Kantok, the unit becomes smaller the more you zoom in in the strategic map. In the screenshot below you see what size the chasm hexagon rocks actually are in game. Compare them to the size of the hexagons in the shot in the OP, and you understand that the shot is zoomed in. A lot.

I don't mind the dead trees at all. Only thing I don't like graphically that much is the mountains with their very rounded look. The shoreline looks good and sharp, I wish the mountains would look as jagged and interesting as well. I feel compared to the rest of the visuals of the game, the mounatins underperform. EDIT: By the way, I really like the new icons.
Well it's just a really zoomed in strategic view with grids turned off. If you played WoM you know how the unit scaling works when you zoom in. I don't get what all the fuzz is about. You probably never zoom that much in when actually playing.
Looking great! Bodes well for modding support.
I don't think it is from tactical. I think it's just a zoomed in strategic map or a cutscene when the battle begins.
Can't beat the clock, Froggs.
Bottom line is that it's hard to be popular to the masses and a good businessman at the same time. Brad has done a hell of a job trying to be both with pretty good success. The irony is that as Frogboy mentioned in a reply, that he was a zealot himself. PS. I think I'm a grade 3 on the Jafo scale, with a hint of arrogance.
And if you want to nitpick, Stardock calls it a separate game set in the same world. So that the only relation is supposedly that it shares the lore. In reality of course it's more of a sequel.
Because I saw magic animations in WoM go through any tile object, including other units, like a ghost. There has been no indication that magic animations have been altered in any way. The animation goes on an A to B directory. It simply doesn't know that the tile art is there. It would take alot of coding to make projectiles curve around objects. Since LOS is not even being considered, why would they spend time on a LOS based projectile animatio
What makes you say that it is a pretty sure bet? Sure, you can guess, but I wouldn't have any reason to say that it's a sure thing.
I doubt there's line of sight, if that's what you're trying to imply. It was one of two main reasons they wouldn't do sieges in FE.
Didn't mean to imply anything with it. I doubt that too, since it's been said that LOS would not be in. However, I wonder how direct damage spells such as fireballs will work as their animation would go through the rock if they had a similar animation to WoM.
By the way, did anyone pay attention to the tactical battle screenshot with a rock inside the battlefield. I think this is the first time there has been an object that should theoretically block line of sight...
Looks a lot better than the previous random map pictures. It's much less blocky and squarey. Would be great if the shoreline could be smoothed out a bit from the current jagged system, but that might be asking too much. The blue player's starting position in the second screenshot is a bit off though. Distance between red and blue is out of proportion to distance between any other two players. Then again that could just be fun variety if you can end up starting really close by
We were having our update meeting a few days ago and I was going around the table until I got to Paul, our Art Director, and I asked what he was working on. His answer was "I'm trying to get my enchanting up to 100..."
Talk about iteration right there.
Sounds reasonable, it's always ok when you give a decent reason like this.
Saying "that's the way it is" is not an explanation at all. There should be a reason behind a feature, it shouldn't "just be". How does the feature I talk about affect your supervision of the forums?
Jafo, you really don't seem to like my idea much, but the thing is that no one has said a single point as to why it is advantageous to have the current system instead of my proposed improvement. All that happened here is that you got kind of touchy on the issue and my suggestion got ridiculed. Basically all arguments against my idea have been that there is a 'Recent Posts' button that everyone uses that works really well. I don't see why the way the Last Post Info works is bet
To me, what matters is that I enjoy the hell out of the time I play. The duration is secondary. .. that's what she said.
mqpiffle, I think a simpler solution to the far away outpost risk system might be better. Outpost upkeep could be relative to both how far the outpost is from your nearest town and how far away it is from the nearest ZoC that has a town inside it. This would mean that it is cheaper to have outposts inside your ZoC than out in the wilderness (logical), and it is cheaper to have outposts near a town than far from a town even if inside your borders (logical again). I think the road-under
Philly0381, recently I've begun to wonder if there will be a larger pushback with regards to this high tech craze. I was born and raised with pretty much every single high tech gizmo that I could dream of. I am an IT expert now and know my way around technology perfectly. But in the past year or so, I've gotten rid of my smart phone (I have a very cheap Nokia phone that has some functions but not a lot), lost all interest on getting any new toys and generally just enjoy a more simplis
Well, when you look at history, I don't know how strongly all our most important values were ever collectively derived from human dignity. It's never really been a choice. And that can be either viewed as a blessing in the olden times or a cause for the problems of free market today.
I wouldn't be surprised if untrackable / harder to track consumer technology would be the next step in this field. There's definitely a market for it.
I don't like the caravan idea either. In GalCiv the world wasn't nearly as hostile as here, so the freighter system was quite alright. I still didn't like it, but it was ok. Here, it would be tedious. I wouldn't mind having a road requirement, or some kind of a connectivity system.
That's the thing; if someone would now post in an old thread in one of the dead sub-forums, there's a high risk that it will go mostly unnoticed because the misc forums are active and cause any single posts to drop from the recent posts list pretty quickly. I know it's not too serious of an issue. I just wanted to help improve the forum experience.
The thing is that it doesn't help that I find the posts, when others don't. I don't want to converse with myself. [e digicons]:digichet:[/e]
