I like the intention but I get concerned that a real-time discussion doesn't allow everyone who wants to participate to do so and than only a small contingent of die-hard supporters of Stardock/Elemental will be heavily influencing the direction of the game. I'd rather like to see a more public version of a bug/feature implementation list, with related threads, almost like a forum but with each thread about a specific feature/bug/request, etc. I dunno just a thought, I just don't like the rea

I agree with this, it's a small thing but it's constantly showing up and annoys me each time. I love the idea of creating pseudo-random names from a list or index of parts of a name, just like efarias explained above.
Thanks. Cool everything sounds good except for the bit about moving the spell books into the tech tree. The problem I see with that unless the tech tree gets changed in some way, is that given enough time, you can have all the spell books and all the spells in a single game. I think we need some limits here, I'm happy to see upkeep get brought into the fold as well as traditional mana points from the shards, but I think spell books should be picked at the outset and you shouldn't be able to b
I disagree with this as a matter of principle, this game is time consuming and not at all 'casual', I want to invest my time on something that won't be garbage in the next patch or two. I think it's very important the save files are retained throughout patching if at all possible. At the very least if it must be done, please warn us so we can finish our current games.
Great, where was this stated so I can be brought up to date?
One of my favorite things about Master of Magic was that it had spell and unit upkeep, I'm not sure if this game has unit upkeep but I'm pretty sure it doesn't have spell/magic upkeep(or I have not seen it yet). I'm able to cast spells, specifically persistant things (like enchantments, summons, etc) and they don't appear to drain my mana, once I cast it, I don't have to pay for it, I don't really care for this as it cheapens the game imo. I don't have much of a reason to expand my bo
I know Brad and team say that Elemental will 'never be done' but I think it has to be done, at some point, lets call it the 'vanilla' version, the version that is stable, bug free and that we can all agree is a solid game and we can get used to how the systems and game principles work etc. I bring this up because I get the sense that the community and the devs are all gung-ho about changing how the game works drastically over time. While this is cool, I'd like to keep that vanilla ver
I love the idea that you need to control a shard or 2 or 3 for more powerful and global spells, like flooding the world or creating very strong water spells, etc. It's better than the generic multiplier, divider or simplistic math equation. It should effect the game in profound ways and I love the idea. It also gives great value to these 'resources' and creates situations to fight over them, as should be happening.
I just want my money back, that's it. I don't care what the policy says (who reads those, honestly? That's the joke of the legal world and companies know it and screw the consumer if they wanna be dicks about something, doesn't make it right and just burns bridges to loyal paying customers), this game was released unfinished and is a debacle the CEO has admitted that much, given the circumstances, I don't think anyone should be refused a refund. It's not that I hate Eleme
Well I originally complained and vented my frustration in another thread, https://forums.elementalgame.com/394853 I wasn't happy with the game upon release, it was a broken mess and most definitely unfinished. Even a few patches after the fact, it's still a broken unfinished game. I was met with upset folks who suggested I return the product for a refund and I listened, I tried that, but as it turns out, I'm not allowed to return the product because I had pre-purchased it over 90 days ago, in
It's very strange. The tone of the OP and thread feels like we are potential consumers clamoring for a release and simply have no patience for delays rather than paying customers who purchased beta software at a premium. It's fine for Stardock to have no patience and hurry this game out the door well before any resonable person would agree it's ready, but the folks who believed the hype and purchased this pile of bugs are 'angry kids'
Some of you really don't understand what it's like in real life. You don't understand what it's like to work in the real world. You jump and attack any sort of authority because, "Hey, this is the internet and I have free speech!". Unfortunately, this is just showing your poor character and lack of experience. If you REALLY want Stardock to feel your hurt then return the product and don't buy another one, that'll hurt them in the pocketbook which hurts more then posting an angry rant a
I tried to get a refund for a pre-order of the game I made over a year ago but I was denied with: "Refund requests on all credit/debit card orders must be received within 90 days of the transaction. No partial or full refunds will be granted after this time." If anyone was in this similar situation and able to get a refund, what did you have to do to get it or am I simply out of luck? For context, this request for refund was made as a result of this thread I create
quoting post I really appreciate what you are saying here. This is some of the best consumer advice I've heard on these boards. You know, its one thing to ask for beta testers, who test a free version. Its quite another to sell a beta version, and have us continually provide feedback. I think this is why a couple of reviewers suggest staying away until its fixed and polished. They don't want us to waste our money.
