Nice AAR. Doms 3. is one of the best [if not the best atm] MP fantasy TBS game. It has it's weaknesses however... 1. The singleplayer part is bad because of the weak AI. 2. Unbalanced races & spells. 3. Most of the units & spells are not used at all in MP games, because they are worthless basically. 2. + 3. > Enforces powergaming.
Tormy-
Good ideas lads....some counter spell system [like what you've mentioned] would be nice to have IF the AI would be able to use it properly. There is a more simple "AI friendly" solution: General protection spells for cities/settlements. There is a system like that in an old game, but I forgot that which one was it. :|

As we all know, one of the core gameplay elements in EWoM is the spellsystem. I really like the idea of destroying whole cities -for example- with a single spell [or let's call it ritual], however, there must be a way to defend against it. First of all, there must be spells which will protect the cities against the most dangerous spells like raise volcano, firestorm etc. Secondly, there must be spells, which will protect the armies against various spells, or at least raise their [magical]&nbs
Makes me wonder more about the tactical combat. Even 250 vs 1000 is tough let alone 4 vs 1000. And compared with the old MoM "1 unit per square" have we got rid of squares?
Hm.....yeah I made a post about tactical combat <> number of units on the battlefield as well, but no reply from the devs. :( Imo this is an important question, so some proper infos would be nice to have.
Modders can create their own 3D models in whatever program they want and then export it to Havok’s format. This is extremely good news!
Yeah but I suppose it won't be easy to create proper models and animations. 1 creature will have different animations: attacking, moving, standing still?, defending? etc.

I suppose we won't see 1000 [legion] + 3x250 [brigades] + 5x50 [battali

It's a small industry and we're friends with these guys. Soren Johnson, at Firaxis at the time, is in the GalCiv II credits. He's not there but it gives you an idea of how close knit our group is. That's why it always pains us to see people taking sides. We're all on the same side. &
I guess this has not been suggested yet. I think that some of the units should be bribeable. Example: some specific humanoids. If we gonna have a feature like this ever, it should be "modding friendly" of course. [IE: If we would like to create a creature, which is bribeable, give us a "bribeable" flag :)]
This is a good suggestion. [e digicons][/e]
You will be able to mod whatever you want, including neutral creatures. I am 100% sure about this.
Huh? Civ 5. and EWoM will be totally different games. While we are at it, I just read that [unit] stacks are removed from Civ 5. Wth? [e digicons]:omg:[/e]
But most of all, the Factions in EWoM seem to be a bit generic.I completely agree with you. Richard Burlew, author of the excellent webcomics "the Order of the Stick" and occasional gamedesigner (and D&D GM) once wrote an unfinished 9-parts diary of an exercise in world creation, and it really detailed the process through which he went through to make sure his world wouldn't feel generic. By most moral human standards, the Magnar, Urxen, and Trogs are pretty evil though to varying degrees (I'd say the Magnar are the ones who would be most classically "evil").
