Quoting Ouchy Dathurts, reply 11 Also the host/client network doesn't have the problems of p2p with some ISPs limiting it and whatnot.Although WarCraft 3 uses a peer-to-peer model too.
Completely false. Please see the last thread on this subject, from about a week ago.
Horrific idea, not much to discuss.
People can connect to bnet in the first place because....you have to do nothing to get on battlenet. You don't have to forward any ports at all unless you want to host a game. So it doesn't have the inherant problems that DG has. Also the host/client network doesn't have the problems of p2p with some ISPs limiting it and whatnot. List checker doesn't do any pairing. It's a program you run instead of using WC3 to connect to battlenet. It puts your game on battlenets list
The host never actually is on battlenet. List checker lists the game on battlenet for people to join, but once they join up they're pretty much playing on your network. As far as I understand it, it does not create a VPN. sorry, but it does create a VPN, and the host IS actually on battle.net because it requires you to put in your account details for login, it also requires you to put in your games cd keys. it
Quick general question - what is port forwarding ? I've yet to be able to connect to any online game (whether skirmish or custom). I keep getting stuck at the "attempting to connect to [name]". I would be grateful for any assistance, particularly from another player in Singapore (I'm on Singtel). Also, if one were to use GameRanger, is port forwarding still required ?
not sure ab
List checker basically turns it into a LAN game for all intents and purposes. The end lag of the game ends of being lower than a game on battlenet. The host never actually is on battlenet. List checker lists the game on battlenet for people to join, but once they join up they're pretty much playing on your network. It just makes the game less laggy by taking battlenet out of the equation. But, the end point is DG is a P2P game and Blizzard games are Host to Client. IMO

And by muscle I mean take them to the pub and by nominal fee I mean $500. Thank you. For your future reference, should your services be retained, I prefer to drink top-shelf whiskey.
You'll get karkov vodka and you'll like it!
actually kittens + puppies = cutest
Those look fake. Still, not a fan of cats so no. All puppies all the time!
I request a puppies thread, as clearly, cuter and cooler than kittens.
Well, they want to wait till the MP connectivity is sorted before throwing the 50% of coupons out there. Add to that you only get a full refund if the game doesnt work for you and almost no one will be able to "return the first copy."
I enjoy the faithfully yours even though you're bitching for a refund as well as the before further action is taken part. Funny stuff.
The time constraint argument is a load. People do this shit all the time in DotA too. Game starts and 15 mins later someone says "oh i gotta go (whatever bullshit excuse)" if you dont have time to play a full game regardless of outcome then don't fucking join one. I dont give a shit about your time since you clearly don't give a shit about wasting 9 other peoples time. If the game is decided in 5 minutes you completely suck. People shouldn't be running around with a bun
Quoting Ouchy Dathurts, reply 3 Doesn't necessarily mean you suck. If its a close game it can usually go either way, someone gets a bad break and the tower of cards can fall. I've had plenty of DotA games where it's just so tight that any one small action can shift the game. It's like chess, but less boring. As long as you leave it all out there you can't be too mad about it. Everygame has to have a winner and a loser. Sometimes there's s
Quoting Ouchy Dathurts, reply 25Everyone wins some and loses some. No one really likes to lose, just gotta figure out why you're losing. I also don't think anyone likes it being rubbed in their face It's never fun to lose because someone is fucking useless and not pulling their weight. But when a really great game where everyone is going their part and its a back and forth happens it actually doesn't bother you that much to lose. <b
I'm a sore loser. lol
I think most girls are. Well I think people are in general but the girl "Dont let me win but I'll fucking kill you if i lose" thing gets a bit old lol.
I find girls generally like it when you rub shit in their face =P My buddy and his wife play, but he plays more than she does. She didn't like DotA at all but this seems to be a bit more her style.
Hasn't the full 3d model thing been debated? I personally have no idea, nor give a damn, just saying. Even if they are full 3d you underestimate some peoples skill and the amount of time some people have on their hands =)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0523287/ Well, he's not billed under his credits. Then again there is no demigod listed on imdb. As far as christopher lee goes he was Lucan D'lere in EQ2. There are actually some hillarious voice actors for that. Including Heather Graham, Winnie Cooper from the wonder years, and Wesley Crusher from Star trek. Also, the banker in big bend is TOTALLY the guy from those disney commercials who says "buy it today on disney D
Agreed. The AI is useless and no sensible person would have even come up with the "hey, if someone drops lets put the AI in its place" or "hey, lets match people against AI all day long" Just kill the whole thing. People would rather not play than play the AI =P
