i feel as if you should be able to go and research specific resources instead of random ones. kind of like a king saying i need more, so go find me more gold. then you research it which is like people going out and adventuring for it and lo and behold they find one close to or within your area of influence. nothing specific just a random selected resource. <span style="font-size: small;"

i have not played the beta(decided to wait for official patches) but why not try it this way. a spell takes action points equal to the spell level. so a level 1 spell takes 1 action point. a level 5 takes 5. if a spell takes more action points than you have then it goes into the next round. so basically a casting time. <span style="font-size: small
i don't think that the medic packs grant healing to anyone but the person that owns it. unless that has changed during the beta. healing outside of combat would be nice, but you would prob only be able to heal a single unit or unit stack at a time. maybe a heal all spell? i think a rest feature would be nice to have, just to be able to park your guys for a few turns to gain back some health. maybe you have to define how many turns
i haven't played the game since the last official patch, but i was thinking that it would be helpful for you to be able to make camp for your army in order to regenerate its health while out in the world. perhaps it would be better to just tie it in with the fortify function instead. there could be spells, equipment, or specialist units(cleric, medic etc.) that would make healing faster while your out there. <span style="font-s
with that new graphics engine i just hope that they give us PC gamers more bang for our buck and less console port. i am still looking for the reason i bought a new video card...
i am really hoping that we can make heroes much more varied. i worry with this system that all of my heroes will be spell casters. i would like to create heroes that are good in different things. would it not be good that heroes gain essence with each level and that essence would be spent on spells and abilities? i would like to purchase a spinning attack for my awesome warrior hero, or buy a new spell for my wizard hero.
i highly recommend skype for 1 on 1 calls. easy to set up and use. no need for any kinds of configuration. all you need is a mic headset. it has alot of other useful feature as well. you can play some simple games over it(beat my brother at chess once on it lol), you can share files across it, although i recommend only very small files as its fairly slow.
i personally love the unit creation. it was the big selling point for me. so i personally want: 1: unit equipment that gives special traits(first strike, set against charge, fire protection, slash protection, thrown etc). i like more generic stats, but giving a combination of stat +/- plus special traits would be excellent. 2:&nbs
I love how environment spreads out and reinvigorates the land. It can create cool-looking borders between nations as well. I would love to see more variations of these used in-game. Right now there's only Kingdom and Empire, but you could easily extend it to have some nations spread an arctic environment, or a desert. Another improvement to this would be that environment doesn't spread quite so fast within your influence. Ri
welcome! the game good in some ways as is, and the game will be great when 1.1 comes out. also you get those free expansions!
i have heard very good things about the FFH mod, so i am excited to see where this goes. so, good luck mr. paxton and lets bring this puppy home.
well the denser the cities become and the more people then yeah, it would be easier for an enterprising individual to lower YOUR influence in that city. you would start to lose what you think is yours. you might think that your getting that gold mine, but so much is going on that some greedy merchant is working with a local official to take it from you. if you spam a city at every node then you will hav
well, you may be right although its been so long since i played civ3, that i don't remember how corruption worked in that game.
well i have what i think to be an interesting way to deal with city spam. i normally don't like to pimp one of my threads in somebody elses thread, but i am curious as to what you think. corruption and why you don't want a bunch of cities.
yeah, this happened to me as well. i have reported it too. i guess we will see if it is fixed this week in 1.09E
i had an idea on how to help fix it. ::warning, shameless self promotion below:: strategic way to help with city spam.
The main problem I see with this is it would be complicated as influence does not really have hard, visible numbers. I would suggest it be abstracted to just paying the gildar to enforce order and prevent corruption and other problems that come with having a large nations (also, zone of control is somewhat magic-y in nature).
well that could all be simply alleviat<span style="color: #ffffff;"
the idea comes from real life really. its easy to control a small area as long as you can have direct control over it, but the larger your dominion is the harder to keep it in check. example: if you ruled 10 cities that were large in their own right, it would be hard to watch every area of your domain. lets say at the edge of your lands you have a city that has 2 gold mines. since its so far away, it would be hard to keep an eye on it.&n
City spam is caused by a poor decision on my part to have resources totally dependent on natural resources. Players are practically forced to city spam. This is something we're addressing in v1.1.
the thing is, in your opinion does the idea your implementing in 1.1 stop city spam or does it just give you other options? because based on your post it would seem that you ca
update to my previous post: after playing a game last night, the darkling card says that it cannot be the target of offensive spells. however, i think that during autoresolve this doesn't matter.
really? so you could just sit your sovereign in a town and never fight and you get xp? if thats true i did not know this.
well a friend and i started up a new multiplayer game on version 1.09b and we ran into some problems. the first problem was that we had saved the game on the first night and everything seemed ok. when we loaded the game up today to continue it all of our technology was there but the level counter reverted back to zero. so basically we started from scratch as far as the numerical value, but kept all out tech we had already invested in. </
yeah, but you would have to think twice about dropping a level 1 city right next to a single library resource because that would increase corruption to every city you own. this in turn might make you lose a resource in a different city. with this system lots of thought has to go into management. also, this system would allow influence wars with other factions. you could have spells that cause cor
ok, there has been alot of talk about city spam and ways to limit it. my solution is to introduce the concept of corruption. i personally don't know if its possible currently(but maybe in one of the expansions), but it should make you earn your city spam if you want it. here is the idea: in the game you have an area that is your influence ring. if you have a resource within your influence ri
actually i would REALLY like there to be ballista's. these would be really good for attacking big creatures(dragons anyone?).
