I'm not really interested in modding, I'd much rather have a simple options checkbox to turn this functionality off, so when I research new technology it's up to me to make use of the discovery and make new units, otherwise the unit editor just feels, very pointless I guess and I don't want it to be pointless cause it's actually pretty neat. Also deleting them from the XML requires I keep a backup of what I change and is a little too involved and like you stated, we have no clue how i

I thought "WOW, a bug that's actually going to temporarily make my game easier." Wrong. I ended up with -2218738716387683678128 gold.
Haha thanks, I was curious if I'd get negative gold, so I just removed his offer from the table just to be safe, glad I did that :)

I'm not sure what's going on, I struck up a conversation with another empire and he has like -4096 gold, I don't know why or what that even means. Anyhow, when I have him offer me say 50 gold or whatever, it flips out and goes to like -28430534 (about that large) and then I can give him 1 gold and he likes my offer because now his perceived worth of his stuff he's giving me is like a really big negative number and every time I take his offer off the table and replace it, it gets worse. Sooo..

Is there any way to turn off the game from proposing unit designs? I'm not a big fan of this as I like designing my units from scratch and I'd rather the game not auto-create unit designs. If this isn't a toggle feature, could it easily be made into one on the options screen? I understand many people probably like this feature but I'd rather just turn it off and do my own thing :) Thanks in advance!

Here is a summery of things to remember: -Stardock internal Dev teams best work is Gal Civ 2 which is amazing. -Frogboy/Brad Wardell is the CEO.. Name ANY OTHER game developer where the CEO frequently reads and posts on his games forums. This alone shows the commitment to this game. -Stardock is (in my opinion) the one of th
Is Stardock going to continue with its “human only” approach to Elemental throughout the expansions? (Yes, why does it seem like only a small modding community is addressing what probably a majority of the player base is interested in?) When I look at the current faction creator I just feel I don’t want to play this version of the game. Maybe not the intent.
If you've never experienced a buggy game before, you're either incredibly naive or incredibly lucky. Most, if not all, games come out with a patch at some point - its part of being a PC gamer. If you do not have a common reproducible issue, most likely you'll have to work with tech support to figure it out. Might take a bit of effort... or, you could whine some more.
I get your point

The Alt-Tab crash issue is the poster child of this. Am I the only one who finds it ridiculous that in 2010 that it should require hundreds of engineering hours to make a video game Alt-Esc successfully on every system? This is why games are migrating to consoles and other platforms. Mos

Trust me, people who say they 'speak for everyone' are usually just very passionate and not trying to suggest that you, specifically, Annatar, supports them, or that anyone else does, other than they've read enough evidence to

I don't doubt it CAN be done, a lot of things can be done and yes you do come off like a know it all, but I won't hold it against you, least you admit it ;) I'm also a software developer and I know what you mean by given enough time and gold, it can be done, I don't' dispute that at all, I just wonder about the logistics of it all. At the very least and I thought I saw this mentioned somewhere way in the past, that battles could 'scale' and that it would be an option we modify in an options w
Unfortunately it does have to be real time for a picture like that to work. TBS combat simply doesn't function with that many things happening at once. You'll have lots of guys standing around while one does something. It will *never* look that way. This is just the old "definition of epic" argument from months ago again. I don't see how just increasing the number of guys on screen makes it more "epic". If the squad is 1000 guys but it pla

Have I missed something, how would this work, to my knowledge this game wasn't total war and unless it were real-time, how would this function? I know I don't have the time to individually move hundreds of units, but if someone could explain how this might work... I kinda like that tactical battles the way they are, but maybe this is something different?

I'm more than a little surprised that you guys haven't created, even an ugly internal 'quest editor' of sorts, since this is all in XML, I would imagine that if the quest system is as powerful as you keep saying it is (and I don't doubt that), that because of it's complexity, it would simply make sense to create a tool that lets you work above the XML, in a Windows UI of some kind, as you have stated a .NET application or whatever. Do not read into this as me being a jerk, I'm not try

If you or anyone does purchase the game, word of advice, play the normal game before you play the campaign, the campaign is pretty shallow and doesn't show off all the game does have to offer. Still, I would wait but this is in case you choose to purchase right now. Also, patches aren't exactly coming out as quickly as people might have you believe, maybe once a week or every other week, also, patches are cool until they routinely change the experience week to week, so it's more of a

Yeah man don't take it personally, as TwoHawks suggested if folks do something like this on their own cool, but it just doesn't feel like a good idea in an official capacity regarding Stardock and community (specifically paying customers). I personally think his ideas of creating a more heavily and focused forum of threads specific to issues is a great idea, similar to a stackoverflow.com type of site but for Elemental would probably be a very useful too

Good point Khardis, I like those ideas, some kind of rubberband effect so that choices must be made and strategies must be worked out to accomplish your goals, instead of just researching what you want when you want and casting at will. I like limitations, power must be earned, it's so much more rewarding when it is.

I understand what your saying, I just assumed (I believe correctly, correct me if I'm wrong) that these proposed real-time discussions would be forging the path forward for Elemental, a game which I have purchased, forgive me if I have a slight issue with other folks who don't work for the company and who have a lot more determination and/or time to devote to the discussion, dictating what my game will turn into, it's my biggest fear, I'd much rather Stardock just make the game in their visio

Good point, I like that too but I still like the idea that the main soverign has spell books which limit what spells will be available over the course of a game. Again I'll point back to MoM and suggest expanding it. In MoM you could have your wizard who only specialized in say red magic and then you could recruit a wizard hero who had a few blue spells at their disposal. Part of what made recruiting that wizard exciting was that while your main wizard would never have access to blue spells,

I think your right, many of us played these older games when we were much younger and weren't critical or even aware of the underlying systems that made up how a game worked (at least I didn't, I was a child, I didn't care how it worked, just that it worked and I was too young to be so critical and anal of how things worked unless it was obviously broken, which I rarely picked up on). Part of me feels like if people like MoM so much, then go play MoM, it's still there and you can enjo

Hmm that's very unfortunate if they choose to go with poor originality over something that simply works better, but I guess that's their call to make, as I'm seeing everywhere else, they seem to want to listen better to the community and appear to be doing so, so I would hope they would just do what MoM did right and expand upon it. Your right, the spells do seem like cookie cutter copies of each other, because they are all built around a common system of effect calculation, this make
