I don't know about this. I have never played MoM but i am watching a playthrough right now and to be honest if you upgraded the graphics and interface a bit I'd rather play MoM. The only thing elemental has going to it are graphics and interface, at the moment at least. Eleamental has more potential considering modding capability and stardocks history of support, but as far as base games at or near release MoM has more and more interesting features. Just starting a game

Is this a joke and I'm just thick skulled? Have you ever played Gal Civ 2? I think stardock has a pretty good grasp on the concept since they included a "orion senate" in their game. It doesn't really fit the lore but they can think of something like a council of mages.
I like the Ideas so far. Powerful isolationist city-states ruled by powerful wizards or creatures. The only one I ever meet is yorin(sp?) I'd like to see them have unique buildings terrain/resources other then ogres. Maybe a city built around a bountiful/magical tree of life or waterfall with healing water. add in unique terrain graphic to give the game a more fantasy feel to the world. An evil cave that has a corrupted fire mana node in it
Or cities without local food require 1.5X or twice as much of the global food supply to simulate transporting the food. The consequence of slower population growth would eventually disappear as the city gets to a higher level, but if you have a constant increased food demand maintaining that mining town would have a real trade off to the benefit of providing metal.
I agree with the op. Geography should matter more. Real resource management is what gives world spanning, epic, empire building, turn based games their feel. Obviously too much micro management is bad, but always simplifying your game isn't good either. As the game is now if you conquer one neighbor your instantly almost all powerful because so many resources have magically spawned in their area in the early game and all their resources nodes are
Just found out trying to play... Yay. Edit: forgot to say thanks SD
As far as performance goes I don't think it is a big deal. Once they fix the memory leaks and clean stuff up generally it should run fine on larger maps. Making larger then large maps takes about 5 mins.
What size worlds? what factions and how many are you playing against? I've only started one game so far and it seemed like we were packed in pretty close and it made the world feel small. Anyway I'm asking cause I'm about to restart.
Nice post. I agree 100%
Yes they have said that the vast majority of the time you'll have to start a new game.
Damn it's getting late there isn't it? Are you guys still planning on releasing this tonight (Thursday)? Thanks for working at odd hours. I'm downloading the game now... only 10% so far :( I was hoping it would be out by the time my download is complete.
