Snaking is usefull, but that's not the point. The point is that it's usefull in a very little meaningfull strategical way gameplay wise. It has little or I'd rather say nothing to do with strategical planning that make sense in a strategical gameplay way. To put it another way: It has no opportunity costs attached to it, it's just cheesy. Unestethical too by the way. As you say i
Since snaking to forests to build a logging camp or rivers for a dock is no longer allowed, the only purpose of snaking at all anymore is to put nearby resources in range of your city, and that's kinda weak tea considering your borders will expand anyway, so makes sense to give up on snaking altogether.
I disagree. I have always found the snaking cities useful for the purpose of tactically blocking

FAO frogboy. Off topic but..Out of curiosity have you considered doing an FE style perspective game set in your sci fi Gal Civ universe? Something more character, colonisation.. oriented? would be kind of cool.

To begin, not a modder, so any advice please make it as simple and specific as possible, it would be appreciated. So I make a new Faction, determine its bonuses, its look etc.. but in game it they all use the god awful random settlement names unlike the premade Factions which use predetermined list of settlement names specific to each faction. So my question is, how do I with Custom factions have them also draw from thier own individual pres
1. How OFTEN do you want to see new DLC? (Monthly, Quarterly, Every couple months, etc.)
Pretty much depends what is in them, but providing it is something that expands, improves or adds to the gameplay in some appealing or interesting way then frankly I'll buy them as often as you release them.. so every month to two month would be ideal. So far I like it no major gripes. Though I still find Yithril overwhelmingly powerful as a faction thier military progression seems to outspeed and out equip anyone elses constantly making any fight with them beyond the earliest turns an act of futility. Love the improvement to outposts definite improvement. If I had to have an "issue" it would be the removal of the ability to place city upgrades where you want. I get the reason was to improve performance and cut

I tend to play on normal difficulty with an Epic progression so a longer much slower game in general. Stability is now something I am very happy with the original games was fun but unstable btu the current incarnation has not crashed once which makes me very happy indeed. With regard to AI my biggest concerns are probably two fold 1. Land Grab.. all the opponents don't seem to focus massively on logical progression and develop of resources and

Congrats to the winner, Wasn't what I voted for however, didn't strike me as being particularly heroic to pay/hire bandits specifically indeed it seems quite mercernary to employ criminals. but a vote is a vote and he obviously did get a lot of votes, so congrats.
Thinking it has something to do with pre-release updates, or the patch that was today. Check those settings and see if it leads to anything. I wonder if it's possible for Impulse to have a function to solve problems like this more easily in the future.
Wondered if it may be a placeholder for the imminent patch maybe? Either way as i say now the g

Starting in Windows Vista, developers are supposed to stuff things in there to be "certified" but as a "power user" I hate having stuff hidden away from the user. Once you follow the link, save the file and double-click it to apply it. Then launch Impulse and login with your account (same account as the forums) and run Elemental.
I think what Cari is trying to say here, is that no matter where you installed the game, you WILL have that directory on the C drive. It's a hidden windows directory, it doesnt change locations. I have Elemental installed on a different drive as well, but I still have that directory on my C drive.
It doesn't make a difference what drive Elemental is installed on. I'm asking you to look in you program data folder, which is a system folder on the same directory as windows is installed. If you can't see it on that drive, it's because it's hidden. Searches also exclude system and hidden folders by default. Also, once you are in the proper directory, check to make sure that the folder is not read only. It's not
Stupid question, but when you say "The shortcut didn't create any file by the name you indicated?" you're saying that after you ran the program and crashed out, there were no files, correct? Not that you created the shortcut and went strait to looking. I'm not saying you're ignorant by any means. But I've worked with people that would have not actually run the program. Whether it's through ignorance or just a brain fart, it happens. Also, CariElf,
Ummm, firstly what people are trying to get at here is that the connection problem only exists in beta patches. Once we move out of beta it will no longer exist. Secondly the workaround just shuts off the need to connect in betas, if you can't connect it is still probably a firewall or internet problem. Can you connect to impulse normally using Elemental? Secondly, OOM issues are indeed a problem and SD recognizes this. They have s
Its not a bug. Its fully intentional that elemental needs to be able to connect to Stardock in order to run the beta patches. If you have issues with this stick to the release patches. Most likely this is user error of some type.. your firewall blocking elemental etc. Once the changes are finalized.. they will release 1.2 which being a full release patch will not require you to connect. Come on...
