Agreed. An excellent idea. I'd personally enjoy seeing multiple variations of things like houses and markets.

Looks great! Thanks for the update. Can't wait until next Monday... I'll have to... go out of town or something to make the time pass quicker.
Quoting SilentScream, reply 15Just tell me you've fixed all the random crashes and I'll be happy. We added tons of new random crashes. Rather than thinking of them as bugs, they're now documented as "random events".
Sweet ! I cannot wait. Basically the
Seriously guys, this is a beta. I know you probably don't want to hear it but we are beta testers and our goal was intended to find bugs and errors so Stardock can correct them. This is NOT a demo and it's not for our pleasure . However, if these issues crop up in a release candidate, then I'm inclined to agree with you. However, we're certainly not there yet.
Ok Palin... :P
Definitely don't do a more closed application based beta. I pre-ordered Elemental JUST to have access to the beta and to try out this amazing game. I'd hate for them to suddenly say, "You can pre-order and just wait until the game comes out to try it". It's something unique with Stardock beta's that I love and I go into it KNOWING that this is a beta and not a demo. More people just need to understand what that means and be less ignorant of that fact. I believe that the beta went well
Maybe it's just me but has anyone played Elemental multiplayer yet? How would we know what will make it better? I also don't think a "co-op" ruling of an empire is going to work in a TBS/RPG game. Heck, it never worked in something as simple as Age of Empires unless you were playing with your wife or partner or clone who thinks exactly like you do.
I didn't know Middle Earth was... such a boring looking map (the Elven island) :P Anyways, I wanted to ask if it seems like the Empire factions have quite a bit more usable land then the Kingdoms. Umber and Magnar both seem really large compared to something like Gilden or New Pariden (Capitar seems decent sized). Seems like they'd have more resources and room for expansion which would be a nice benefit. I wander whats in that unknown area to the North... ;)
Each race has the possibility of having unique tech trees, however, I think there are only two or three (since beta 4). Basically, the Empire has different techs then the Kingdoms. Perhaps there will be more at launch? I like the way research works in this game because it does give you options. You can focus on "Civilization" techs and really get an industrial or commercial giant out of your Kingdom but then you might lack a stronger military or magic abilities. Focus on "Magic" and y
Frogboy reported that they'd caught the memory leak (with our help) and squashed the major stability bugs. We have his word on this so I think it's safe to say it'll be stable. The beta was probably intended to be unstable due to debug stuff and trying to discover errors/bugs. Agreeing with Paradoxical, beta was not a demo. The intent was to correct errors, bugs, and problems. I think that it was successful too.
Excellent news and excellent screenshots. Thanks guys!
Maybe it'll be released as a flash game or something. Honestly, I really don't care at this point. It's better just to make fun of it, I think they would ruin the joke if someone released it.
Quoting awuffleablehedgie, reply 3will there be an early release for beta players? Seconded!!! Bring on that wimpy AI. I'm ready. I'll be happy if can even reach me if I close myself on an island by lowering the land around me. Found a way around that one yet, Frogster? Will it build boats and come after me or will it raise the land back up and make a land-bridge?
In retail they'll invent airships... your screwed.</
Actually, there was a female GS employee back at my college. I bet she is still there right now. They do exist but its rare. Also, GS seems to rely on first hand knowledge that employees bring with them upon being hired. But, then again, I'm a GS fan :P
Frogboy, he sure knows how to treat us loyal human customers :P Nobody wins in AI vs. AI fights. Hasn't GalCiv2 taught you anything? Which, btw, after hearing about that games AI I did think it was something like the beginning of Skynet AI because they "learned" and adapted to what was going on. Down right annoying when they put shields on their worthless ships because I used lasers. Pffff!
1- I've been successful adding any mods I have (.XML) buy placing them in any folder already created in "My Documents/Elemental" (ie. Units, Race...). 2- I think we're gonna have to restart a new game to reload XML. No idea why that is though... 3- I do hope they document more. Luckily, they did a lot of internal documentation within individual files. 4- I agree with Cromcrom about modding. However, I love my XML modding.
Just a theory but you could try copying the data from a goodie hut quest and seeing if that works... maybe .
I have to agree with onomastikon , an interesting loading screen or one with some helpful information can make up for longer loading times. The play will forgive a developer if they plan ahead a little and do this. APB, for example, has some LONG loading times but I find the loading "movie" pretty interesting so I can forgive the load
Good suggestion.
Whatever you do, don't reduce content or cut things out of the game ! I'd much rather have more content that loads slower then less content that loads faster. Someone can always "mod away" all the extra crap if he/she wants to streamline the game because it's loading slowly. And, for the record, I like what you and TheProgress are discussing. Sounds like a solid plan and I, for one, would be willing to have that added wait in the beginning for overall faster loading.</
Now for your hourly update here is Rebecca Brock, of International Galactic News: "Thanks Jim, breaking news this hour: Notorious space criminal 'TheProgress' has made a daring escape today from an Intergalactic Prison located in orbit around Uranus. Sources say that it was his buttplug that allowed him to escape. Apparently it was composed of an explosive compound, allowing the prisoner to breach his cell, kill several g
I wouldn't mind seeing an option for world population, especially in games where the "champion" population is quickly eliminated or recruited never to be seen again. I'd especially like seeing more heroes in the world population because then people will think "I need to download more heroes" and they'll go and find my Heroes Mod , hehe. *Selfless advertising*
Nice. Looking forward to this :D
I didn't know the beta stopped. I feel fortunate that I got in when I did. Don't worry though, the retail Elemental will be worth the wait.
If you remember both Civilization and Fallout's mod communities started small and grew because of the popularity of their modding productions. Oblivion had countless mods that REALLY improved upon the game and Fallout has it's own assortment of major mods but also started with an established modding website (Nexus, taken from Oblivion). If Elemental is a great game, it is easy to mod, and we get some good mod talent who can produce spectacular mods then you'll see Elemental living a l
I've been watching every G4 episode trying to find it. Anyone know what the delay is between recording and viewing?
