The 4th annual Desert Bus For Hope charity fundraiser begins again tonight, and I thought I'd help spread the word. They've raised over a quarter million dollars in the last 3 years in support of Child's Play, and their hoping to break records again this year. Basically, it's a Victoria, British Columbia group of students/sketch comedians who embarrass themselves publicly for donations, auction off gaming/geek memorabilia, and play Desert Bus, the world's most boring game, 24 hours a

Another possibility, though kind of an oddball longshot: I've noticed with at least one game that Windows 7 will change the game save directory based on whether or not the game is run in Admistrator mode, placing the files in your documents folder. If the game doesn't know to check there, it doesn't see the files... I've noticed this with the older title Realms of Arkania 2. When I run the game as an administrator, the savegames are placed in Documents/My Games/Realms of Arkania/somes
Have the possibility of smaller spell icons in the spell research window come up? I like to set up spell research queues well in advance, and having only a few (12?) spells fit on each page means that I'm flipping through pages like mad trying to organize things...
I think that may account for some of your issues! Most especially your problems connecting you game servers. I also find it strange that you can't connect both systems to the internet at once. To be honest, that sounds a lot more like dial-up than ADSL! Kooky Brits.
Modem or router? They are very different breeds. The modem converts the cable of ADSL signal you receive into something your computer can use. In NA, the modem is supplied with the broadband service. Routers, on the other hand, serve as a middle-man between the modem and multiple computers. I'm sorry if this is covering what you already know, but your use of the term modem is confusing me a little. If you did mean Modem, though, you will need to specify whether it's a cable mode
I will enjoy seeing more of the lore show through. I'm admittedly no game designer, but outside of the campaign, there doesn't seem to be any real references to lore. In fact, the only place I can think of would be when you are setting up the game and choosing which Empire/Kingdom to play. We don't receive many hints through the in-game models or art (none at all, in fact, if we play with the cloth map), there is precious little communication with other parties (Janus advises the play
Kraz, while sounding somewhat... harsh... Isn't off the mark. 1 gig of RAM is essentially the minimum required to run Windows 7. While you are likely running Vista, it's not too much easier on the RAM, and every other program running is taking a piece of that pie. The end effect is you require a lot more to run even semi-modern titles. Luckily, RAM is the easiest and cheapest component to upgrade. Have a look at Newegg if you're American, or NCIX if you're Canadian and you will likely
Hey, how did increasing your screen res go? I haven't had time to look into it. I did spend some time playing, though. Still a fine game, though I've noticed some quirks. Lockpicks are far too rare, the bench-warmers gaining skill points at almost double the rate of my main soldiers.. Ah well, still good!
Quoting louist, reply 3 As to your question: It is possible to get around the problem without fussing with memory every time. You will need the 1.2 patch, a hex editor, a program to verify md5sums, and a specific cracked exe. I cannot tell you where to find any cracks, and I dont condone their use. However, JoWood has not offered any support for this issue since it came to light years ago, and I dont know of any other permanent solutio
There are a few rumors, but little else. I do believe, though, that I read the Jagged Alliance 2 remake was using an updated form of the engine. JA2:R, though, is going to use a puasable real time mechanic, rather than straight turn-based. Think along the lines of UFO:A series, or even the BG, Icewind Dale, and NVNs games.
+1 killing floor. The others do not fit the bill.
Wow, crazy you should mention S2. I just reinstalled it on Monday, and had run into the same problem. Not to mention that Nvidia knockoff GPU you're using!
What platform is the game for?
That is some impressive thread necromancy!
Yup, same as now, just issue an attack order on empty map and your units will attack anything they come across along the way.
*grumble grumble* Now I have to find that disk and figure out how far my mind has slipped.
The most successful franchises refine rather than reinvent. If you create a hugely popular game, why would you risk changing too much? Instead you refine, polish, and implement the better ideas to come out of your employees, fans, and the industry as a whole. There have certainly been enough changes and innovations to the RTS formula between the release of SC1 and SC2 that the latter feels like more than a mere graphical overhaul. Heck, Starcraft didn't even have an "attack-move" orde
I haven't played it myself, but I thought I'd mention it's half price through impulse right now.
The Brotherhood in New Vegas is placed opposite the Followers of the Apocalypse. So far, aside from a few companions with Enclave back-stories, there hasn't been any sign what-so-ever.
A couple things come to mind. Make sure you are buying the right calibre of ammo, as there are number of sizes. If you look at the gun in your inventory, it will show which type you need. If you have multiple types of the same size, such as armour piercing or hollow point, you can toggle which type you are using by pressing "2" outside of the Pip-Boy interface. It's possible you've been buying specialty ammo! Otherwise... that's not a problem I've encountered yet.
Ugg, I bet you could have gotten around all that by installing it directly into C:, rather than program files x86. But hey, go scripted tech-support, no?
I rarely use VATS myself except for when the fighting gets in too close, and enemies are jumping around spasticly, where my weapons of choice (revolvers and sniper rifles) are a lot harder to manually aim. Otherwise, sniping from long range, and using revolvers at mid to semi-close range is all done outside of VATS.
I'm playing as a sniper type. While this build suffers a little early on due to a really low level of scoped weapons, it's been laughably easy once I found the Gobi Rifle. (And became only easier when I found the A-M Rifle, which one-shots Deathclaws.) Using Boon and ED-E seems the best, as each of their perks go particularly well with sniping. And if I find myself in a situation where I'm surrounded, I pull out my trusty pistol of the moment. Actually, this brings us to the topic of
Ah, well, that would be nice. I've been buying all I come across, even though I don't both with the game.
There are a number of bugs. A few of the quests are flat out broken, including two rather important ones I've come cross, and there are a number of minor quest bugs. Nothing game-breaking yet. It's not a perfect release, but it's still very playable. Is this after the patch? I know they released two, one of which was supposed to fix some scripting. I haven't run into any quest-related issues yet (mostly just stuff getting stuck in rocks
Of course. It's everyone from October 31 back.
Thanks Frogboy and Psychoak. This was the first I'd heard/read about the expansions, and I got a little... defensive :) Still excited for the magic revamp, and can't wait for 1.1.
