Wow, that's a big change. I can see why you'd do it for city looks differentiation but the big cities will certainly not look nearly as impressive as they currently do if they remain one tile no matter the city size. 1 tile works well on 2d maps (AoW, MoM) but not so much with 3d, IMO. Especially with the unit sizes what they are. One possible solution (suggestion) would be to start on one tile for a small city and then have 4 set 'growth' cycles for each ci

As someone who oversees software development for a nationwide data collection system, I absolutely understand what Brad is saying. You have to manage user expectations because a whole lot can still change between 'now' and 'then'. I think that

In regards to the poorer folks using XP still, I'm guessing much of the XP use is business machines, also, would folks who haven't bought a new PC in the past 3+ years be the folks who buy TBS games? I have Windows XP installed and I have 3.4GB of physical memory recognized of the total 4GB installed because I have the large address memory configuration flag set in the OS. Why are you asking if they have XP installed vs, Win7 when that really has nothing to do with it? I think you are probably confusing some people. Win7 32-bit also only uses 2GB of memory just as XP 32-bit does. All 32-bit versions of Windows have that 2GB address space limitaion. So,&nbsp

I hope the new special abilities for weapons includes a "bleed" DOT effect. There's poison for some daggers already as a DOT in 0.86 but it would be nice to have more than 1 DOT in game and bleed would work very nicely. You could make it sword or axe specific since poison already seems to be dagger specific and maul is specific for maces. I'll probably try adding it in a mod if it doesn't make it into the vanilla game.

Wow, the spreadsheet that auto generates the game XML looks fantastic. This is pretty much the game I've always been waiting for as a modder. I can't wait to getmy hands on this stuff. I also can't wait to see what comes out of the modding community. There should be some wild stuff. That said, I hope they wait as long as possible to release the modding stuff in beta. With Smart Exception automatically sending in crash reports, I can see what a nightmar
There's no "wait", only "skip". I don't see how a wait feature would work with the current system. You would then need to have some sort of end turn mechanic as well.
All wait does is defer that unit's action until all other units have moved. At that point they MUST move or skip. No end turn is needed. If multiple units wait, they move after all other units in reverse order of ther ori

I, for one, certainly hope that they forget about FE multiplayer. Why? Because it allows for a much richer and more fun singleplayer experience. That's because they don't have to worry about balancing every single faction, spell and item in the game and can instead allow for a more epic experience. This will allow them to keep stuff in that would be consider OP in multiplayer. MP would make the game much blander and take up a crap ton of developer resources. I'd

As long as consoles are 32 bit, 64 bit is not going to become the standard for games. Too much porting of console/PC games going on there. It give no incentive at all for companies that have a hand in the console business to develop 64 bit versions of games. It's going to be years still before 64 bit becomes commonplace due to that alone. Unfortunate.

I know it was reported back during 0.77 but I can confirm that the Arena quest that gives the Heartseeker reward is still bugged in 0.86. It does not give you the reward after completion. I did not opt for the final battle to learn to craft weapons but selected Heartseeker instead.

Windows 8 is Microsoft's giant overreaction to mobile computing (iOS, Android, tablets, smartphones, etc). They are paranoid about becoming irrelevant and so they are doing what they always do, try to shoehorn an everything-fits-all solution into Windows. They want Windows to be the one-stop solution for everything. Unfortunately, it's not a very good fit. They have made this mistake over and over in the past. You'd think they'd learn by now. They make goo

On the factions, I wonder if they've thought of starting each faction with a tech that would differentiate it from the others. Tarth for example, could start with longbows and archers unlocked (are there crossbows in the game?). Another 'magic' faction might start with mages unlocked and another with defensive tech unlocked. Yet another could start with diplomacy tech unlocked and yet another could start with economy tech unlocked. There's enough tech to do thi

The quest calls for you to defeat widow spiders in ther lairs for their silk and initially spawns one lair on the map. I defeated it and another spawned. I defeated it with another champion and another spawned. After going on this way and defeating the 3rd (or 4th, can't remember exactly) lair nothing else happened. The quest did not finish and I did not get the reward (an enchanter champion joining). Now it is just sitting there in my log as an open quest with no further
One thing that would help is making each champion into a lair with an encounter. For those who don't know, and encounter is the game definition of when you enter a battle during a quest. That way, the hero you are attacking can have minions to defend him and some better equipment and health. Make each hero attack more like a boss fight with high risk/rewards. It should no be so easy to wipe them off the map.
This is su

Brad, I hope that although you will listen to comments to glean good ideas and get a sense of where problems are, you will let Kael stick to his vision and make the game as he thinks it should be. I say this because E:WoM left me totally cold but FE has me in its grip so i think the man has a clue as to what he's doing. It's a thousand times better and more fun already than the previous game. Sure, there are some issues that need to be cleaned up and diplomacy needs se

I have a Berserker's Axe with level 7 requirement in my current game and it has never hit any unit more than once in the whole game. It misses the second attack every time no matter what I'm attacking. Since it usually only does 7-9 damage on it's single attack and since the tactical combat freezes for minutes at a time every time I attack with it, I finally quit using it in disgust. <span style="font-size: x-s

I think tactical combat is just fine. I agree that cities need some work. They do grow too slowly and very little gets built due to lack of funding. Itemization does need some work as well. Diplomacy is still a mess. Overall, though, I find 0.86 to be very, very fun. it is not very stable though. "Out of memory" crashes and freezing in TC on using Maul are some examples. Very encouraged with where things are heading though.

The Longstrider Boots add +1 to movement. They work fine in 0.85 on the strategic map, boosting my ruler's movement from 2 to 3. However in tactical combat, the boots don't provide the +1 bonus and my ruler is back to only 2 movement per turn. I can see how this would be hard to spot so I wanted to report it here to be fixed because movement is very important both in and out of combat. The one other ruler I fought in my test game seemed to have movement bo

Please don't nerf the champions. I don't think balance is all that important as it relates to how fun and enjoyable it is to play a 4x game. The heroes in MoM were just as powerful as champions are (if not more so). You could wipe out entire armies and cities with just one if they were well developed. It didn't stop the game from being really fun and, in fact, I would argue that it contributed greatly to the fun. You can't identify with some nameless foot sol
