Hello everyone, it has been a long, long time since I've posted anything.. So anywho, I'll be brief.. Stardock, His Lordship Frog.. Any of you.. When shall you release news of a new fantasy game? Fallen Enchantress was probably my favorite of the ones so far.. But for years now I have awaited news of something.. new. A thing that has with it the lessons learned from the past, a fresh take on a genre that isn't very well represented (imo) in today's market. I remember sometime ago read

Exploring and leveling (discovering new magic and physical abilities from leveling, putting them to use in combat) / gearing up champions. Random events that change the state of the game. The story driven elements of the quests. The Undead faction.
If we go to other planets, have chips in our brains or any other thing we can think of, all hinges on the point that we don't annihilate each other first.
Quite true! Though.. If I were to be concerned about things that could annihilate us, other people being the cause of it would be the least of my worries. There are so many ways we could die horribly before achieving a superior class of civilization.. We got
Yes, it is true, more or less.. Quantum computing is on the rise finally. Though last I heard they weren't very powerful as of yet, nor practical for the most part. Though they seem to have been making quite the progress! Which is good news. Kurzweil said around 2028-2030 we will witness AI being born. It is exciting! I do hope I get to see it. . . and not in the Terminator-ish kinda way... or the animatrix. We'll still be going to Mars, Frogboy, if I could I'd shake on it
Phew.. What a topic! To the OP, ZombieRus5.. Climate change is a more accurate term than "global warming". The Earth has gone through, and will go through many, many, many more cycles of warming and cooling. The geological record shows this quite readily. Our beautiful blue world has been both a frozen wasteland all the way to the equator and a boiling hellish inferno! Did we as humans cause the current climate trends? Maybe. Are we the sole
Frogboy, I.. Don't really have much to add to your OP, other than.. Keep up the good work. Also if you are working on the Elemental RPG (Baulder's Gate style) and Galciv 3, or for the love of all things holy, a campaign for Sins (yeah, yeah I know, sandbox.. but I want to know so badly.. who are they running from!?), feel free to pm me some details, you'd have my full and undivi ded attention. Now onto a comment about single player exploits.. I think y
I do not think that dual wielding assassins are any more overused than any of the other clichés in the fantasy genre. As Lord Xia said, fireballs and dragons. I did ask about Nym sometime ago, but the folks at Stardock never replied to it.. I was hoping he'd make a return to FE or LH. Maybe he will yet! Now.. Drizzt is a badass, of that there is no doubt. However, I doubt he is the origin of the appearance or frequency of characters that dual wield, most
Isaac Newton, or Carl Sagan. I'd be very torn between those two.. One has a mind that is quite frankly beyond the scope of my measure, and the other a passionate presence that embodies what it means to have a love of knowledge. I'm afraid a thousand years would not be near enough to determine which I'd choose, if only one could be chosen. And now that I think about it, maybe the person who invented the antikythera mechanism.. That'd be an interesti
Frogboy, I agree with most of what you said. We should as a society shun the type that would do harm. I'd only disagree with you on the terminology that you've used, regardless of what is done, a human is still a human. It is this ability of ours, to dehumanize a person, or a group of people that can and often do lead to these sorts of events; as it is an important first step on the road to becoming a sociopath after all. So no, they're not fit for
A bug that I have noticed is that if you cancel production on a building/improvement that requires Crystal, you do not get the crystal returned to you, even if you had accidently clicked the wrong improvement and cancelled within the same turn. I'm not sure if other resources are thrown into a black hole like crystals are, but still worth looking into.
Battle formations do need some attention imo. Perhaps having the Commander line of abilities have a way to allow for customizing formations before battles begin. The real question I think then becomes, how will the AI utilize this feature? Perhaps giving AI commanders a bonus of initiative or something equivalent to make up for the advantage given to the player.
Elemental: Total War Yeah.. Has a nice ring to it. But anyway.. What you are suggesting sounds like a cool idea, though the min/max ranges need a bit of tweaking, I do not know if that is what they (Stardock) had in mind for combat. At least not yet. I imagine the next game within the Elemental series will have a bit more hardcore tactical combat. Hopefully things like cool sieges and real battlefield obstructions, flanking maneuvers etc, all the
Yeah, tributes can be cancelled at any time, which may actually be necessary of the AI isn't producing enough gildar to supply the tribute. At least you get a fee up front so it's not a complete waste.
Actually, no. I didn't set anything up. They offered it, then cancelled it instantly. I checked their season income, one of them was .7, the other was 2 or 3 per turn. Considering I w
Not even the bottom percentile of the population in a modern society would be better off that far into the past. Even someone living on the streets has a better quality of life and opportunities than those of a stereotypical peasant. The amount of squalor that we are aware of today is nothing compared to what our ancestors had to deal with. Even their clothing was doing its best to kill them. Clothing was expensive back then, so often families would use a han
This one I haven't had happen to me yet actually. At least not in the typical random sense, as in there being no reason behind it other than they just happen to be chaotic neutral.. [e digicons]>_>[/e] In my current game, which is set to epic pace, normal production, challenging AI, hard monsters, many random events, etc.. There was this one event called Blood Moon or something? It caused every faction to declare war on every other faction that they had met. Well, that was the firs
I very often use outposts, mostly High Tower and faster travel, then growth. I've found the Warden to be rather lackluster and only prevents the lowest level of creatures from roaming around. If I'm going to have a patrol out stomping the bigger things down, then I might as well use that same patrol to rid myself of the pests. DevildogFF, the answer to your question can be found upon launching LH. It tells you at the bottom of the beta loading screen the a
StarkeRealm touched on a good point about the swarming of armies attacking each other. I think if you have a mirrored swarm (ex: three units in a standard line formation vs three units of the same) the mirrors should cancel out their swarm bonus. It also adds another layer of tactical depth to have a line of units mean something both defensively and offensively. I'd also really like to see positional damage as well, such as flanking bonus. But I'd set
I completely agree, the current game is a superior breed to past incarnations. I love the special weapon attacks. Feels a lot more tactical now in combat.. and speaking of combat, the new arenas look amazing, especially the one during an invasion of a town. All I'd ask for now is a way to place priority on troop positioning in combat. It might be beyond the scope of what Stardock wants for this game, but perhaps in a later installment. One can only hope,

