough) or a henchmen. But probably not even then. And the reason is as everyone points out, they can't gain experience governing. Warriors gain experience killing shit, as a warrior is suppose to do, but a governor can't gain experience governing. So, you are stuck with deciding when you should retire the gov character.