The money issue is missing the biggest piece of all, it's not just the $50 or whatever, or the silly interest gained until Feb or whenever it could have been released, it's the frustration, I've paid money to be weighed down with frustration at both a poor purchase (that happens sometimes, it sucks but whatever) and then the added frustration of even coming to realize that yeah, this thing is broke and I haven't had any fun and yeah I guess it's time to go try and get a refund, that just blow
I especially don't enjoy explaining having an issue only to be met with someone expecting an error dump, had this company some foresight, they could easily implement something that just sent the error dumps back to their offices, but no, it's this manual process we all have to go out of our way to do One might call it convenience or a "best practice" standard ... or just "give me all your information", but I seriously
It is not my intention to get people riled up, but I fear folks might, but hear me out, I'm stating this for the benefit of all of this company's fans and supporters as well as the company it self. I also realize some of this will come off like bitching, but honestly, I did pay for at least that privilege. I have tried and tried to play and enjoy this game and I haven't been able to because of how broken of a game it is, there are dozens upon dozens of in your face, obvious game-break
Started up a new game and I'm starting to get apprehensive to just playing the game now. Do I go with tactical or auto-resolve combat, a major reason I was ever interested in this game was the tactical combat features of the game, Brad made mention that he knew people loved the tactical aspect of the game while I *think* he wasn't as much of a fan of that. Regardless, it was put in, in a similar fashion as MoM, but it is soooo broken as to be an exercise in frustration it seems to me. <p
To have called it a tutorial, would have required them to make another 'campaign', my guess is, that was just too much work considering the shoddy state of the 'mod tools'.
I've experienced this as well, it feels 'cheap' to me, maybe they can fade out or something, makes a big difference to the overall feel, I agree it's not a big deal at all but it is kinda annoying.
Good point, hadn't thought about that, it must do something quite close, but just obviously not with the ingenuity of a human so losses seemed to be a little more prone in auto-combat, but it's kinda like saying 'I'm not interested in handling the minutia of tactical combat, I'll take some loses to avoid it', it kinda made sense. Elemental is doing some kind of loose calculation based off a combined power number gathered from some of the unit attributes or something, needless to say,
You know those god-awful B horror movies or whatever people call them or the 'made for TV' movies on SyFy, things like Evil Dead? I've come to the conclusion Elemental (the current release version) is a game version of movies like that, this game has so many issues it's kind of like a very entertaining train wreck. Bear with me, I actually make mention of this in an endearing way, I AM entertained by the game but there is so much that is just so broken, missing, unbalanced, unexplained or jus
In the campaign I used tactical combat because that is just cool MoM style combat and is really fun to me, however when I came across the demons that burn every one of my units for 10hp in damage and I had no way to stop it or deflect it in anyway, and healing was incredibly expensive, I tried auto-resolving combat. To my surprise and dismay, it made all the difference, now I'd lose maybe 6hp to ONE guy and I wouldn't lose any units at all, so I ended up exploiting this massive imbalance for
Sure, people pay $50 so that they can go on forums and waste hours discussing mods. Right. No, that's not how it works, sorry.
Exactly how I feel, this thing is not even close to done or polished. It's fun, but it is a pretty embarrassing mess in so many areas, oh well, guess we'll just have to wait.
What an amazing post. Stardock should be paying you.
I feel as though a LOT of folks on these forums deserve something for their efforts, outstanding job, particularly on voicing and repeatedly voicing the issues of all the 'tiny' buttons with even tinier mouse hotpots on them, they drive all of us nuts I think. That and the missing tooltips and lack of general information about various game
