As you have suggested before seanw3, city militia should improve a lot during the game (on city level up, caused by building castles and so on). That would reduce steam rolling a bit. The easiest way to win on challenging for me, it to attack and take cities from others a little while into the game. Tougher militia would slow that tactic down
I just played a game where one of my cities ran out of space early game. I saw that it had rivers and wood around it, and for the first time I chopped away some forrest. This did not help and I could not build anymore in that city. Kinda game stopping. Shouldnt this chopping have freed space?
I think you are reading too much into the tactical battle comments. I believe he just wants to point out that the battles should not take too long, not be overly complex and one should not be able to rule the world just by being great at tactical battles alone. If it was possible to win battles against far superior enemies on a regular basis, then the rest of the game would have no importance. You need to gather good units on the world map to win tactical battles.
I am always Umber, and we cannot be defeated. We live on things you would not feed to your plants. Cockroaches come to us to learn about survival. We cannot be outdone. You should go to the highest mountain and shout "Umber Supremacy! Your will be done!" [e digicons]:troll:[/e]
I suggest you forget the whole thing. Elemental isnt worth it. Fallen Enchantress on the other hand, will be a good game. No multiplayer there though.
New cities can only be placed on grain, and only 8 or more squares apart.
Its a very tough decision in early game, and I like it. Go for mining to get the iron going, or go for weapons to kill more monsters early. Me likes
Its a feature :d The Dragonborn is here!
Yep, the cost could be a bit higher. 3 turns production instead of 1 would be a bit better.
I get this on several different units. Not only mounted.
I always play Umber. I love it when I produce Drakes of my own. They can sweep with their tail. Injuring everyone around them at once :d
Thanks for good info ppl :d
I fought Abeix once, but I didnt understand how to fight him. I could not shoot at him, nor attack him directly. Maybe cause he cast fear? I tried for many rounds, but I could never touch him at all.
It seems like its too easy just to spam pioneers and outposts early game. Pioneers are produced in one turn, and it seems to me like there is no cost to this spamming. Also, I dont quite get the influence mechanic. Placing lots of outposts on the outskrit of your enemy territory will steal resources as well. I remember culture fights in CIV IV, but the outpost spam in FE makes chaos with outposts almost on top of eachother.
I am quite defensive too, and there are many things in FE that helps me there. You can cast freeze on incoming armies, you get bonuses in your own territory, you can build buildings that add defense too. It is in the nature of 4x games that you need to expand. I think this game is great in the fact that you only need a few armies even late game (medium map). For me it does not turn into micromanagement hell. I am playing a game now that has lasted for hours and hours, and I am finally

Heavenfall, you have a lot to learn about keeping dogs and showing who is the Alpha :)
@Norseman - Hei der. Nå må de treige amerikanerene få fingen ut. Yeah. I am waiting too.
From the article (this paragraph ruined the article for me): The savagery displayed this week flows not from specifics but from the sense of ownership that makes some gamers believe that they own the games they play. That's a common mistake; gamers buy games, so naturally they feel entitled to them. But games are, and have always been, the property of the people who made them. People like Jennifer Hepler. - -End of quote-- I

I am optimistic about FE, as I enjoyed BETA1 and played it as it was already released. You are in the final phase here Stardock, and if you got the stamina to finish the game with style, it will be a great game. That said, its harder to tell if it will be a commercial success. Always difficult to predict. I will be mentioning the game on other forums if its good, so I will do my thing. One example of a small gem with hardly any attention is the swedish game warbarons (on warbarons.com
This is how I imagine my Umber, not how the game gives em bonuses/weaknesses by the way. :d
Umber has been ridiculed for their looks and way of life for ages. They life of what others call leftovers, and are tougher than a cockroach. Now, after the world collaps their time has come. They thrive where others falter and will show the world that they are the only ones left standing when the going gets touch. Umber: Vengeful - will always remember any wrongdoings against them Tough - needs only 50% of the food others need to survive. More hit
