Personally if your stupid enough to charge your whole army down the dragons maw that's your own problem. Part of war is knowing yourself and your enemy. If your enemy has been showing signs of magic mastery (Has little development militarily, lots of spell research, many spell related buildings etc.) You should count on him using his big guns and throw a feint to draw his attack then follow up with your real force... That's basic strategy, it's called deception and is kinda the point of the g

Reply to Stealth in WOM Ideas

I'd be utterly surprised if they failed to add stealth in at least SOME capacity.

I like the idea of granting certain bonuses to troops through advanced training... Why can't my Elite Light Infantry first strike with swords? Who is to say they arn't like Samurai with insane speed and combat reflexes? Or why can't my Lightly armored Shadow Knights hide in the woods? Adding abilities like this that can be researched in War tech on unit design would allow for far greater customization and personalization of your units and I for one think that would be excellent. You could sti

Who says that heroes would get access to the most powerful combat spells? Or that Mana will be in such abundance that rapidly raping armies with SMD would even be possible? If my sovereign focuses entirely on magic I'd expect him to be able to wipe out an army with one massive show of magic... I'd also expect him to be severely drained and vulnerable after that. Balancing however, definitely needs to be a focus of we players from here on. I don't want any one play-style to so severely trump t

@John-Hughes Perhaps you could make it so that new research buildings won't count towards research until after the breakthrough your currently working towards? Regardless, the point is to avoid a situation where any one strategy becomes the be all end all, and although the strategy you pointed out is possible you'd be making some significant resource and research sacrifices trying to be jack of all trades rather then focusing on a specific path. In any case in the later stages the str

I have to say I like a lot of these ideas. Getting specialized Research points from certain buildings makes sense. What are they going to be doing at a barracks or armory? Training and finding new ways to forge weaponry. What are they going to be doing in a Wizards tower? Studying magic and developing arcane incantations. Also this way your never left in the dust of the Super research TITAN in your chosen field because you'll be constantly gaining new better specialized research buildings in

GTFO... jk [e digicons]}:)[/e] There's definitely going to be a mode aside from the Campaign for SP... Don't you worry your little head. Hell there's even plans to try using Elemental to make RPG's of sorts. (Brad himself said something about tryin his hand at it.) As far as I know for SP there's 1. Campaign mode (Supposedly plays kinda like an RPG, Don't get confused though, it's still a Strategy Game) 2. Free mode or Ski

This Disgusts me... Though it doesn't surprise me. Luckily I was never much of a fan of the Diablo series... Single player felt too shallow for me and MP had too many assholes so It's not like I care If they "ruin" it. As for Star Craft and SC2... Star Craft was great in its time... But it's time is looong past, and mimicking the same RTS gameplay ain't gonna warrant my $50.00. So to hell with Blizzard, they just limp along on their WOW profits... They d

I don't understand this thread at all... Even if Elemental did come out for the consoles... I'd still get the PC version. If your PC sucks you've been told not to worry as Elemental will be quite flexible If you have little RAM... Whats wrong with you? Ram is CHEAP, go buy more! One way or the other, despite the scenarios I can visualize there is just no good reason to argue the point about Elemental going to consoles. Other then being a fanboy perhaps.
. If anything, the raw essence number should feed a formula for a penalty on the next essence increase--i.e. the more essence you have, the harder it should be to gain essence.
I don't know about this part. It seems to me one of the viable play styles was being an Essence hoarder to have massive magic power. With this in place it seems like you'd be unfairly gimping that particular play style. Encouraging players to spend their es

Sounds awesome... I guess I'll have to pony up the money for it... I'm not a big graphics whore or anything so as long as they are serviceable and convey a cool story with lots of possibilities It's worth checking out. Thanks for the review Winter, I appreciate the time it probably took you to write it. Here's some karma for your trouble[e digicons]k1[/e] ... Not that you need it or anything. [e digicons];P[/e]

I agree... Having to build or research in a specific order in order to remain competitive is absolute crap. If I'm an industrious kingdom I want to focus on industry yet remain competitive. If I'm a warlike kingdom I want to focus on warfare yet remain competitive. If I'm a brainy kingdom I want to focus on research yet remain competitive. The idea of balancing coming down to always having to follow the same general stenciled tech/

That's a good point Nick... I forgot that only the Sovereign is supposed to be Immortal... Unless there is a spell to tweak life spans 1 turn = 1 year would kill off heroes and mortal offspring ludicrously quick.

Rath my friend, clearly you've never played on a console with strange teenagers online... Or you'd know my pain. I like to lan too, with buddies I know in RL. I don't much care for playing with or against foul mouthed, poor losers... And thats pretty much all you find on the consoles in MP. I actually agree with most of what you said though.

I won't question the dedication of Someone who has the dark wizard guy from MoM as their Avatar. (I like being alive) Personally I liked MoM's combat mechanics... Even if you understood the stats the way they were handled allowed for enough random room that you couldn't always say for certain you were going to win (unless there was an uber difference in power). I don't like over simplified systems where just a little calculation can tell you for a definite certainty that your

Right... Forgot I was on a PC exclusive title's forum... I'm to used to all these console playing teenagers and their MP love fetishes. Feels good to be among my peers for a change. Just the idea of being back amongst the over inflated egos of yonder teenage FPS bumpkins fills my heart with anguish and a desire to dole out enormous amounts of pain and suffering... I need counseling. [e digicons]}:)[/e]

I Agree that Battles spanning multiple strategic turns could be epic... Especially with the possibility of Reinforcements. Even if this isn't in Vanilla. It's gotta be modded in or something. Then again I think 1 turn equaling a year is a bit extreme to start with. So it takes 5 years to build a school? 3 years to build a hut? Honestly? I mean I know they don't have bulldozers and heavy machinery but that's still just ridiculous. A turn should be 1/4 of a year maximum IMO. I m

Yes please review it Raven... I'd like to know your take. I was thinking about buying that but after seeing some of the Professional Reviews I'm a little hesitant. You or Wintersong's opinions could be the deciding factor. Let me know what you think.

Phew... I'm not old. I don't know the answer to any of these. I have been playing games since I was able to walk, but I'm only 24, I can't compete with you old timers.

Raven I have to say... Out of all the posts I've read in these forums in my time as a Lurker... Yours were without a doubt my Favs. You speak your mind, Have good ideas, and Call no man mister. (Usually you call them friend or brother [e digicons];P[/e] ) I'm not worried about you though... Your to badass to die. Just in case though... I'm going to recreate your being in Elemental! Raven X will live forever in my PC!
