The Outpost idea seems to clearly be a copy of their Mechanic from GalCiv2. Even Frogboy did a supposed slip reference as a joke in the original post about the outpost upgrade system. I say if you are going to take an idea that worked previously then take the whole idea not just part of it. That being said I don't think there is anything wrong with it but I think they should actually fully copy it's mechanics. Use Pioneers to upgrade the outpost and resources in

So it seems our friendly Stardock is not the only one who has release day crash issues. There are a lot of people in the various Civ5 forums reporting their games crash after only 10-20 mins. I know Elemental has had some crash and out of memory issues but those tend to happen after hours of play not minutes. Stardock is a smaller developer so we tend to over look those kind of things more but it's just sad when a big studio devoted to a major franchise does it, especially when you consider m

I figured this thread was a great place to post this give it's title. So the my friend who lives in Missouri calls me up today to tell me the store near by broke street date on Civ 5. But because it requires a steam activation he still can't play it. He's sitting there stuck with a copy of a game he's already paid for that he can't play because of some stupid DRM. Now I know some of you may argue that he shouldn't even technically have a copy of the game yet bec

Actually this sounds like like Fame in MoM. Capturing cities and such earned you fame while lossing them lost you fame. The more fame you had the more people would approach you to sell you items, heroes looking for work, and so on. The Heroes you had didn't really contribute their stats to your fame score but it was still a global stat that would effect how popular you were.

It's getting very annoying that about every other military tech I research the game says a "New Unit is Available". Not to mention it's terrible at naming the unit. It's quite annoying when I got 5 unit designs and 3 are named Duke but all 5 of them have the SAME STATS. The AI tries to design a new unit everytime you get a few new military techs but it simply designs the SAME unit that you had before since no new equipment was researched. Not to mention it would be nice to have some consisten

There is so much in MoM it's gonna be hard to cover it all but I'll try to be brief as well as descriptive so you know what I'm referring to. Leader Customization This is one of the places MoM really shined because based on what you picked would determine a lot of how you played the game. You could choose between 5 Schools of magic Nature, Chaos, Life, Death, and Sorcery. Unlike Elemental you could take up to 11 Books in each area and the number
The dungeons and questing for example, along with the focus on NPC's, is heavily reminiscent of Sierra's Lords of Magic.
Wrong! Most Fantasy Strategy games these days can trace their roots back to MoM. For example MoM was the first to have "hero" units in a game. Something that LoM, AW, Heroes of M&M, and so on have copied. Though many of them expand on curtain aspect of MoM while dropping others, such as city managem

I thought the whole article was kinda blah. I mean they basically were saying the more companies should got the small game up front with lots of DLC route. Which personally I hate. When I play a game I like to play all the way through it. Not play part of it then wait 2-3 months to play another part then so on. I know games like Dragon Age and such made a bit of money off their DLC but personal I never got any of it cause by the time it came out I had already beaten the game and didn't feel l

I hear a lot of people complain that their heroes die in Auto Resolve so they have to fight every battle. Well in case no one else has mentioned it I figured out a way to keep them alive the vast majority of the time. Simply give your Hero a Bow. Since archers get to attack without the enemy making a counter attack this works great. Before I would turn them all into casters and learned the spell Melting Touch. The problem was the AI was kinda stupid and sometimes even though the Hero

When they first mentioned they would have neutral cities I imagined it more like MoM. They would simply be cities scattered around the map for you to conquer if you wanted. But instead they are actual faction you can conduct diplomacy with. The problem though is they can not grow, their cities are limited if conquered, and they are just in the way. They should remove the city building limit on Minor faction cities cause most people just wanna raze them as soon as they get them. Next t

I'd like to see some quest with more options in them. The "Yes/No" really isn't much of an option as most of the time it's either accept or refuse quest. In the case of fighting enemy monsters it's more like Complete or Abandon quest. They could do a lot of story stuff with the multiple options but also could have reward choices. Like the smith that always gives you shield which the OP mentioned could give you choice Armor, Weapon, Shield. More then 2 options would be nice.
