I almost never attack anyone. Usually my game goes like this: I research all kinds of social/research/trade/moral techs. I trade tech with minor races so that I have SOME weapons when I get attacked. I pay off most races that try to get money from me. When it seems like i'm not going to be able to hold off an AI, i try to pay off another race to attack them. then i put my sliders to 100% social, until most of my building projects are finnished (somet

Thank you for the response guys! Very informative. Especially Iztok gave some nice insights. I hope some other players join this discussion. Do you guys attack enemies from different angles or just one frontal approach? Do you escort your transports? Do you attack enemies with similar military rankings? What do you consider a weak and strong target? Where do you build up your armada?

There are really a lot of posts on this issue. Search for "economy" and you'll get them. Most of them are worth to read. Several tips I found were excellent are: - do not build all your planets full with improvements at once - build a lot of economy structures in the beginning, especially on planets with large populations or the potential to reach and sustain high populations - focus on economy and morale techs in the beginning - do not speed buy a lot of colony ships, only

How do you choose which enemy to attack first, assuming that you are not in war with anyone and the galaxy is rather peacefull? Do you pick the strongest race or the weakest? (This could be in terms of population, military or economy). Or perhaps your neighbour? Further, if you have picked an enemy, what's your usual strategy to defeat it?

It would be an interesting mega event to have the best opponent become very dumb and a weak one very intellegent. This shouldn't be hard to change I suspect.

Something astronomical is always cool. Perhaps a cool metereorite. Further, something diplomatical is cool. A good friend becomes an evil enemy. A minor race goes wild and expands rapidly. Perhaps the science fiction literature has some nice ideas for mega events. Some time travelling perhaps?

Thank you very much, very interesting. Nonetheless please give the text more structure in future posts. It's sometimes hard on the eyes. I am wondering who still plays DL. Well I am. You research the morale branch fairly late, why is this? Isn't handy to give your morale a boost? How do you use your production sliders etc.. during the game?

Are there any plans to update DL with some of these improvements as well? Good point Moose. I still play DL quite often, in fact that is where i play with mods, so i would really love to not see DL get left behind. Although, i can already feel the hammer falling......... Samen question, please could somebody (perhaps Brad) respond to this. I really hope so!
