Sure there's things it could do better, minor niggles and a tendency to go boing on occasion but it's still fun, and that's the important part. There's a solid diamond at the core, we just need to whack out a few pieces of coal to let it shine.
Make sure they're all in the inventory of the hero who initiated the quest, go back to the temple you got the quest from.
Caravans transporting different resources was in one of the beta's, but I don't think anyone liked it.

Elemental isn't trying to be a remake of MoM. It's got a few influences from various games. The dungeons and questing for example, along with the focus on NPC's, is heavily reminiscent of Sierra's Lords of Magic. Which by the by, if you're a MoM fan and haven't played it yet I suggest you do, and it'll probably tide you over till Elemental is fixed. Good Old Games have it in an XP/Vista compatible format for a few dollars.
You can often skip landmasses with a decent border push and the teleport spell, but yes, the random maps leave an awful lot to be desired.
There's several different problems when testing a game compared to an application. The two main ones being you'll see a much more diverse set of hardware in the field and of course testing can tell you whether the code is working, but it can't tell you whether what it's doing is any good. You might pick up shards aren't working properly, but you still don't know if the shard system as a whole works as a game mechanic. Although the customer expectation is a problem

Not to mention the Soldiers Cloak and Cloak of Thwarting are identical. Except of course one requires Elementium if equipped on a unit.
Actually, a lot of those suggestions in the beta are what they're talking about implementing as a fix now. So I wouldn't say it was their fault, I would however commend the lack of anyone saying "told you so".

I always find the inability of archers to counter attacked a fairly good reason to protect them myself.
Try a medium map with three AI factions. Found your first city next to the fertile plains and send your sovereign scouting for resources. Ideally you want at least one of each - goldmine, ancient library and ancient temple. As soon as you can, research diplomacy and grab the trade tech, then switch to warfare and aim for bows. Once you have the trade tech train a caravan in each city (they're free) and move them to other cities to start trading and building roads. Once you get the tech for Ce
One thing to think of when talking about lowering the numbers is that we also have combat speed to play with. It's fine making a Dragon and a guy with a lord hammer have the same attack; you just let the dragon attack three times for every one swing the lord hammer gets and it's still a nasty critter. To get around the heroic problem you can make defence fixed. If you've got six defence then the enemy needs to roll at least a seven to do damage. The only issue you get then is that if

The game is ready for release when the devs say it is. You mightn't like what they release, but they tend to have more clout in the situation on account of it being them doing the releasing. It's like the argument I often have with my boss; my shift is over when I say it's over. They may disagree, but unless they redefine my duties to include leaving the building early they'll find I'm always right in the matter.
