I have 1 GB but my graphics card is only 128 MB. i have a few issues, especially in larger galaxies. turning down graphics options does help. might also want to double check if you have any unnceccessary idle programs, spyware, etc. running in the background.

How are you even posting if you don't have internet? heh. just complaining isn't going to get you anywhere. why don't you try offering an alternative, or asking for some kind of special help? jeez, where in the fine print does it say making this purchase gives you the right to treat others like personal slaves? try something like this. "Hello good people at StarDock; I hope you're doing well. I'm having some trouble playing the new version of GalCiv because the compu
i've noticed 'clumping' too, but i've wondered at times if it has as much to do with the number of habitable planets, not just stars. in a couple cases where i've played in, it seems like even though empire X has a huge amount of space, it didn't get all that many planets.i haven't played into enough of these games to get a clear sense of it.
also possible that the AI started to compensate by boosting their own influence... but doesn't seem likely that any of these reasons would prevent rebellions all together
i think it's a luck thing too. when i started playing i was convinced the settings also affected the average PQ and frequency of bonus tiles. but they don't. number of stars too: i've started a game or two on 'common' that had hardly any stars.
space bar closes a lot of screens.
yeah, it is a bit chore for what starbases are worth. at the same time, i think the need to build a new constructor per module is a significant tatical element in the game. you mention a hypothetical fleet of 30 constructors. well, if you're trying to send them behind enemy lines, and for some reason they get separated from your escort and run into a loan scout, you may still be able to get many of them through if you're close to your target (unless this scout has 30 movement points). it also ma
i read a post about this in the campaign this morning. since it seemed isolated, it seemed more related to this person's choice of normal difficulty. but if this happens on painful... well, it's not happening on regular games to me, at least
get three computers isn't that the beauty of TBS? i played SE4 briefly. there were things i really liked about it, things i would have really loved to see in GC2. heck, if i could merge the two games, i would. but I found the AI in SE4 was really bad. i think when it comes to the future of strategy gaming, stardock has set a precident with GC2 by creating unscripted AI. unless their AI can hold
I agree that different aspects of the game really open up on larger galaxies. unfortunately I suspect the number of ships and everything later in these games might be too much for my computer.... but yes, other options you'll notice change things significantly as well. personally, i like a huge galaxy with fewer stars and planets. you get more base $ for trade on larger maps, but it's harder to cover your trade routes with economic base boosts. i don't think the cost of building new bases is 'cu
i live in southern california, so i don't know if this will be the case where you are. generally there are 3 spiciness levels of salsa: mild, medium, and hot. in some of the more authentic restaurants, there are 5 or more. mild, medium, hot, very hot, and masochistic. notice how 'medium' is not in the middle? besides, it sounds like 'challenging' is an apt way to describe what you're looking for, and it just so happens to be the next difficulty level. i just started playing on tough m
Aggressive civs need to be more aware of the potential consequences of aggressive behavior. i've noticed this lately (great post btw). i tend not to go for the jugular, but play games until tech levels are high all around. in the game before last, the drengin managed to wipe everyone else out, but the
designed a yor ship with engines vaguely inspired by the oorai battle ships from the season finale... as much cylon base ship, though. i like SG more for sets anyway... i've never thought the ships are all the fantastic looking. ps: i don't know if that's the right spelling for 'oorai.' this spelling i'm using comes from the 3rd gender in Octavia Butler's Xenogenesis trilogy. i really don't feel like being inundated with scifi.com's junk to
i realized that was likely after i posted. even if i wasn't trying, glad i could get yer back
so? 100k is a lot less than you think when you're talking about a business. my company's facility lease alone has got to be at least a million a month. consider that a good chunk of that is taxed. not only do they have to pay for the art, they have to pay for quite a bit. it's not a flat commission for art-- they're probably salaried staff artists. i make CRAP, and 100k wouldn't cover a month's work of 5 people at my pay when you consider all the things we need to do our jobs. there's
hmmm.... people think $9 is a lot.... it wasn't THAT long ago i was completely dependant on birthdays and holidays for income. what about a compromise? for those of us who want and can afford the art ASAP, we pay $9. our serial for the purchase (or something) will give us a $5 discount on the expansion, which will also contain the art. if there is an expansion. now here comes the barrage of people who want the full $9 back. would
i'd be willing to pay more than $9 for that. maybe you could add alternative designs for functional components tied to the different races (so that drengin hull types would have their own engines, etc). maybe even new hull types so each race is unique. maybe that's a little ambitious. if i had all the time in the world, my opinion might be different. i might be more willing to teach myself to design my own components. but instead
finally, i said finally twice, and neither of the paragraphs were final. no one's perfect.
Based on your logic I stopped reading after the first paragraph because in your first paragraph you have 4 grammatical errors. Master the language yourself before you start complaining about others i also stopped reading in the beginning. read a few of the other posts, such as the "I'd do it for free"
i know, i know. but seriously, i did enough proof reading in college.
i'm finishing up a game where several AI players built hyperion shrinkers and logistics systems. the game's down to me (Yor) and the Drengin. during the various surrenders and cultural conversions that have led up to this paradigm, i aquired new planets resulting in my possession of two extra logistics systems and three extra shrinkers (not to mention about 3 additional omega defense systems, an extra hyperion fleet defense completed after i converted
make it your combo economic and political capital. with the potential population you could put on that planet, even just one embassy is gonna do huge things for your influence.
indeed. i work CS for a national lender. believe me, a teenage brat frustrated with his new video game isn't half as bad as a fully grown brat who didn't read their mortgage contract before signing it. and at least stardock is small enough with enough peer visibility that we can still roll up a newspaper, hit him in the nose and say NO! BAD!
at least i think its simple. i find it can get a little difficult at times to locate the structure i'm looking for in the planet surface screen and colony management subscreens. later in a game when there can be many structures available it can get hard to find to find the simple ones. it'd be nice if they were organized based on more than alphabetical name (since the names of the common structures can change completely from level to level). if all the common structures came first and kept the s
