Some people are assuming Stardock can release the game at will. Anyone who has been following the game knows this is not the case. They had a choice to commit to this retail window, or one next year. They went with the earlier. Hindsight is always 20/20. Not defending the state of the game, or even the choice of when to release, but I think it's important to understand there are business agreements that go on behind the scenes that

Congratulations Stardock. Hey Brad, where around Dallas did you grow up? I live in McKinney.

I don't like the change. I agree that it is very hard to read, fuzzy and dull. The large Elemental logo covers up the menus at the top, so there is no way to access the 'options' to make any changes to the way I see it. No way to navigate anywhere but the recent posts.
While I don't really have much of a problem editing .xml-files, not having a proper in-game/workshop faction builder would suck ass. Poking at the .xml's is something I do to tune or edit my factions beyond the basics, I'd truly hate to create factions from scratch. There's a reason I'm not a programmer or part of mod teams. It's not because I can't learn to muck about in various codes, but because I'm consistently bored out of my skull

I also have been mostly playing on the cloth map, because it is much easier to see all special squares, but especially the goodie huts. Maybe there could be an icon like in the cloth map that floats over the square in the 3D view to catch your eye. It could even be transparent like a watermark.
I agree, there should be a lot more options in all aspects of the custom sovereign and faction screens. Right now it seems there are just different color versions of the same thing (like the hat). It should be a single copy of the hat with another button to change color to anything in the pallet, and a lot more hats and other items.
"Shards don't grow on trees." Given this was said by Frogboy, it does sort of bring up the question: How do I pick my Shard based Magic Books, which is done pre-map generation, with any kind of consistent knowledge they will actually see any use at all? Why would I spend valuable creation points if uncertainty becomes a factor?
I agree, this is a problem

I went to upgrade my order today and it is trying to charge me shipping again. I checked my previous history and it clearly shows that I ordered the box and I payed for shipping already. Is there some way that the system can figure that out and not charge me the extra $10?
Focus on the races, let us customize the factions.
This also happens to me. Usually when trying to load a saved game, but sometimes on a new game. It seems to work better and is more stable when run in windowed mode and with IE running on another window for some reason. The CPU having to work harder by running multiple programs seems to keep it from hanging, which is weird to me.

I guess I will visit that link on a daily basis from now on. Me too. Makes me want a poll on how many folks missed that poll.
I also missed the poll. Seems there are a lot of active beta users that missed the poll, making it much less valid. My favorites link goes right to the forum

It would make the world seem more alive and interesting and for new players, the tips would link to the encyclopedia. An NPC walking past your struggling city could say suggest a way it might be improved: Jerk NPC: "Ha! What a dump! This place will never am

Another way to limit fort spam or otherwise limit a resource collection point that stays within the premise of the game is to have them cost 1 essence. Basically, you still have to create living land to make the fort or resource collector, but its cheaper than a city. Obviously, once the restored land expands, you can place these outposts without essence.
Hey Brad, you're using my Sovereign!! [e digicons]:D[/e] -Ragnar (that really is my name) PS: Civ IV, Warlords expansion, was really wierd when I was playing against the stock Ragnar leader. It got really confusing when it would say Ragnar did such and such, and I had to figure out was it him or me.

I haven't figured out how to move items between units. For instance my sovereign picks up 3 rings of power, how can I give one to another unit, or more importantly have a scout give a potion to my soveriegn so he can gain the benefits?
I noticed huts would show up behind me as I was exploring, sometimes during a multi-square move or sometimes a turn or 2 later.
Quoting LetRBuck, reply 115 This is slightly off topic, but what if it were possible for battles over a certain size, or taking more than a certain number of tactical moves, to encompass more than one turn. In addition to being realistic, it would offer the opportunity for reinforcement, etc. Also if razing cities is part of this game, I think it should take more than one turn at least in some cases.
(Apologies for the length). I've given the TBS + multiplayer problem a lot of thought over the past several years so I would propose three (or really two and a half) options. Traditional Plus In this mode, turns would occur in sequential order as normal (player A first, then B, then C, etc). However, while player A was taking their turn, all other players would have full access to everything they would normally
You can actually load a game? Mine CTD's every time I load a game.
