However, I'm looking for the 'fixed rotational building placement' before I dive back in again
I never knew we had that ability to begin with (and subsequently lost)!

In my plays, I wait until I find a tile with three available essences and then I plunk a fort down right on top. With Auras of Might, Grace, and Vitality (and Arcane Forge if you have a Scrying Pool) I can pop out some pretty powerful units, even late game. If you're playing aggressively (or being forced into wars by the AI) I'd say have as many forts as you have "fronts" so each can replenish your stacks. For example, one fort was plenty in a medium map as I had one stack going

So I occasionally have to deal with this annoying bug that only occurs if I'm City Build mode, and if I accidentally click on the second build button (the one on far bottom, second below the list of building options), my strategy map becomes stuck in city build mode. Everything is in isometric top-down mode and is very disorienting. Below is a screen shot of what my map looks like after. Haven't figured out, apart from reloading, how to get out of this view. <img src="

It seems that I can stack accessories with Henchmen after they are trained. Basically, I will design units with four accessories, and when they're trained those Accessories show up on their profile picture but not on their equipment list (but the values are there). I can then visit a store and purchase those same Accessories again and put them on and increase stats. Those new accessories (even if the same exact ones) will show up in their inventory and can be worn, also showing up o

Okay, now that I've played several games, I'm going to have to say I side with Kalin. I take it back. Gaining influence isn't difficult at all. There are plenty of prestigious resource locations on a balanced map. Current game (AI setting where they use full algorithms but no bonuses) I have an excess of 450 influence points and I'm owning the medium map against 4 AIs. So yeah, forget my original post. I should have taken the time to understand the

Sorry Kalin, my mistake. I confused embassies with Missionary Halls which are limited to one per faction. But you're right, I still wouldn't want all my towns to be embassies. Yes, Nayth, I too think we should have gain influence with certain events, like defeating enemies...or at least have the choice of Influence vs Gildar.

Kalin, embassies only give you one point of influence per turn. and you can only have one in your entire faction. That's just not practical. People will pick heroic because it can be faster (40 influence per quest is pretty fast). I'm just asking for an in-between option. So far, it's pretty extreme difference. It's not really playing as a custom race if by choosing Men I'm pretty much forced to choose Heroic also to use one of the benefits of basing my custom on Men

Yeah, it seems like that's the only way to go until Stardock changes up the game mechanic (fingers crossed). Unfortunately that either leaves things up to chance where I may rarely, if ever, have the chance to use Henchmen or I will need to spam Cntl+N until I find a suitable location (which I don't want to do). As for the embassy option, I looked into that and it isn't a building, but an upgrade of path of your town when you reach level 3 or 4. So that'

I did see the mission hall in the tech tree which seemed absurdly low of just 1 per turn and only one bldg allowed per faction. I didn't know about the embassies, but jeez, need to wait until level 4?? I really don't want to have to take Heroic trait or any other trait just to generate henchmen. Already full up with Decalon (2 pts) and Enchanters. They need to make it so that quests still generate some influence when you complete them, or offer more buildings th

So how do I go about gaining influence for building henchmen? I don't see any buildings that help towns gain any. Except for the occasional scenic spots or having the Heroic trait (which now costs 2 points), I see no other way. Am I missing something?

So I downloaded 1.1 and it seems like Decalon is not fixed. I cannot find Spellbooks in the Magic research tree. Can anyone else confirm this trait is still broken for custom races? [Edit] Never mind. Created a new faction and sovereign and the tomes appear as unique items and Spellbooks appeared on the research tree. I also downloaded the beta 1.11 so not sure if that fixed it or if the original problem was just a fluke. This is my first time playing FE since release o

Even between races I am mopping the floor against the AI (currently at challenging) with combat. Pyruvate has a point, each hit should register at least some damage, even if it is just 1 point. Almost makes me think of fallout NV currently playing with damage threshold and damage resistance...not more than 80% of a hit can be mitigated IIRC. Yankee, will you give us an example of how that would play out?

So tactical battles/autoresolve...I find myself building units of single soldiers so powerful they can take on a swarm of bandits, critters, and an entire enemy army all by its lonesome. Now, I know this is a game based on fantasy, but this isn't the story of Cú Chulainn single-handedly defending Ulster from the army of Connacht either. Even the largest creatures cannot take on a swarm large enough. Me against a rat? No brainer. Against ten? Couple bites here and there but no p

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but you can only visit/buy from the store in your zone of control. So if you're out exploring, you're SOL. You need to get the unit you want equipment for back to your territories.

So it seems the Assassin trait is working fine. So I shall remove that from the lists, just poor choice in wording. Another issue to report: when stacking different units together (or moving them to a city), they tend to lose their remaining moves as they drop to the lowest available in the group (usually two). So that round or the next, my sovereign (or others) can only move two squares should it leave the city or stack.

Kilo, please don't let my airing of dirty laundry be mistaken as this game as not being fun now. I'm enjoying it immensely. I remember during the beta and when I first got the game, I couldn't tell what the f**k was going on and put the game aside. I know Stardock was working on improving the game, reading Brad's posts. I finally gave it a shot after version 1.1 came out. I can honestly say I am now having fun playing the game. If you enjoy 4X games, I would recommend this. And I know
