I liked your old beta thread about this stuff, I think it really gave some good insight into the problems. Hopefully you can do the same here and Stardock can use them to really improve the interface. Your suggestions are pretty helpful and constructive. Kinda sucks about the building construction, I liked seeing the beta queue. It kinda is TBS 101 to display what your doing with little or no effort. Lastly, Stardock really NEEDS to implement a "Skip to next free unit" button.

Good point with the comparison to RTW. However, even in RTW you could improve their weapons and armor slightly (with blacksmiths and armorers).

You CANNOT be loading an existing game or a savegame if you want to see any changes. Start fresh. I don't think we were being clear enough. I hope you understand this now.

Faction modding REALLY isn't too difficult to mod. There is a modding guide in the "Mod" forums. Download Notepad ++, look up the guide, and make your custom faction. It literally took me 10-15 minutes (including testing) to create my "Kingdom of Lordaeron". Good luck!

Yeah, I've had a number of the same maps in beta. I didn't really think they were randomly generates. HOWEVER, there is the small possibility that you've gotten the same random seed multiple times (therefor generating the same map). I doubt that though...

.XML files are very sensitive to modification. Ensure that you have all your , beginnings and ends, and all the proper opening and closing tags (or whatever). You probably missed something in the code. Welcome to testing and debugging :P P.S. You must also start a new game for ANY changes to take effect and display. Perhaps this is the problem right here...

What are you changing? What values? You can easily make your own factions by making a separate .XML file and placing it under "Units" in "My Documents/My Games/Elemental". I'd recommend doing that rather then editing the base factions . I'd avoid editing any of the core files if at all possible.
