Perhaps SD should change the error message to read something like: "Wow this is embarassing. I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but you must be a friggin moron. Why don't you first try connecting to the internet with the latest Impulse and then pop off?"
hur hur.. except my computer is ALWAYS connected to the internet, and my Impulse is up to date.. but thanks for sharing
So here we are TWO patches on from the one which BROKE my game and causes it to continually give me the "failed to Download Data" file error and then CTD's when trying to launch the game and still we have NO FIX for this? only a temporary workaround. Seriously? Is noone at Stardock even looking into this issue? I know im not the only one who has the problem as I've seen the posts, not to mention another post

Hoping they fix this. Basically since updating to the 1.19c beta patch the game won't even launch. All it gives me is a pop up saying "Failed to Download Data file" please ensure you are connected to the internet, logged in to impulse and that the game isn't blocked by any anti virus or firewall etc.. the game just closes to desktop on launch after showing me the title screen and that popup message noted above it doesnt get the the usual menus etc... <p
Not only did it NOT solve the memory Issue (in truth have no idea..see below) but since updating to the 1.19c eta patch the game won't even run. I only play on the biggest map size available, I like LONG games.
IF it works and we no longer get the OOM issue then I shall plant a big wet sloppy internet man kiss on the Frog :) because this issue has been the chief joykiller and main gripe for me to date with this game.
It doesn't unfortunately. It's going to be more complicated to fix because it's not a memory leak but a memory load. The problem with the AI getting better is that it's using more "stuff". The memory thing is our #1 priority for v1.2.
Something to look forward to with regard to 1.2 then, pleased to see its finally being addressed! Keep up the great work.
Most people remember things by either using their brains or writing it down. It doesn't change the fact that it's not necessarily a bug. The interface doesn't have a responsibility to include all information you'd prefer.
If it is listing information that is not accurate then yes it is a bug. Citing an example that in ancient rome they used to do it that way as you did originally doesnt justify it iether, its

Neither does Desecrate land for that matter as the land in your influence gets desecrated anyhow (with no apparent point or benefit in itself beyond theme) but at least as I say thematically Desecrate land fits with empires if nothing els
With regards to the first part, this isn't necessarily an error. In ancient Rome, for example, when someone married into a family, they were then considered to be a child of their spouse's parents. It depended on which family was more prominent, and what the arrangement was beforehand. It's a cultural thing, and is particularly common in royal houses.... like yours in the game.
For purposes of remembering which fac
I'm sure some of these may have been mentioned before, but in the hopes of having them addressed I am posting a list of the bugs/issues I have found with 1.1 to date. I will update it as/if I find/have more. Note not everything listed below is a bug, some of it is but some of it is just my opinion and suggestion for changes. BUGS 1. Contagion spell, states it will do 2pts of damage to all enemies per turn (for like 99999 turns) in actuality i
Couldn't see this mentioned anywhere else, apologies if it has been but since the 1.1 update my DLC from the Destinys Embers novel is no longer appearing, none of the characters etc.. are available anymore.
I got this issue for the first time in a couple of updates last night, but I do have a single unit on auto explore so ill take him off and see if it resolves it.
NeoWolfen.. its not sweeping under the carpet.. its there are already 3000 threads that say the same thing.. try joining them, we all love mega threads! Its not an issue for everyone.. i for one haven't had one crash, but i don't know if how good the computer is affects it though.
@Draconic123 So because you don't have an issue those of who do "still" should just move along? yeah
So are we going to get a stable build for 1.2? as the OOM crash issue after 200-300+ turns is still occuring. I posted about it earlier yet my post despite being totally true and very polite was removed anyway, which is interesting are we sweeping issues under the carpet now? or is mention of continuing issues suddenly verboten?
Love the improvements but sadly 2-300+ turns in the game still suffers from the OOM crashes, which is somewhat ironic as I could run Gal Civ 2 for thousands of turns without any issue so I know you guys are capable of a stable game.
These are just a sampling of the changes coming up in the new patch, although they are our (well my) biggest focus at the moment. I'm also planning on going through and trying to balance armor and weapon values among other things. Anyways, back to work! -Toby
Hey Toby The changes sound great.. but what abotu the technical fixes for 1.1? Will we finally have that out of memory er
Elemental: War of Magic v1.09 was released last week. It’s been a challenging month or so since the release of the game. At this stage, the technical issues that affected the game at release have been largely resolved.
Um not to be the Negative Joe.. but NO they haven't. MANY of us still suffer from the Out of Memory issue, which is a MASSIVELY significant technical issue. that isn't even touching on the fact the end of
Nice to see the bug where cities would randomly rename and color themselves to other factions has been fixed Scratch the ABove turned up again the moment I encountered a third faction BUT Game still not playable as the "Out of Memory" error STILL happens (Im running Vista 64bit).
GAH! I love this game but the out of memory bug after X amount of turns that causes it to crash in 64bit vista is STILL happening albeit after a longer period of turns now. Also that annoying bug whereby yours and an oppoents towns are renamed to another factions town name is still happening and is veyr annoying.
The way the minor faction hubs are implemented implies that they are just small mining camps, outposts, universities, or trading hubs. They aren't intended to grow. However, the main reason they don't grow is because there is nothing for them to grow into. If the mining camp were to expand it would lose it's special features or graphics. Each minor hub has a specific bonus to it including iron or crystal (that the city generates) in addition to a

Whether this is just because they foolishly attacked a monster stack before building their first city or not I don't know.