I find your post to be quite accurate in describing a fundamental flaw with the genre itself. Any game that has 4X elements will fall victim to human ingenuity. Even more so if you have a save/load feature. Unless of course you ironman it, but even that doesn't always provide adequate challenge. Once I've reached a stable situation within a given game, I usually just play on defense. As I already know that if I wanted, I could stroll into any territory and destroy them at my leisure.
Agreed on your analysis. What I'd like to see is the Bandit Lord trait be something closer to the rebel trait in SOASE. Occasionally spawn bandits (AI-controlled) in enemy territory to attack trade, small towns, etc. I also think that Diplomat & Noble should be combined into one trait. It'd be kinda meaty, but overall would become a great choice. Then we have my personal favorite that ne
From what I have seen about the weapons with the % bonus damage, it does indeed stack, but only for the battle in which it is being used. Each time I hit a target with the sword of wrath, the next hit was always harder. The best way to determine if the damage is going up, is look at your damage stat, then attack a target, then check your damage stat again. It should have gone up by an appropriate amount. Then after the battle is completed, the damage is reduced back to its normal values
I would rather Wraiths got a good ability that was stronger then their weakness, like true health drain or something.
If you think this game is finished, you've not played it very much.
I more than think the game is "finished", as I'm pretty sure it said version 1.0 not long ago. So long as you have patching, games are in theory never "completed", but I think it is fairly clear what was being stated. The game is Gold, not pre-alpha, or even beta. Gold. Done. And you'd have to define "very much". In Elemental in total, I have around

The majority or minority is irrelevant. We'd get what we pay for, and if there are tho
