As opposed to several people who are clamoring for some sort of in game ability or out of game discount.. A simple ship art pack that is high extensive (multiple ship hulls as proposed) Perhaps even new ship design paramaters so there is less overlap. Jewelry that has different connection points etc.. Bethesda's fault is that they made Horse Armor pack that is essential for protecting your horse, so for a real die-hard fan it's

What I'm most curious about is.. why does a long game mean a higher score? I would think finishing the game off fastest (with modifications to universe size) actually is a better indication of good gameplay.

The way Gal Civ 2 plays to make it multiplayer doesn't require just slapping in some LAN functionality. It requires a major rewrite of the game. For instance the Drengin are really powerful, but generally isolated off by their neighbors and their late game economy crash. A Human playing them wouldn't ahve to be evil.. so Dipolmacy, a major aspect of the SP game, is gone in the multiplayer. Another instance would be the ship designer. If you turn i

Actually he said they have better ethics than Starfarce, not that they have great ethics per se. Just better than StarForce, which is a pretty low bar to pass. I'd venture to say that a random mugging is better then the premedidiated mugging starfarce gives

The reason attackers get the initiative is that they get to dicatate when the battle is engaged. For instance, they can slow their engines at the last hour and arrive after calculated, or change patterns and spreads. At the very least, the attacker should get a heaft initiative bonus for being the one to initiate combat.

Also if you notice over time.. trade routes grow in their value of how much each brings in (check your trade screen) a 6 BC trade route in the early game has become a 60BC trade route later on in the game.

The problem with offering it at steep discounts is that you end up with someone reselling the game. Offer it at a cheap enough price (say 20) then someone goes and buys up as many as they can, brings it back to the states and sells it again.

Heck if you want to rent an army.. just buy your ships and finance them for 200+ turns. Or get the minors (or another major) to declare war on your enemy. Voila.. same effect, no need to change game mechanics.

It's in the manual but Guard turns off only when enemy ships are nearby, Sentry turns when any ship comes nearby. What it is it that it removes the ship from the manual Queue. If you are hitting the end turn button and it hasn't turned Green.. it means you ahve some ships that are still not done.

It's happened to me before to, both with Rangers and Corvettes A couple of annoying this is that they are REALLY slow.. But heck enormous power. I wonder if there is a bug that links the discovery of one with others somehow?

Actually there are a couple of big disadvantages to this technique. a) You constantly have to upgrade your ships unless playing on small maps. Upgrades get very expensive very quickly. b) if the AI does kill your ship that you've spent al the time and money upgrading, you've suddenly lost a massive investment. The big problem with this is that the AI doesn't know how to react to it well. Instead of deciding those ships are

I'm not sure if this has been reported here.. But there is an event where an 'evil force' is affecting one of your planets weather you destroy the colony or ignore it.. a few turns later a message pops up saying "Draginol has been destroyed" So whatever Draginol is supposed to spawn as isn't working.

Theres a certain point in the game when getting a new colony tends to hurt rather then help.. for instance you have to defend it and pay money to develop it. At this point I've started mass drivering planets into the ground. So even if I lose the planet... the AI has a much reduced powerbase to go from and has to rebuild. If I keep it, I stop it's production, focus it to research (or miliary if it's high enough) and move onto the next plan

LMAO, I hope that the evil Altarians have goatees, as all mirror universe bad guys should. Hmm whats funny about that is if you look at the Drengin and the Yor.. they kind of already have facial hair.. can you imagine a clean shaven (or at least without the mechanical mouth pieces) Yor?

I wonder how many of you are looking at the splotches on the planet textures that look like clouds and saying "man there are no lights.." At the right zoom level those white splotches look like a lighted up area, in solid blocks. Zoom to close and they look like clouds rather then lights.

This is an interesting little idea.. much like the Melee options in Star Control 2. Kind of a way to battle it out with your favorite looking ships, without having to go through the massive tweaking and balancing that doing multiplayer in the main GC2 game will take.
