EWOM made me scream in the night. Go for FE...

Sounds good to me :)
CIV IV rules supreme among the TBS, but FE will be up among the best (for me).
If you load an autosave of the new game does it crash again? If it does then link the savegame. We need to help them now :d
the maintenance thing is a definite bug, I've got a ticket in for it now. As for the intelligence of the monsters coming out of the portal, that's more of a general monster AI thing. As it improves they should get smarter, we generally don't have monsters actively attack cities, however, as it leads to some nasty situations. Remember, when summoning wild demons they don't always do what yo
CIV V was highly overrated methinks and FE is already a far better game with more depth. If Stardock use a month or two on bugfixing and balancing we will have a great game.
I think this game is good, but we need: 1. Bugfixing 2. Balancing (nerf heroes a bit, add monster strength) 3. More content. More quests, more heroes, UMBER, more magic ++ 4. More random events and cool stuff
Also, to say that the RNG is merciless is a cop out. This isn't a roguelike. It's a TBS. People expect some level of fair play, and have since Civ I. If you make a game that it takes you an hour or two to figure out that you were guaranteed to lose from the beginning... Well, that's a pretty badly designed game. You can make the monsters that guard lairs of secondary expansions weaker. They
got a note in about the henchmen, it seems they do actually load but you have to restart the game :/ needless to say, that's a bug... I wasn't having trouble with the altar quest scroll though, can you give more information about what's happening when you are using them? Have other people had problems with the quest scroll?
Have you loaded my savegame and tried to move my Sov t
@Tuidjy - Excactly like that. Just repeat many times and you will have a few that doesnt trigger.
I vote 'master scout' is one of the worst designs ever thought of for this game.
[e digicons]k1[/e] I will never play any race with master scout. Its like turning of the fun.
Has Stardock streamed some change to the files (or was it 981)? Suddenly I can see old Henchmen designs and I can build them. I can also give them equipment that doesnt disappear. On another note. One of the Henchmen was offered Shieldwall as an update, but he already had it. Not a biggie.
We have to stay in there and keep reporting. I will not criticize Stardock at this stage, cause Beta 5 will be about balancing and fixing bugs. I have put in two set of bug reports today (the bugs of Altar and the bugs of Shadow world). I will be a pretty angry puppy if this is not fixed before release, but for now we should report, report and then report errors.
Are we ready for terraforming yet :) Set a pioneer to work on land and dig ditches for the water to return. 10 turns later the land is fertile ;)
We need some monsters that will have group bonuses (a pack bonus that is reduced as units are killed). Then a single hero will fight a lot of strong monsters for many rounds, while an army will reduce the bonus by killing more units pr round. This will not remove the solo problem, but every little thing helps.
So if you cast it in enemy territory there are three outcomes: 1. It can kill some enemy army and reducing the AI power 2. It is killed by enemy army and gives lots of exp to AI 3. They will run after your army .. not as fun as if the monsters would actually attack a city....
The units that you summon now are only useful early game, and the scale really badly. This includes the ones that Resoln gets (not the splitting demons, they are fine). My suggestion is to add extra spells that will help the summoned units: Build fire: Level 5 fire magic spell. Will split your fire elemental into a group of two elementals Force wind: Level 4 air: Gives air elemental +5 attack +1 initiative and +20hp Sword of stone:
I think monsters should get buffs on many levels. Something like this: -Give the low level monsters some extra attack and initiative to make them a bit more dangerous and to make soloing a bit harder -Give the mid level units a bit of everything. +initiative, +hp and +attack/def. Not a lot, but make em a bit stronger. Give them followers as well. Give the trolls a few mite hangarounds and the same for other mid range monsters. -Make the units actually us
I just played a long game with Altar and I got the Shadow world spell. Since this spell is rather special and could be fun, I will make this seperate post about it. Bugs: -Even after a portal is destroyed, you pay upkeep for it unless you manually turn it off under enchantments -Its very hard to know which portal to disenchant if you have more than one and one is destroyed. All you get is some x and y values, but I dont know how to find this on the map.<
Link to savegame: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8523102/AltarWithBugs.EleSav I have played a long game with Altar with standard Sov. It took forever to find a second place to settle so I was way behind the curve in power. Still, it took a long time before Magnar came for me. By then it was midgame and I had only my Sov, a few spearmen and a melee hero. I though the game was over, but I sent my mel
Does this mean that Henchmen designs do show up in the trainable unit list now. When I design they tend not to be there.
The monsters should protect themselves (attack) if you go too close.
@AMDG - I was talking about taking Tarth to avoid problems, not so much about soloing. I am all for anything that makes the game tougher and soloing harder.
Last beta I got destroyed early by random super dragon that decided to stomp my only city and although I fought him with 6-7 troops I did 0 damage to him. This beta my first game I run into this bullshit. I am sorry, but this shit is still not funny or FUN. I ain't recommending this game to anyone while this kind of stuff is still in the game. Better to go play MoM or AoW or even Civ5
Weakling, yo
I've had random behaviour in 0.952 - reloaded many times to see the differences. The same city was left alone by monsters or became a lightning rod for the wildlands fauna. Back to custom races and shielding the city wth units having the master scouts ability - that actually worked.
You are taking away the fun of the game. Protecting yourself, clearing out an area, feeling the achievement of surviv
