I believe that this is intended so that beginners players are a little stronger. This is so you don't get slaughtered by turtles in the beginning. IMO, they shouldn't be buffed so much as it makes the initial unlocked units (Observer and Fwd. Observer) somewhat useless. It'd be an easy fix in the code.

haha, it's always something silly like that. Glad to hear its working. I suppose I could have put another "Elemental" folder under "My Games" but I didn't want to make it a maze of folders. What do you think? Also, if you'd like to convert your sovereign into a hero/champion unit (once you finish his background) I could add him into an impending "Community Heroes Pack" for people to play with.
Yeah, I've seen this too. The AI is getting a couple big advantages at higher difficulty. However, if you want an extra challange then Ridiculous is probably the way to go. However, for a "fair" game we could probably give most difficulties these: 1.0 1 That might balancing it up a bit more. I must say though, that this
Do we still have to be a different gender, or is that optional? As a matter of fact, that is a very good idea. Why don't we have homosexual sovereigns?
You guys missed that discussion and rage. Go mod it :P
Ah the old "A Wizard did it" excuse. "Wait a second I was away for 5 years why do we have 3 children now?" "Ummm Magic?" "Ah okay then" <br
It really isn't anything like Civ or Gal Civ. In Civ, your president/king/despot/emperor doesn't take to the field and kill a legion or army. Individual spiders don't kill a pioneer capable of founding a city. Elemental is supposed to be simulating the reunification of two vast continents and the fight between a number of great races, kingdoms, and empires. Instead, it seems to be evoking just what the above post
Why does the Hiergamenon entry say "Janusk" at the top, but "Eldmyre" in the description?
INTERESTING FACT! Did you know all advisors are named Janusk? It randomly selects someone to "play the role" of Janusk. They are usually picked from merchants but sometimes other classes. Eldmyr

Yeah, I think some of the items (especially early ones) are WAY overpriced. If I don't want to spend 5-10 character points on a weak staff then my guy is unarmed and it might take me 20-30 turns to get the cash for a simple club. That just isn't right. Also, careful with the adventure research there, chief. You don't want to start spawning dragons and demons when you've still got peasants.
Yeah, I think you did a little too much shopping for your one and only son. You spoiled him. I don't think that can all be the game generated character, it has to be because of the buffs and items. He's probably powerful... but not quite that powerful. Lastly, champions do need a little more balancing.
I thought that Brad said you could get a "divorce" by following a similar method and then remarry? Losing your one and only wife before reproduction kinda puts a crimp in dynasty management :P
Existing heroes don't have too many attributes, the problem is that custom sovereigns don't have enough. I think that custom sovereign's need another 20-30 points to spend (and more to spend it on, see my Traits and Abilities Mod). Also, there is a topic about the default sovereigns where it is revealed that they're VERY powerful. I suggest creating you character and just modifying the XML for them... just don't go crazy with it, lol.
Good questions. Perhaps it's something unlocked either in the later magic techs or at a higher level.
Ah ... ok ... if it doesn't effect AI difficulty, then where DO I change AI difficulty?
When you are selecting the other factions there is a difficulty button when you click each of them under "Strengths and Weaknesses".
Hmmm, where'd you put the files? And do you know, specifically, which file isn't working or what isn't working (road, eyes, skins, champions)? You could also try disabling the FixHeads.xml file... I shouldn't have left it in there but decided to keep it there in case a better modder could figure out it's problems. Maybe thats the problem? Lastly, many of the champions use some of my Traits and Abilities Mod, however, they are not dependant on one another to work (though highly
Good questions, I look forward to seeing it resolved. I don't believe that there are any random triggers for abilities... but I could be wrong. Let me know if there is because that'd be great for some interesting personality traits (gambler, glutton). I don't believe there is such a thing as a "champion class". It's declared in the NPC file but doesn't appear to have an effect as far as I can tell. Hopefully they'll have a function in the future or can be modded. I hav
I'd like to add that sometimes things like materials, iron, and crystals have no value (even when the other faction has few of them). I think the trading of resources work better in beta 4, might want to check the code.
2. Put a unit out there and have him guard. Not automated. Requires work (just like Civ4 or GalCiv2) :P 3. Yeah, he's likely out of your price range, too far away to recruit, already recruited, or has gone rogue (creature). 4. idk what charisma does. That might only effect the sovereign... which would be kinda stupid (and more the reason why we need attributes to effect bonuses). 5. The crowns actually represent the experience value of the unit</strong
Where is the "World" Difficulty defined? I can't find it in .XML and it's not CoreDifficulty.xml.
Tomorrow. Priorities, my friend. This patch was excellent !
Yeah, the color box is kinda tricky. I usually make a new sovereign with my selected colors then use those. Also, if at all possible, could you possibly format the .xml output so it's not such a jumbled mess of stuff. Add in a few new paragraph for each line.
I've released a Heroes Mod (in the Mod section) if you're interested. Not that it has many women in it at the moment (maybe 3-4). I'm actually planning on expanding it sometime with more women who are marry able as the base game does seem to have some gender inequality issues. This also hurts because the AI leaders START married and immediately are making babies (lucky bastards). I'd also appreciate any help you guys have in modding, if your interested :)
Great news, thanks for the update. I'm quite impressed with whats stated here. Can't wait to see it up and running (smoothly). btw, what is a "game tree that was split in two" ? What does that mean? Also, what are these late game champion abilities you mentioned? I'm very curious to see what is new, changed, and improved. P.S. Don't break my mods please, LOL :P P.S.S. Just kidding, more stuff to wo
Impulse is the way to go.
Wait... we can expect something tonight? Cool.
